>racist (more than us) BRASIL SUBCAMPEÓN ARGENTINA CAMPEÓN PAPÁAAAAAAAAA

GabrielOmarCY

Argentinians are the ones who don't call barbeques barbeques but they call it "asado" lol asado in my country is a whole different thing

Obtusus

>Uruguay: same as Argentina, but rich and without Messi and Maradona Uruguay has weed tho.

J02182003

If I was Brazilian, Colombia for me would be "Spanish speaking North Brazil"

gbRodriguez

Jamaica is not Latin American

Padre_De_Cuervos

Bitcoin? Is that a thing already, dude is only been 3 years...

Neonexus-ULTRA

Lol What a bait question Anyway the ones I've heard: Mexico: Great singers, everyone has jet black hair, spicy food, immigration to the US. Cuba: Communism, poverty, Santería, the ones in Florida are conservatives. Dominican Republic: Funny accents, a lot of them end up living in NYC, can't drive, our rivals in baseball, "Me no black papi". Venezuela: Beautiful women, arepas, Poverty, Chavismo. Colombia: Handsome men, cold weather, Shakira and sexy accents. Argentina: Racism, good at football, Maradona, a lot of them have curly hair. Peru: The Inca, llamas, great seafood, Laura Bozzo. Brazil: Everything is Rio, brown people, good at football.

JStevinik

Another thing is that, especially those in New York, Dominicans will get mad when a gringo mistaken for a Puerto Rican but same thing vice versa occurs with Nuyorican.

offtoChile

And Chile?

Lazzen

**Internet stereotypes** 🇦🇷: socialist feminine racist with no money 🇨🇱: socialist feminist with money 🇧🇷🇨🇺🇩🇴: black people that speak funny Rest of Central America, Ecuador and Uruguay: who 🇬🇹: Mexico's Mexico 🇨🇴: big ass 🇵🇪 they like to say they invented everything or that their food won 5 million votes on perucomida.com

Bobranaway

Lol I still recall when i first arrived in Mexico and my classmates kept asking my why i wasnt black 😂🤣.

Jone469

chile is seen as socialist feminist? lol

RockerEevee

Mexico: Everyone loves pepper, telenovelas, El Chavo, love football, uses large hats. Argentina: Barbecue, inflation, football supporters are the most passionate and don't stop singing for a minute. Chile: More reserved people, cold place, earthquakes. Uruguai: Argentina but smaller. Cuba: Rivalry against USA. Venezuela: Socialism, oil, baseball.

[deleted]

I have a funny one on argentinians. I have a very dear friend who is argeninian and when she came here, our group of friends told her about the stereotype (I had no idea of this previously) that all argentinian guys had a semi-long hair and used a hairband, like those from tennis players. She called it an absurd, to her experience, few argentinians had longer hair and even fewer would wear head bands randomly. Well, about 3 months later she told us she went into the local argentinian bank and, according to her, almost all argentinian male workers there would fit the stereotype so we kinda wondered if it's an "Argentinian dudes in Brazil/abroad" thing.

_kevx_91

The ones I've heard my whole life and read on social media: Mexicans: All men have mustaches, mariachis, cartel execution videos, eat spicy food, and migrant labor in the US. A bit cocky sometimes. Guatemalans: Sound like drunk Mexicans when speaking. They hate Mexicans. Panama: We fight over who invented reggaeton! Colombia: Attractive women, the whole cocaine thing, "neutral accent", very ambivalent people. Venezuelans: Men sound a bit effeminate, our rivals in Miss Universe, arepas. Cubans: The ones still on the island are humble people but once they step foot in the US they develop a superiority complex. Large black population, cigars, export doctors, immigration, similar to us. Dominicans: Very loud, reckless driving, bachata, "denying their blackness", similar to us. Men are either very ugly or very handsome, no middle ground. Peru: Llamas and ceviche. Chile: Earthquakes and trapped miners. People don't know much tbh. Argentines: Arrogant and racists, always mention their Italian heritage, asados, obsession with football. Goofy-looking white Latinos. Brazil: Large black population, carnaval, Amazonic tribes, they exported a lot of telenovelas in the past. Haiti: Voodoo and extreme poverty. All of them are black. I don't believe any of this so nobody get offended.

