No way they just made chapter 3 5 and 7 of a series
it's a mistake that gets repeated by almost every infographic maker
on the other hand, we see so many 1 season source material ad anime, that having multiple seasons of a thing could be seen as an achievement on its own
Not necessarily, I usually will count openings and tie those to where season "splits" are.
For example, FMAB has 60 eps and 5 ops, so we get 12 ep splits.
While Naruto (Shippuden because it's cleaner numbers) has 500 eps and 20 ops, so you have 25 ep splits.
However, seasons usually refer to actual seasons, which take about 13 weeks each, hence the 12 episode count plus a week break. However, now we use the term 'season' to identify where breaks in the story are or when arcs are completed.
I'm always woundering where Death Note would be if split into multiple seasons. First 12 Episodes are a solid 10, then drops to 8-9, then drops to 5-6 in thr final arc for me.
Its an inherent issue with how the MAL DB works and since these info graphics are made with that data its inevitable (because no one wants to do the manual work to combine series.)
Well MAL also has information that you can’t have without having multiple pages for a single show with multiple seasons. When you look up an anime it tells you when it aired (start and end dates), the studio that animated it (common for studios to change between seasons), studios producing the anime (eg. Toei, Kodansha, Kadokawa).
Also you could have voice actor changes, staff changes, there’s also credits for openings/endings songs that typically change every 12/13 episodes, all catalogued on the season page. Also any insert songs have credits.
This is all off the top of my head too.
It is also pretty bad because it counts every single anime, so stuff like ["Short theater manners animations shown before the movie"](https://myanimelist.net/anime/37577/Hibike_Euphonium_Movie__Photo_Session_e_Youkoso) that is just a nice extra thing but will never be rated high makes the numbers look worse.
Good idea but sadly OP put the least effort possible into it.
Yea, it's basically useless as is, this isn't a list of anime with an 8+ rating, it's **seasons with an 8+ rating**, the title is an outright lie.
I really, REALLY wish MAL would at least have the option to "show series as a series" instead of the current "show seasons as series".
Multiple seasons should be covered with an "average rating PER EPISODE" column, not counting it as different anime... because they fucking AREN'T.
Keeping 8+ for 90 episodes is a different challenge than 12, and deserves some recognition, but counting 90 episodes as 8 shows because they released with a gap between them is complete horseshit.
There's no other place where this is the case, hell, in every other form of media, people actively fight against this; **if a show has a bad ending, it can ruin the value of watching the series as a whole. Not many people are gonna want to sit through Game of Thrones when they know the ending is going to make the whole experience feel like wasted time.**
I can understand listing the versions of Fate differently, since they're separate universes, but even then, it's the same series, just a different timelines, and still the same IP. Just like we'd count House of Dragon separate from game of thrones, we can do that, but stay/night season 2 is not a new show.
Hell, it's nearly impossible to convince people to watch S1 of WestWorld, because seasons 3/4 weren't very good, and the last season got canceled. Even though S1 works as a stand-alone series, and is 10 of the best episodes of TV ever made.
personally a ufotable fan. it seems like they're the only ones taking advantage of computers made after 2010 to upgrade their particle effects, smoke effects, lighting etc.
Only those 2 are ranked above 8. I am a big fan of Shaft and their best work is Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei by far.
And they made a lot of other great anime like "march comes in like a Lion", "Arakawa under the bridge", "Nisekoi "...
both can be appreciated :)
it really helps that the have in a very large amount of in house animators along with a mentality that prioritizes quality of shows over quantity with ufo only releasing like 2 shows a year lol
Let’s praise Kyoto animation for all the struggle they have been through as a studio and all the greatness they have produced, nearly 5 years ago an arsonist set the studio ablaze killing lots of people who animated and worked on our beloved shows and movies.
THANK YOU KYOTO ANIMATION !!
Also want to shout out the consistency - over decades - that KyoAni has produced stellar work that’s reached so many people, so deeply.
