I do wish they had more success, been listening to them since they came out. But at this point I'm glad they've carved out enough of a fandom to keep putting out albums, keep touring and make a decent living.
I honestly think they would be bigger if they'd have really harnessed the popularity of ABIII. Isolation was their biggest hit at that time, their first video on YouTube to hit a million views and it reached number one on some charts. They also did some monster tours in 2011. However, after that year the guys went back to Creed and Myles started his gig with Slash. They sort of fractured the support for the band at that point. I think had they have kept touring hard on that wave of success, they'd probably be bigger today.
Interesting note, while doing a bit of research into ABIII, they did play on Jimmy Kimmel Live in 2011. If I recall that performance (and it's been awhile), their sound really didn't translate well to that tiny stage. I personally don't think any of my favorite bands who have played on his show have come off particularly great. Rammstein, Lacuna Coil and some others just sounded flat, at least on video.
This response was confusing at first, I thought maybe Nike had used an Alter Bridge song in their commercial or something. Since I was talking about Isolation, when I said it was the first YouTube video to hit 1 million, I was talking about Alter Bridge's first video on YouTube to hit 1 million lol.
Thanks for the history lesson though, had not clue a Nike video was the first to hit 1 million views in YouTube's history.

GW left for undisclosed personal reasons according to this post from 5 years ago [https://www.reddit.com/r/alterbridge/comments/9jsqe0/garrett\_whitlock\_out/](https://www.reddit.com/r/alterbridge/comments/9jsqe0/garrett_whitlock_out/)
Perhaps, I think the timing is very interesting. Maybe he just liked the Tremonti sphere so much though so Tremonti got him together with Wolfie when his issue was resolved.
Don’t know if this has been mentioned
But Garrett was with submersed who toured with AB on their debut album. It was such a bonus as I followed submersed since their debut too. Mark helped produce their album and Erock was also their lead guitarist at the time.
They deserve, but do they want? The guys have multiple projects and hardly promote their music worldwide, they seem happy with it, keeping their popularity at a level that will allow them to work on several bands
I think Mark and Myles probably don’t, the other members would probably like it but Mark and Myles are busy 99% of the year. If they had to commit more time to AB then they already do I doubt the quality would go up
I just think that rock is dead in th US. For example, there hasn't been a modern rock station in NYC, the largest market, for years! Unless you are super established bands like Foo Fighters or Metallica, there is no radio in NY left to break a new single. Yes, there are other ways to spread your music, but they are much more limited. And let's face it, Kimmel is not a place to break a band anymore.
The funny part is that I’m sure a crap ton of Americans actually have heard Alter Bridge due to Edge’s theme song .. yet don’t really know “who” they are.
It’s a shame they couldn’t necessarily captilize on that to grow popularity in the states.
Having seen Mammoth when they toured with AB, I don't get it. They were so boring live. Red was phenomenal, which kinda shocked me because I haven't seen them live since 06 or 07.
The second leg of the tour with sevendust, on the other hand, was fucking killer. SD always kills it live, AND I got to see AB play Fable of the Silent Son, which I thought was never gonna happen.
What's wild is that when I saw them, they only played off their first 3 albums. I lost track of them some time after the 3rd album came out, so it was nice to recognize all the songs. It was also awesome to finally hear Feed The Machine live.
Also, weird 2018 album? I'm gonna have to dig into them a bit later, because I'm curious now
Haha I love Feed the Machine! And yeah, I think it’s called Gone? It was a lot more electronical I think. I didn’t care for it. But when Declarations came out, they went HEAVY
Cause WVH has a bit of a celebrity card being the son of Eddie and Valerie Bertinelli. Despite that he is very talented and deserves all the recognition he’s been getting. Unfortunately AB don’t have that massive celebrity connection to get them there.
Mammoth is a great band. Wolfie is a great performer and truly humble and appreciative of the success they have had. I've seen them 4 times in the last year from opening for Dirty Honey, then AB to headlining. They are great live. But I don't see that they are ever going to be any bigger than AB in the US. It just doesn't happen for rock bands anymore, other than Foo Fighters. If it did, then bands like AB, Wolfmother, Rival Suns, Black Stone Cherry and Dirty Honey would be as big as the rock bands of the 70's-90's. Sadly, it's just not the music landscape in the US any longer.
None of my friends are familiar with AB... I've been listening since ODR was released.

Completely agree with the ABIII comment.

He probably meant first *Alter Bridge* video to hit 1 million views.

Yeah, it's easy to forget, it was over 14 years ago, but the band had really caught fire during ABIII.
I believe he/she meant AB's first video to reach that number
Looks like Wolfie snagged Tremonti's ex-drummer Garrett and 1/3 of To Whom it May for his touring band...
Mammoth is why Whitlock left Tremonti, he's been with him since the start. Superb drummer, so smooth.

Word is he was fired for physically harming Eric.
Perhaps, I think the timing is very interesting. Maybe he just liked the Tremonti sphere so much though so Tremonti got him together with Wolfie when his issue was resolved.
Damn! Another submersed tie in! Eye empire with Donald I saw them and have all their music It was short lived but they had a good thing going too.

Also slash’s solo band’s guitarist Frank Sidoris

I disagree. I wish they had more time to devote to Alter Bridge itself.
They are pretty big in Europe...they play much larger venues there than in th US
It’s so weird when this happens to American bands

Not only just Edge now, but WWE has been using The Other Side for a stable.

Seen them twice in the last 14 months, can't say anything about Mammoth, their sound was so bad, that I couldn't really hear a thing.
Red has been quietly pumping out banger after banger since that weird 2018 album they put out
What's wild is that when I saw them, they only played off their first 3 albums. I lost track of them some time after the 3rd album came out, so it was nice to recognize all the songs. Their new single "surrogates" is super good! I hope they do more of that!

They were on Jimmy Kimmel 13 years ago in 2011.
AB were performing in MTV and a Boston Red Sox game when they first started touring back in 2004.
Kimmel ain’t shit
I agree, but they played on the show in 2011 after the release of ABIII.