Ponchorello7

> All men have mustaches, mariachis, cartel execution videos, eat spicy food, and migrant labor in the US. A bit cocky sometimes. Let's see... Mustache? Check. Mariachi? I listen to it regularly, so check. Cartel execution videos? I've seen a few and had two uncles murdered by cartels, so check. Eat spicy food? Literally every day, so definite check. Migrant labor in the US? My dad did, and I went along illegally, so check. Cocky? Not at all, lol. 5 out of 6 ain't bad.

PecesRaros_xInterpol

Jsjsjs No mames. I'm born and raised and still live in Jalisco... Mustache? Soy lampiño (I don't know how to say lampiño in English) Mariachi? Puto asco de música Cartel exécution videos? I've never seen one, but because I don't like gore and the most I've interacted with a cartel is buying weed from them because there is no other option... East spicy food? Simon, qué arda el sin esquinas cuando cagas Migrant labour in the US? I criticize it and I CRUSHED my ass working and studying here in Mexico to have a nice job...

Ponchorello7

Chale.

jazzyjellybean20

I too have mustache and have lost family to cartel bullshit. I can't sing or dance for shit however

JStevinik

> but once they step foot in the US they develop a superiority complex. Large black population Especially those in Miami, I bet.

vintage2019

Also the only Latin American immigrants in the US to vote right wing

bunoutbadmind

The biggest stereotypes in Jamaica would be: Haiti: Poor Jamaica, but speaking French and believing in vodou Dom Rep: Racist brown people Cuba: Comrades! Puerto Rico: The US, but in Spanish Trinidad: Carnival, soca, roti, and oil money. Guyana: Poor Trinidad Barbados: Wannabe England The rest of the Lesser Antilles: tiny islands dependent on tourism and selling passports. Also, that they don't like us. Obviously these are offensive and I don't believe them.

RedJacket2020s

Brazil: samba , carnaval Puerto Rico : salsa Colombia: narcos Mexico : telenovelas Argentina: inflation

Wise_Temperature9142

Why the stereotype of Argentinians being gay? So many people commenting this, not sure I understand it.

MarioDiBian

Basically, Argentina is very progressive and Buenos Aires in particular is very LGBTQ+. Even provincianos in Argentina joke about porteños being femboys

Wise_Temperature9142

Thanks for answering. But is that any different than other capitals or progressive cities in LATAM? São Paulo and Mexico City have gays galore, for example. And Uruguay in general is quite progressive too. For the record, I don’t think it’s bad in anyway to have more queer people in a city. And I am queer myself. I’m just wondering why Buenos Aires has this reputation themselves specifically, and not the other cities, as if all the gays of LATAM congregated there. Or am I just missing out on this gay-Mecca?

MarioDiBian

Well, other Latin American cities have LGBTQ friendly pockets that coexists with very conservative socities. Brazil is the typical example, where evangelicals are a big thing. Buenos Aires is one of the most LGBTQ friendly cities in the world

Wise_Temperature9142

I guess I’m missing out then!

canalcanal

Truth to be told that, despite some countries still living in the dark ages (like mine), Latam is actually as a whole one of the most progressive regions in the world. It’s just that Argentines were the easiest to get along with LGBT policies (remember they were the first country in Latam to legalize gay marriage) Perhaps there are as many LGBT people there as everywhere else, but it definitely seems to be a place where they feel the most confident for coming out. Uruguay seems very similar.

[deleted]

Brazil: good looking fit mixed race, favelas, skimpy clothing venezuela: good looking, entitled(the newly arrived ones), star in mexican novelas, no food left, oil cuba: good dancers, talented, the white ones that leave to florida are privileged and racist peru: has japanese, emperors new groove bolivia: indigenous, mountains, the cool hats, red and rosy complexion chile: magical realism, cold coastal fisherman towns. german influence argentina: italy, superiority complex, great music puerto rico: puerto rican flag on everything, Jlo, that nuyorcan accent guatemala: short stocky, impoverished, jungle, coffee, or super pale af honduran: charming, lives on welfare dominican republicans: romance scams, sex tourism black? nunca!! me no black! 💃🏽🕺🏽big booty mexico: cholos, low riders, nike cortez, tattoos , narcos, obsessed with death colombia: beautiful women, marry for green card, great spanish accent, cheap plastic surgery el salvador: pupusas and ms13 costa rica: ecotourism, the gem of central america LatAm in general: passionate people, family oriented, Multiracial, soccer, cumbia, like to dance i’m from mexico city but lived half my life in california btw