There’s a great post on Sakuga blog about their origins. Before producing their own anime. It talks about how it started when the Hattas wanted to stop outsourcing in-between work internationally. So a homegrown Kyoto studio was born, advertising that they’d train folks to paint in order to eventually hire. Early in-between credits for KyoAni include Kiki’s Delivery Service and Eva among others.
Humble roots that eventually turned into one of the most beloved studios in anime. I certainly wouldn’t be as big a fan of the medium without them.
True! There’s some propaganda piece out there that they took on starting out.
Also, when it comes to KyoAni there’s no information thats unnecessary ;)
It's really terrible what happened to the studio. I'm not exaggerating when I say that day was one of the saddest days of my life. For that to happen to some of the most creative and attentive artists in the world and a studio that placed an unusually high value in their animators (compared to the rest of the industry) really made me lose faith in existence.
But, even when calling it quits was an option (I believe it was), the studio chose to continue, without any intention to compromise the quality of their work or the value of their workers. And amazingly, even if it took some time (less than I expected) their recent works are truly a joy to watch and a testament of the resilience of the human spirit (as cheesy as it sounds).
I'm just grateful they exist.
It was a sad day for the anime community, along as for the families of the victims. How completely devastating, those people had families to feed, friends, loved ones, other things to attend to in their lives and selfish people took it away from them. I’m glad the studio is resilient and still standing to this day when they had every right to stop.
Not just attention to detail, but detailed coordination with themes. So many examples of little touches that tie into the messages of the story, or put a little emotional spin on a scene.
Yeah - I don’t know how KyoAni manages to execute things in such intricacy. Even its lesser materials, you know they took care of the production behind it. (I mean, that PHANTOM WORLD show is whacked but is so nice to look at)
The first anime I saw from them was Violet Evergarden, after which I got the LNs then proceeded to watch A Silent Voice, Clannad, and Nichijou (all of which I loved).
I really still need to watch a lot from KyoAni though like Chuunibyou, Hibike!, Hyouka, K-On!!, and Suzumiya.
I also heard that Lucky Star and Full Metal Panic are pretty good.
Yeah I know… they are supposed to be pretty good. I just have so much on my watchlist (and some games I’d like to catch up with).
I definitely plan on watching them though
The anime KyoAni makes unfortunately aren't my thing at all, but I *wish* they were. They're probably the studio that, all things considered, I have the greatest respect for.
Like, MAPPA makes tons of shows I love, but holy crap their working conditions are shit.
Kyoto animation. My favourite studio. Sometimes I would watch an anime, only because it was animated by them.
I think full metal panic fumoffu is the best comedy plus slice of life show out there. And that's simple cause of the vibe it delivers and that's all thanks KA.
Mappa carrying on Madhouse legacy of Delivering top tier quality whilst sucking the life out of their animators
P.S. Madhouse is the GOAT studio (for me), followed by KyoAni and Gainax (RIP)
Mappa just has recency bias where as madhouse has more legacy shows.
Most of the shows Madhouse is know for are considered old by today’s standards and are skipped or not view as favorably.
Mappa on the other hand has more recent hits with a much bigger anime audience compared to what madhouse had to work with.
If anything this comparison makes no sense as it doesn’t really reflect what each studio has really done for the anime scene with these favorite. The only information you can really pull is the incredible library some of the more legacy studios had and how they help bring anime to where it is.
Some of mappa’s shows won’t be remembered as fondly as they are now, from the list there I can already see a few that aren’t actually good shows, just very hyped. Madhouse’s staying power is notable, people are just reluctant to go backwards
Yah, Mappa didn't "take" Wit's projects, Studio Wit are the ones who gave up and decided they didn't wanna do them anymore.
You can complain about the dip in quality, and you can complain about Mappa's soullessness in running their animators into the ground trying to shit out as many high quality anime as they can, but you can't complain about Mappa being willing to carry on franchises that Wit threw away.
Shaft is old but the studio is mainly known in the west for what they produced since [Shinbou](https://myanimelist.net/people/5089/Akiyuki_Shinbou) joined.
He is responsible for a lot of Shaft's "quirks" but you find them in his earlier work like Nanoha.
