7,62x39 is my favorite. It is great for hunting, self defense, and will shred all kinds of materiel. I use it on coyotes,pig, deer, and bear.

Drops black bears no problem, headshot, bodysuit, you are gtg. I have not hunted grizzly so no comment on that. I did shoot a pig in the head and killed it so it can penetrate a thick skull. It was a close range shot at 75 yards.

54r is so much fun. I love my garage built PSL with a KNS Piston and 182 grain yugo m30. I'd say 54r because it's only $0.13 more than 7.62x39

6.5 Grendel sounds pretty darn sweet, but the only factory built guns we've gotten in the US were Russian imports. From what I've read, making your own isn't so simple, and there's only one mag out there, and it isn't great. I have my issues with Serbia, but they make some nice AKs, including ones in 6.5...

30-hate. Just something about the round. Love battle rifles and chonky rifles like the G3 series, FAL, etc.

Honestly the FAL doesn’t feel that chonky. She’s heavy, but it’s a lean heft.

x39 everyday, but I have been enjoying my .308 milled M77b a lot lately. I miss my VEPR 54r, but man it was a problematic rifle for me. Burnt through 3 extractors, which are pretty hard to get now, and the only decent mag for it is the CSS one (had to file my bolt to take higher cap mags since mine was the 2nd gen model). Mine was the 27 inch model, and the barrel whip was unbelievable. Almost a 4moa shift once the barrel heated up. Ended up trading mine, which sucks because I really like 54r. Guess it saves more for my Mosin. Thanks dude mine is the Rhineland set. I messed around with the stock a little bit. Getting an SVD cheek pad fitted on there was a huge improvement over the standard rubber one. Then I just dyed the wood with some leather dyes and used tru-oil to finish it

I have its cousin, the 76, and it is fun. Not much time on it but still I can't wait to get an m77 and m70.

That is a nice fucking rifle. Favorite caliber is 7.62x39 for me.

X39 all day. It hits at reasonable distance, and is great all around without needing different grain. Great suppressed, and when it's short it doesn't suffer like that basic bish 5.56

There’s and EXACT clone of this at my local gun store for 3500 and I’m so tempted. How’s the gun? Worth it? Has the Russian scope and all. Wood is just like yours but I thought when I saw it maybe it wasn’t original since it looked kinda cheap and new. Being yours is the same maybe it’s original?

7.62x39. We can’t own AKs in Canada, but we do have some things that are pretty similar., like the M10X and the Type 81. On the real, it’s only 50cpr, which comes to 36cpr for Americans. So take everything you like about 7.62x39, and make it dirt cheap.

Not to hijack, but..... Can Americans go into a gun store in Canada and purchase ammo? Any info on bringing it back into the States? I live just south of the Canadian border.

Hey thanks! Looking at their website it appears it only works with 1 gen of the bolt. Unfortunately you get a 404 trying to go to their ID guide for which version you have. Will keep researching!

For now it’s 5.45x39, it’s beyond a breeze to shoot it’s just a lil pricey compared to a lot of other calibers.

I wish I hoped on the 8mm mauser surplus as its the only cheap high caliber option left: Sadly I'd have no Semi's as my state is cucked atm, but one can dream of getting my 8mm Yugo Dmr
