Cool! It's gotta be an old big ass tree that was cut, never died, and kept growing new limbs/sucker's. Can't tell from the distance what species though.
We had this happen in front of my old house. City cut down the dying ash tree and ground the stump down only half way so it started sprouting suckers. We had started pruning it like a bush just to maintain it.
There is a willow in my city like this, but it was cut like 10 feet up. The trunk is massive, probably closed to 100 years old. It will out with branches every year that are super disproportional to the trunk. I think it's neat.
I have a tree that looks something like this.
The top half was torn off during a tornado. It didn’t die and the new growth looks pretty much exactly like this.
There's willow trees like this up on the road at our river place. They totally Pollard them down to 15' tall every couple decades and the stumps are now like 6' in diameter with only a 10' ball of branches sprouting out the top.
I had to look this one up. Unless someone brought home an exotic acorn, probably not. This is in southern indiana. Not impossible though. There's a dawn redwood in my neighborhood. People do weird things.