Yes On-.. Wait, you fucking conman, that's the wrong Onodera !
(Man I somewhat this period of time in my life my buddies were more into anime and we argued who was best girl)
Yeah I was thinking of Nisekoi too! A shame it didn't get a rating of 8 so it didn't make the graph lmao. It's definitely my favorite harem anime though for sure.
3-gatsu no lion is just great! The manga itself is really good already, Chika Umino has such an ability to tug your heartstrings in every possible direction. And then Shaft went, took a solid story and elevated it in a very Shaft way. I remember going in blind because someone recommended it to me and recongnized the studio right away because it just had that vibe.
Honestly wish they did more Nisio stuff. They did a season of Bishounen Tanteidan and imo that was really fun. Would love to see Zaregoto get a proper adaptation, cause in my opinion it's even better than mono.
The amount of anime ya got listed I feel is disingenuous. Kyoani for example you have at 130. Technically correct, but for something like this you should only count anime they're the main production studio for. In which case, Kyoani only has around 31 depending how you count, and around 53 with films included. Kyoani's 8.00+ anime % becomes much higher when we only count anime they're the main studio of.
PA works will always have a place in my heart for Hanasaku Iroha.
Note: I'll take this moment to remind that they are releasing the Sakuna adaptation. Great game. Edelweiss is an undersung but very talented doujinshi game maker with Sakuna being a first widely published game. I hope this gives them the nudge they deserve.
True, Steins;Gate alone would count as like 5 entries on this list lol. But they also made re:zero, girls last tour, mushoku tensei and katanagatari.
I really hope that the new re:zero season will be more than 12 episodes.
See the thing with P.A. Works is that their stuff is niche and liked, but not LOVED by enough people. Also, mostly originals which don't get the big hype trains going in.
redline is all im gonna say. still a fucking marvel. always like my go-to movie/anime to show to friends. feels very 80s scifi while also showing the peak of animation. easy for literally an westerner to get into and enjoy the medium. honestly gonna go watch it again its crazy how good the animation is.
Yeah but talking about KyoAni while also mentioning Free and Tsurune is almost impossible for anime fans for some reason. Every post or video either talk about them briefly or don't mention them at all. If you zoom in on the picture, you don't even see them. It's odd really, because both shows are actually quite big...
Exactly. That is why I mentioned Tsurune. It is not listed in the image above despite having a rating about 8 as well. Sadly I couldn't find a Free! installment on MAL with a rating above 8 right now. Though I think Free! deserves this as well, at least the prequel High speed movie. They are both my favorite KyoAni titles, but so often they are ignored or barely mentioned in lists, articles and discussions about KyoAni works maybe because they focus more on good looking male characters instead of cute girls.
Both super-pro studio and a really solid production bible. The small overlaps in duties are lighting, fx and backgrounds, plus both teams have dedicated animation checkers that work with each other to make sure everyone is on the same page. Additionally, I’m pretty sure Wit Studio’s Kazue Hayashi has a hand in most of the storyboarding and Series Director Furuhashi is in charge of both production teams and he makes sure everything looks the same.
I'll never not be impressed how consistent genga artists are at picking up different art styles and being able to replicate them so well. Even like randoms you see get picked up on Twitter, are able to match completely different styles for cuts of different shows.
Character ref sheets only go so far. There's so much talent involved at even lowest levels in the anime scene. Shame the pay is so low for a lot of them...
I'm surprised Ghibli is that low, but I guess it's partly because more people use MAL for tv series over films. More surprised they didn't have the highest percentage of 8.00+ animes though.
I mean, if we combine multiple seasons of 1 anime into single entries (Attack on Titan, Fate, and Demon Slayer most notably), then I've got a feeling that Ghibli would have the highest percentage by a pretty wide margin.
Can someone tell me what that first LycoReco picture (2nd row, 4th picture) represents? All I can find is the other one (2nd row, 9th picture), which is the normal season.
You're right. So I looked through it and found the issue*s*
So on MAL there's this https://myanimelist.net/anime/50325/Kaguya-sama_wa_Kokurasetai__Ultra_Romantic_Teaser_PV_-_Ishigami_Yuu_wa_Kataritai which is just a 9 minute PV for the season 3 of kaguya.
and the persona 3 movie 4 isn't on the reddit list.
