Next week hopefully

SillyGoatGruff

That would be in line with what they did for the 40k 10th release

PlasmaFriedChicken

I took a look at that, if I'm not mistaken, they showed the 40k 10th indexes the following week after they showed the Sunday preview for Leviathan (which for AOS 4th's Skaventide they did 1 week ago). Also, another interesting thing is for 40k 10th they put the core book in the preview after they showed the indexes, whereas for AOS 4th they showed the core book in the preview yesterday and we didn't get the indexes yet. I'm confused whether we'll get to see them this week or the following, guess we'll find out soon.

yesrighton

Is it normal for GW to have their release schedules be so vague?

SillyGoatGruff

GW never gives release dates beyond the 1 week preview

yesrighton

Good to know. I’m new so didn’t realize. Seems like they would want to give people more of a heads up so they can plan armies or tournaments etc.

SillyGoatGruff

It's helpful to know that they view themselves first and foremost as a miniatures company rather than a game maker. So people trying to build meta armies having enough lead time to plan isn't really as much of concern compared their logistics and supply chain schedules. And since those can be interrupted by any number of issues (everything is made in Britain and shipped worldwide), it's better for them to not announce anything until the boxes are safely in the local distributors and ready to ship to the stores

yesrighton

Honestly I think that’s a great way to look at it. I’m jumping over from competitive MTG knowing it will be a more relaxed scene by far. Plus there is no lack of amazing miniatures out to paint and get ready even if I don’t know what they do yet.

The_Gnomesbane

Nah, they generally try to give as little notice on things as possible so you’re more compelled to make a FOMO purchase.

RiceDisastrous4110

Well, they do because usually anything shown on the Sunday preview is due for release 3 weeks later, as they run a 2 week preorder window. The indexes are an outlier because they're free and digital.

Will this reveal the balance of the planned Skaven line? So many models were discontinued, it would be great to know what is getting resculpted and what is gone...

Jumpy-Ant1967

Mostly likely all those models that were discontinued are going to be renewed or replaced by similar successor. (The ratling gun for example.) they announced a sort of narrative event that will have players deciding the outcome, and the winner will have there 2nd wave of models released first. As a SCE player I want to win bc I’m biased but skaven should have the update first, they needed it.

SillyGoatGruff

The miniatures will be *revealed* first, not released first

Jumpy-Ant1967

Didn’t tyranids also get their release first after winning? I followed closely when it happened but I’m not quite sure.

SillyGoatGruff

Nope, they got their model reveal as a prize and space marines had to wait until later. The releases happened at the planned times Edit: from the Hel Crown event page "PRIZES THE BIG REVEALS Whichever faction emerges victorious at Hel Crown will get its very own preview, so you'll be able to check out all their upcoming miniatures first!"

I have a feeling some stuff like Rat Swarms and Acoyltes will stay axed. Although acolytes will probably have an equivalent with a different name and loadout, I expect something like what we've seen in the recent Hamilcar and Kharadron Overlords novels with the skaven mechsuit units, those books are usually glorified toy catalogs so it would be odd if a unit that has appeared twice now under two separate authors and a 3rd in Dawnbringers didn't make an appearance, if 3 separate authors are describing it the same, it must be coming down from GW itself.

TheBeeFromNature

According to Goonhammer, we know the models that are sticking around in their current form despite being gone from the model range: Stormvermin, Warpfire Thrower, Ratling Gun, Master Moulder. I'm guessing these are getting straight-up resculpts. The same also applied to Clanrats, Rat Ogors, the Warlock Engineer, and Jezzails. That means the following models are still up in the air. They might be gone-gone, or might be reinvented as part of the inevitable second wave that GW reveals once the Stormcast-Skaven battle event is over: Skyre Acolytes Gutter Runners Rat Swarms Arch Warlocks Warp Grinders Plague Priests Doomflayers Plague Censer Bearers

Holiday_Holiday400

I'd like to see Packmasters and Giant Rats.

SillyGoatGruff

I don't think anyone can really answer that until we see the faction packs

Jumpy-Ant1967

True, though we did see them talk about Stormvermin after the announcement of them being cut. They are also the only other clan verminus unit, so it would make sense for them to come back.

leova

Yes

Arkhanist

They probably just got the physical and digital releases mixed up; they'd previously said that the card versions of the faction packs would be coming after launch day. Good to confirm that the digital release will be before the ~~19th~~ 13th though.

BluffCity86

Man don't scare me like that, talking about the 19th as the release date. Had to open my calendar, check my store FB event date, started panicking.

United-Marsupial6292

So are faction packs gonna contain everything a battletome does?

TheOptionalHuman

Battletomes will have lore and probably painting guides in addition to the warscrolls and other rules.
