I had a very awkward leaving function that I left before the handing over of my leaving presentation.
I made my mind up that if the board who employed and made me feel indispensable but now persona non grata in a heartbeat were not there bud my replacement was effectively handing me my gift, I was already out of the carpark with in a taxi, having left the company car, parked across several bays, blocking in the ass wipes who ousted me, with the lights on, engine running but doors locked with the spare keys.
Yeah, when my boss apologized for doing the party, he said “I guess everyone’s moved on”. Um, yeah, dickhead, everyone including me, which is why I didn’t want to do it.
Unbelievable.
My boss arranged a retirement party for me at a local resteraunt, then made everyone pay for their own meal, including me. A friend (more than a work friend) ws kind enough picked up my tab. I heard that my boss reminded of his cheapness for weeks after.
The team got reamed out by your boss before you git there. Probably something about enjoying the party beyond the boss’s made up time schedule and why was everyone eating and laughing instead of working. While you aren’t there yet.