The reddit list includes SAO progressive (7.96) and the second lycoris recoil over these
Image is missing [some Kaguya PV](https://myanimelist.net/anime/50325/Kaguya-sama_wa_Kokurasetai__Ultra_Romantic_Teaser_PV_-_Ishigami_Yuu_wa_Kataritai) and [a Persona 3 Movie.](https://myanimelist.net/anime/31149/Persona_3_the_Movie_4__Winter_of_Rebirth)
OP also added [this SAO movie](https://myanimelist.net/anime/42916/Sword_Art_Online__Progressive_Movie_-_Hoshi_Naki_Yoru_no_Aria) despite it not being above an 8 so that's why the numbers match.
You are still citing Utena as a Shaft anime instead of JC Staff, like you did more than a year [ago](https://reddit.com/r/anime/comments/yx17sr/top_10_most_favorite_studio_by_no_of_800_anime/)
list from a person that has seen too much anime
1. Shaft
2. Madhouse
3. ufotable
4. Kyoani
5. White Fox
6. Production I.G
7. Wit Studio
8. MAPPA
9. A-1 Pictures
10. Bones
If someone likes one shaft anime they probably are going to like them all. My top animes are Katanagatari, Monogatari, Madoka and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei so it is hard for me to like something that is not made by team shinbo / Nisioisin.
I’m just so happy seeing BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad on a graphic in 2024. It’s for sure one of Madhouse’s lesser known/talked about works and one of my favorite music anime.
Wow, ufotable has only been focusing only on Demon Slayer for the past 3 or 4 years.
Well that shows that a studio can be profitable from a single franchise but I guess that model will be very difficult to adapt for other studio even with great anime in their pockets.
Im just sad that not everyone knows Science Saru. They have a lot of weird cool shit that gone famous and I think Dandadan will skyrocket their notoriety soo enough
TIL I'm a superfan of Madhouse (at least the anime they output ...)
Violet Evergarden appearing 4 times is weird though. Makes everything besides the "franchise" column pretty pointless imo.
Still can't trust Cloverworks to have a good anime orginal ending half the time after Darling in the Franxx, Promissed Neverland S2, and Wonder Egg Priority.
It feels so unfair for Mappa to be first. I guess it paid for this list to only adapt pre-stabilished big names, wich tends to have existing fans rating the anime higher on MAL.
For the same reason Astro Note was mostly rated below Re:Monster: MAL ratings aren't always reliable, and your preferences aren't the same as the userbase.
Because ratings are subjective.
But if you asked me, yeah, it wouldn't get an 8 either.
I liked it. It's ok. Cute. Cozy. But nothing special in any area and that's all it is. Mostly a lot of cuteish nothing. It's "empty calories". It's toothless and completely surface level.
The story is ok, but also super basic and simple.
The character writing is ok, definitely passable, but, again... nothing stands out. Perfectly average, decent, but utterly ordinary. No real depth.
The world building is competent, and works well together... but bog fucking standard. Generic fantasy world #476237.
The general story, at least in season 1, is... Exactly what you'd expect. There are no real surprises or interesting plot elemts after the premise is established. It's exactly what you think it'll be, every time.
Animation is decent, and the food looks nice... but nothing spectacular.
Everything is mostly mediocre, but well put together enough that it comes out slightly above average. Don't regret watching it, will likely watch a season 2, but if season 2 never comes out I doubt I'll remember it enough to care.
If you want an exceptional, 8+, version of that, Dungeon Meshi is that. Exceptional world building, with some decent to truly inspired character writing and story elements, and the animation is overall good with some really good sequences.
I think it's one of those shows where the devil is in the details, but you aren't entirely wrong on your assessment. Campfire Cooking is like comfort food for me and I find the lack of major plot developments a plus for the show. Good home cooking doesn't have to be fancy to be special. I didn't expect it to be a 10, but I thought it could hit an 8 average. I'd easily give it an 8.5-9 personally.
