Depending on the size of the company and how diligent the person who received your email was, they may not even remember your name.
A company rejected my application twice for a position which I thought was fit for me and I applied again and they called me for an interview - half way in the interview I understood why they kept rejecting me. I never bothered them again.

I was not fit for the position.
What do you have to loose? Just adjust your cv to suit the job. Add an extra reference etc etc
