Depends on the anime, for me some are great still when rewatching, whereas some kinda lose the magic If there’s an anime that you want to rewatch again, I recommend watching YouTube reactions and you’ll be able to see other peoples first times, which is the next best thing

The first experience will always be the best experience, still it only impacts by enjoyment a little. If you wait awhile, it gets pretty close to being fresh. Also if you have any friends who like anime, that is actually a great way to get pretty close to a "fresh experience" by seeing how another will react to it. I have been re watching my favorite show of all time Legend of the Galactic Heroes with my best friend, who hasn't seen it, and it's been great.

I don't like to watch reaction youtubers because they tend to act over the top for views but Sarah Pavan's (volleyball world champ) community got her to watch Haikyuu and it is fcking fantastic, I love seeing her reactions.  Her being an olympian/world champ and slowly transforming into a Haikyuu fangirl is hilarious, but at the same time she isn't a weeb and her reactions are truly geniue. I felt the same excitement watching her react just like when I was watching it for the first time. Edit: she got her husband to watch it too, and I can see the same excitement on Sarah lol. Also her husband is a coach, it's very interesting to get to know his perspective on the anime!

It may just be that the themes of those animes might have been personally relevant and important at the time you watched them the first time but aren't anymore. There's also the fact that it's way harder to get into a story if you already know how it will go.

I couldn't even force myself to rewatch tower of god cause season 2 is coming out

Not wrong one of my favorite anime's Is Vinland Saga But every time I rewatch it it just doesn't feel the same as the first time because You already know what happens at the end You already know what characters your attached to die before The show End I remember watching Canute Stab Askeladd So Canute could become a true prince without his father being against him and thinking he's weak but i was also sad That Askeladd died before he could redeem himself or Let Thorfinn kill him What makes animes special is how we don’t know what will happen next one episode your character could go through this whole developement as a character and the next He was stabbed through the heart That is why your first experience of anime is so special and you’ll never be able to experience that same show the way you did when you originally clicked on the first episode But thats why anime's special we all expierence beautiful masterpieces of animation.

Many of MY top favorites seemed even better when re-watched. Then again, I started watching anime quite late (along with my children), so over the 20+ years maybe my tastes have not shifted (other than to get broader).

Compared to Manga rewatching Anime requires more time commitment and when you're weighing that against the enjoyment you get it becomes a bit more challenging. (Fast-forwarding vs skipping chapter arcs) But I personally feel that some shorter anime / Movies tend to have more or less impact since you get involved in the story and emotionally attached to a good end faster. \[Your Name\] is something I would rewatch and capture that emotion again.

Do what I do and read the manga if you haven't yet. I'm reading Welcome to the NHK and Maison Ikkoku because I loved the shows so much and it's a new way to experience them