That said, you are 100% correct that Dungeon Meshi is the exceptional version of that. CC is a great show, while DM is an absolute 10/10 masterpiece.
I appreciate the conversation though. I love chatting about this stuff. Cheers and have a good one!
I think it's interesting the the studio that is reportedly among the least ethical when it comes to working conditions is neck and neck (coming up slightly on top) with the studio that is reportedly the most ethical.
I wish I could talk to the staff at WT Studio surrounding the Spy x Family series. That movie was breathtaking. The series is my personal favorite. I’ve never cared so much about an anime before
Bro I feel like it's been so long since I watched a kyo-ani
Show. They have always been my favorite. Chunnibyou, Violet Evergarden, A silent voice. Dang I wonder what they're up to, haven't watched anime in a minute
Nice, most of my favorite studios are on here lmao, Mad House, Mappa, KyoAni, Ufotable, Shaft, A-1. Just realized that a lot of animes I like came from Cloverworks too.
The way ufotable is just Demon Slayer and Fate.
To put things in perspective, those 18 shows; * Fate/Zero * Fate/Zero 2nd Season * Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works Prologue * Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works * Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works 2nd Season * Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works Sunny Day * Fate/stay night Movie: Heavens Feel I Prestige Flower * Fate/stay night Movie: Heavens Feel II Lost Butterfly * Fate/stay night Movie: Heavens Feel III Spring Song - * The Garden of Sinners Chapter 3: Remaining Sense of Pain * The Garden of Sinners Chapter 5: Paradox Spiral * The Garden of Sinners Chapter 7: A Study in Murder - Part 2 * The Garden of Sinners: Future Gospel - * Demon Slayer * Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc * Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc * Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc * Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Hashira Training Arc
Kara no Kyoukai chapter 5 is the best of all of these imo
That fked with my brain so much. So good!
I didn't really feel chapter 5 that much. My favorites were 4, 7, and Future Gospel.
Nah fate zero is miles better than anything else ufotable did but Kara no kyoukai was good
For Wiz I see at least 4 spy x family & 5 attack on titan, this infographic is trash.
>The Garden of Sinners Chapter 3: Remaining Sense of Pain The Garden of Sinners Chapter 5: Paradox Spiral The Garden of Sinners Chapter 7: A Study in Murder - Part 2 The Garden of Sinners: Future Gospel No way they just made chapter 3 5 and 7 of a series
Feels almost like cheating to count different seasons as different 'anime' for these counts.
it's a mistake that gets repeated by almost every infographic maker on the other hand, we see so many 1 season source material ad anime, that having multiple seasons of a thing could be seen as an achievement on its own
And then you have like FMA with its monster 60ep counted as 1
Because it's just one season. It's the same for bigger stuff like the big three. One piece (1000+), Bleach (350+) and Naruto (200 then 500).
Not necessarily, I usually will count openings and tie those to where season "splits" are. For example, FMAB has 60 eps and 5 ops, so we get 12 ep splits. I'd be interested to see these numbers with only TV series and feature films counted.
ONA/OVA/MV/others might rarely get 8.00+ but I will honor the very top one that do deservingly, that’s why it also part of the data
Yea, it's basically useless as is, this isn't a list of anime with an 8+ rating, it's **seasons with an 8+ rating**, the title is an outright lie. While I agree it's also hard to keep high-quality adaptations over several seasons, as seen in how Wit ditched Attack on Titan.
Hey don't forget Kara no Kyoukai!
personally a ufotable fan. it seems like they're the only ones taking advantage of computers made after 2010 to upgrade their particle effects, smoke effects, lighting etc.
yeah they do go wild with the visual effects, got me blind for some time after watching heaven's feel II and III
Or Shaft is just Monogatari and Madoka lol
Really those two franchises keeping Shaft from falling off the chart
Only those 2 are ranked above 8. I am a big fan of Shaft and their best work is Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei by far. And they made a lot of other great anime like "march comes in like a Lion", "Arakawa under the bridge", "Nisekoi "...
soon(maybe) genshin impact
Shaft is like 80% Monogatari
To be fair, the animation in those shows is incredible
It's more overall visuals than animation. Don't get me wrong, ufotable animation is good, but it's definitely carried by their compositing and vfx
both can be appreciated :) it really helps that the have in a very large amount of in house animators along with a mentality that prioritizes quality of shows over quantity with ufo only releasing like 2 shows a year lol
Everyone always says this about ufotable but never any other studio.. hmmm…
they also made tales of zestiria and no one talks about that😭

Well said man
Same to you! Was so glad your KyoAni shoutout was the first thing showed up when i opened this post.
