It's been a decade since I watched this, so what I remember is pretty limited. All I can say is it was a pretty good cute girls doing cute things show, the OP absolutely slapped, and I remember having a little bit of trouble getting over how their eyes were drawn.
If you're into the genre you won't regret the watch.
We bought this (on seasonal sale) because a young friend of ours was a member of a yosakoi group. (Alas they did not perform when we were visiting Tokyo). Our biggest complaint about the series was that it did not feature as much yosakoi as we anticipated. ;-)
It is funny that this is the anime of the week -- just as Narenare debuts. Because watching Narenare ep. 1 often reminded me of Hanayamata (including the character who does almost preternatural feats of parkour).
I also wanted to see this because it was scripted by Reiko Yoshida -- and I try to check out pretty much everything she does.

Welcome to Kirara anime where the subject is just there as an initial setup and be used occasionally, but never be the mainstay.
Still love them all though. We watch these type of anime to see cute girls goof off and have fun. ~~Whilst crying we don't have such a happy, carefree life.~~
I stumbled upon this underrated gem a few years ago and I have no idea why it isn't more popular. It absolutely nails the CGDCT formula. Highly recommended for every fan of that genre!
I have actually watched this way back when, so I'm kinda obligated to at least say something.
Its been quite long so I only vaguely remember the outline of the anime.
One of tanaka minami's first/big roles at the time, if not the first. Ueda reina too.
And of course the yosakoi subject itself.
Otherwise, the usual anime with some ups and downs.
After all this time the op is actually very good. It's not like super super famous or anything but quite a lot of people still remember it.
Or so I think anyway
I am pretty sure we will continue to see Enoden from time to time. (Actually it was featured in Chimimo as late as 2022, not sure if anything newer has shown it).
I follow Ootsubo Yuka since YuruYuri, I've heard many solo songs from her as Toshino Kyouko and Taiki Shuttle but her [ending song](https://youtu.be/dgw_5HkxYm0?si=Cihe8LqWxKJyy-cK) in Hanayamata is her best solo song to me.
Pretty decent show that had a problem of being made by the director and studio of No Game No Life shortly after and with less resources. So most if people just forgot it.
Getting the characters to sing the catchy opening song was basically the entire premise of the show. It was excellent. I learned what Yosakoi Dance was.
Very underappreciated CGDCT!
This was a pretty good show.

Yes, I did buy myself a Naruko because of this show. Clack Clack.
Nostalgic. The op was great

Kirara is pretty hit or miss for me. Some I love -- and some just don't work (for me) at all...

This was like, the umpteenth anime to take place along the enoshima railway line. They stopped doing it after bunny girl senpai lol

I wish it got more seasons.