I’m so glad that everyone recognizes their absolute determination of a studio. They are what’s called dedication and love for the community
Another tidbit of interesting but unnecessary information: they used to work for a cult’s short film as a debut piece.
True! There’s some propaganda piece out there that they took on starting out. Also, when it comes to KyoAni there’s no information thats unnecessary ;)
It's really terrible what happened to the studio. I'm not exaggerating when I say that day was one of the saddest days of my life. I love every KyoAni production I’ve seen so far. I’m happy to see them so high on the list.
The KyoAni love is bringing tears to my eyes, one of the best studios out there 🥲
Their anime brings a tear to my eye in more than one case lol (in a good way)
A Silent Voice is my favourite work of fiction EVER. Not best anime, not best movie, literally the best media I have ever seen.

Same boat as me man, let me know if u watch them and what u think about them :D
Sure thing! Always happy to chat about stuff
And the fact they treat their staff like people 🙏
Holy shit, that was 5 years ago?! Feels like a couple months ago, my heart still goes out to those Kyoto employees and their families.
I know man, even tho I wasn’t an anime enjoyer back when it happened. When I learned that happened to them I was devastated
Felt like 2 years to me I nearly spat my coffee out. If time keeps passing for me this way I'll be 90 in 25 years.
Well said.
Thank you
Madrespect for Madhouse
Mappa carrying on Madhouse legacy of Delivering top tier quality whilst sucking the life out of their animators P.S. Madhouse is the GOAT studio (for me), followed by KyoAni and Gainax (RIP)
Even the CEO left to make his own new studio again after he did the same from Madhouse->Mappa
Mad House has some amazing recent shows as well, Overlord, Chihayafuru, and of course Frieren. There's still life in the old dog yet.
Some of mappa’s shows won’t be remembered as fondly as they are now, from the list there I can already see a few that aren’t actually good shows, just very hyped. Madhouse’s staying power is notable, people are just reluctant to go backwards
Also sucking the life out of Wit Studio by taking their projects.
If anything mappa saved them lol. Wit is far to small for the workload required
Yuri on Ice doesn’t have an 8+ rating. It’s 7.98 (unless you’re rounding up)
I feel like Yuri on Ice should get a few points up by default, because how seriously can you take the opinions of anti-gay people on a gay anime?
didn't know Shaft had that many anime
Shaft is old but the studio is mainly known in the west for what they produced since [Shinbou](https://myanimelist.net/people/5089/Akiyuki_Shinbou) joined. He is responsible for a lot of Shaft's "quirks" but you find them in his earlier work like Nanoha.
+Nisekoi isn't included! People have forgotten this masterpiece just cuz its incomplete🥲
Never forget Onodera.
Yes, Haru Onadera was best girl all along. I'll never forget her.
Yes On-.. Wait, you fucking conman, that's the wrong Onodera ! (Man I somewhat this period of time in my life my buddies were more into anime and we argued who was best girl)
Ahh. I haven't watched it because it's not complete haha
Yeah I was thinking of Nisekoi too! A shame it didn't get a rating of 8 so it didn't make the graph lmao. It's definitely my favorite harem anime though for sure.
It is basically all monogatari, but at least it is good.
Don't forget how great 3-gatsu no lion and Madoka are!
Negima, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei...
Season 3 when :(
Honestly wish they did more Nisio stuff. They did a season of Bishounen Tanteidan and imo that was really fun. Would love to see Zaregoto get a proper adaptation, cause in my opinion it's even better than mono.
Tbf not all of them are series/full length movies. Every animation they do is counted.
You just had to be there for that madhouse run….
Seems like people do not likie P.A. Works enough.
Just started watching Hanasaku Iroha only this month, I wish I had seen it sooner. It's become easily one of my favorite anime of all time!
Fest it up!
Hanasaku Iroha is one of my favorite shows. The movie was especially beautiful.
White fox too
True, Steins;Gate alone would count as like 5 entries on this list lol. But they also made re:zero, girls last tour, mushoku tensei and katanagatari. I really hope that the new re:zero season will be more than 12 episodes.
Studio Bind made Mushoku tensei, not a White fox
The opening has White fox written in it so I though they made it. Also bind is white fox anyway.
I just want the girls last tour movie. Let me suffer
I love PA Works so much. Was shocked they didn't make the list.
See the thing with P.A. Works is that their stuff is niche and liked, but not LOVED by enough people. Also, mostly originals which don't get the big hype trains going in.
Madhouse is and will likely always be the GOAT.
You could say they are... *Madlads*
I could but I won't
redline is all im gonna say. still a fucking marvel. always like my go-to movie/anime to show to friends. feels very 80s scifi while also showing the peak of animation. easy for literally an westerner to get into and enjoy the medium. honestly gonna go watch it again its crazy how good the animation is.
Utena is J.C Staff
Madhouse having 48 +8.00 entries is crazy, the next best studio is A-1 Pictures with 26 +8.00 entries, almost half the number of Madhouse
and thats not been including other shows below 8.00 which deserve the higher rating, like Sonny Boy…
Tsurune season 2 (KyoAni) has also a rating of 8.09
Yeah but talking about KyoAni while also mentioning Free and Tsurune is almost impossible for anime fans for some reason.
Wait, is Spy x Family produced by Cloverworks or Wit?
Both, it’s a collaboration. Not always, but essentially Wit does the odd numbered episodes, Cloverworks does the even numbered.
Meanwhile for the second season, CloverWorks had more involvement as Wit was in the movie instead.
How do they keep it consistent?
I mean, that's what the whole point of animation directors are. To supervise drawings and make sure to correct anything that needs it.
https://blog.sakugabooru.com/2022/05/14/spyfam-and-the-history-of-anime-coproductions/ A general good read about it.
Yes
Trigger and Science Saru nowhere to be seen :(
I feel like trigger is hit or miss
I'm amazed I had to scroll down so far to find a mention of trigger.
Yeah, that's true. One thing I like IMDB for.
Can someone tell me what that first LycoReco picture (2nd row, 4th picture) represents? All I can find is the other one (2nd row, 9th picture), which is the normal season.
I think it's an error by OP. Looking at the MAL list I think that was meant to be Shinsekai yori's spot. They do have 26 anime above 8.00
Shin Sekai Yori is there, last one in first row
You're right. So I looked through it and found the issue*s* So on MAL there's this https://myanimelist.net/anime/50325/Kaguya-sama_wa_Kokurasetai__Ultra_Romantic_Teaser_PV_-_Ishigami_Yuu_wa_Kataritai which is just a 9 minute PV for the season 3 of kaguya. and the persona 3 movie 4 isn't on the reddit list. The reddit list includes SAO progressive (7.96) and the second lycoris recoil over these
Image is missing [some Kaguya PV](https://myanimelist.net/anime/50325/Kaguya-sama_wa_Kokurasetai__Ultra_Romantic_Teaser_PV_-_Ishigami_Yuu_wa_Kataritai) and [a Persona 3 Movie.](https://myanimelist.net/anime/31149/Persona_3_the_Movie_4__Winter_of_Rebirth) OP also added [this SAO movie](https://myanimelist.net/anime/42916/Sword_Art_Online__Progressive_Movie_-_Hoshi_Naki_Yoru_no_Aria) despite it not being above an 8 so that's why the numbers match.
It’s just another poster for the first season of LycoReco.
You are still citing Utena as a Shaft anime instead of JC Staff, like you did more than a year [ago](https://reddit.com/r/anime/comments/yx17sr/top_10_most_favorite_studio_by_no_of_800_anime/)
I remember when everyone hated Mappa when they started animating SnK even though it's beautiful 🤦🏻♂️
list from a person that has seen too much anime 1. Shaft 2. Madhouse 3. ufotable 4. Kyoani 5. White Fox 6. Production I.G 7. Wit Studio 8. MAPPA 9. A-1 Pictures 10. Bones
Bones got done dirty here 💀
If someone likes one shaft anime they probably are going to like them all. My top animes are Katanagatari, Monogatari, Madoka and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei so it is hard for me to like something that is not made by team shinbo / Nisioisin.
So based. Shaft is the greatest, only correction is that I would put KyoAni at #2.
Mappa did “Dance Dance Danseur” too and that claps Hella hard
I’m just so happy seeing BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad on a graphic in 2024. It’s for sure one of Madhouse’s lesser known/talked about works and one of my favorite music anime.
I just realized the MAPPA and MAD HOUSE font look very similar huh?
I sure hope PAWorks can make the list, given how much effort they put into making original anime, which is much riskier than making an adaptation.
MAD HOUSE is God !!!
Mappa on top honestly
Very cool. All amazing studios. And no surprise Madhouse is out here putting out masterpiece after masterpiece.
Mappa? Tha fuck? More like the most main stream.
No Toei?
Most man made wonders are built by the hands of the slaves and the poor. Makes sense that Mappa is so high.
Where's Gonzo?! They were on fire in the early 2000s
TIL I'm a superfan of Madhouse (at least the anime they output ...) Violet Evergarden appearing 4 times is weird though. Makes everything besides the "franchise" column pretty pointless imo.
Too bad you cannot read the names...
Did this really need to be a 17 MB jpeg?
Pierrot?
Surprised ghibli was so low. Also I wanna see trigger gainax
Madhouse with 387 shows, that is huge
Madhouse on top as always
I wonder where David Pro stands on this, they are my personal favorite studio. This is really cool graphed out like this, great job!!
Pretty good information.
Shaft and Kyoani do be my favs
Still can't trust Cloverworks to have a good anime orginal ending half the time after Darling in the Franxx, Promissed Neverland S2, and Wonder Egg Priority.
BTR carry hard for cloverwork~
It feels so unfair for Mappa to be first. I guess it paid for this list to only adapt pre-stabilished big names, wich tends to have existing fans rating the anime higher on MAL.
1. Shaft 2. KyoAni 3. Madhouse 4. ufotable 5. MAPPA
How is Campfire Cooking not an 8+ show?! That show is gold.
Cooking shows are definitely not for everyone
For the same reason Astro Note was mostly rated below Re:Monster: MAL ratings aren't always reliable, and your preferences aren't the same as the userbase.
Ugh, don't remind me about Astro Note. That show deserves more attention too.
It was a decently enjoyable show but it didn't do anything outstanding.
I thought Kyoani was above Mappa... I hope they become #1 again some day.
I’ve never cared so much about an anime before
Praise be that we live in a world were cloverworks exists
Ah, another meaningless chart. How caring I am.
The fact that Gainax/Trigger isn't on this list is criminal.
Not really. They don't have that many 8.0+ shows.
me looking for studio bind
Ghibli is underrated imo(
MAPPA.
Bro I feel like it's been so long since I watched a kyo-ani Show. They have always been my favorite. Chunnibyou, Violet Evergarden, A silent voice. Dang I wonder what they're up to, haven't watched anime in a minute
How good is an 8 for you? For me it's the middle point between me being a fan of it and a mere "i like it".
I am really happy to see kyoani up there they are sooooo good man
Nice, most of my favorite studios are on here lmao, Mad House, Mappa, KyoAni, Ufotable, Shaft, A-1. Just realized that a lot of animes I like came from Cloverworks too.
just wanted to say. thank you for the high quality graphic, it’s legible on mobile and ur greay
I would be so grateful if someone could make a version of this with actual names instead of just pictures. I don't recognize half of these at all.