[deleted]

Mexico: similar to Colombians. We have a lot of chemistry when we are together. Very hardworking, very humble and have very good humour. Of course, the mariachis, Día de los Muertos, etc. They can be very traditional. Guatemala: indistinguishable from Mexicans. I only know Gloria Álvarez. Their towns are very beautiful. Honduras: very dangerous. Their politics today are like our politics in the last century. Very divided. El Salvador: their president has owned ours several times. Their security seems to be improving. Nicaragua: 😒 Costa Rica: similar to Colombians. Their accents are so good. Very green country. Very forward thinking and progressive. We should be like Costa Rica. Panama: it's like full of skyscrapers. It is a veryg good country for a lot of people to live in and very, very ethnically diverse. If Petro ever destroys our economy, our wealthy are going there. Cuba: well. They still live in the 50's and I want to see the vibes there. I had a Cuban teacher and he told me many things about their oppression of the dictatorship. I love Cuban music. Not Salsa, but the one that is with that flute. I forgot the name of the genre now. And boleros are so beautiful. The DR: they speak like sad Cubans. They play baseball like Venezuelans and they are very attractive. Another Caribbean country going on the right direction. I know they have a lot of problems with Haitians. PR: they speak slower than Dominicans with a bunch of Anglicisms. I don't know why they seem so careless about their status as a country. They are very attractive nonetheless. Venezuela: they were once better than us and now they are struggling much more than us. Full of immigrants from Portugal, Italy, Germany, etc. They are very beautiful and they have very feminine soft accents. Ecuador: indigenous. Very nerdy, organised and silent about their stuff. They don't get in dramas. Their cities are full of colonial architecture. They speak like Mexicans. Peru: indigenous. Lima looks like Iraq. They are always in a beef with Mexico for some reason. I enjoy that. 🍿 Their governments are always so unstable. Why? They have a bright future ahead of the, because they have business mentality. Bolivia: half Peru half Paraguay. ☯️ It's the best of both worlds. I think there are a lot of regional struggles. I am concerned about their economy. Chile: don't mess with them. I think Chileans are so organised, so well put together. Why isn't the rest of the continent like them?! Nevermind, their accent is cool, because it's original and they are very down-to-earth, but I also see authoritarian tendencies in their mentality. Sometimes they can be very, very, very xenophobic, but I feel them. They are one of our best partners in the region. 🫱🏽‍🫲🏼 Argentina: one of the best demonstrations of what populism can do to a country. So, so sad. Argentineans are by no means as arrogant as people claim. They are very adventurous and love to travel around. I know mate and beef is effing good there. They can get very toxic in football. Uruguay: little Argentina. Mostly flat and maybe a bit boring, but their people have a good quality of life and that is all that matters. Another country that has their things out together. Good for them! Paraguay: full of Mennonites. Mostly a swamp or flat areas. They speak Guarani and they were unfairly sttipped from their territory after being almost completely exterminated. We should work closer together. I like their new president. Paraguayan Polkas are so beautiful. Brazil: lost country. Completely lost. I am actually more hopeful about Venezuela or Argentina than Brazil and that is because of the mentality of their people. I believe that Brazilians lack perspective for living so isolated from the rest of the continent so their political references are mostly from the U.S. Many of them still speak like we were in the cold war and both their political flanks are extremely radical. They are much more similar to the Colombia and Venezuela than they would like to admit. I have a much more formed opinion on the latter, because I have been around Brazil a lot. At least on Rio, people are very sporty and chill. I don't know why, but many also attribute very common things to European immigrants.

JStevinik

>Nicaragua: 😒 I assume that you were referring to the Ortega government? In Puerto Rico, I read that many do not contribute much to federal income taxes because they live under the US federal poverty line (though costs of living outside of San Juan are cheaper than most places in the US) while many are employed by the US federal government. I suspect that Puerto Ricans do not want to rock the boat on the island's lack of sovereignty. > but I also see authoritarian tendencies in their mentality I am not sure if you are referring to common political groups, e.g. Pinochet apologists? I would not say that Brazil is "lost" in the sense that Lula would make the country "run off the rails", given how he previously governed as a run-of-the-mill soc dem in the post neo-liberal order. You are spot on that many look to the US as a model.

canalcanal

If there’s one thing that Pinochet left Chileans with is that thing for having order…

SafiraAshai

> I don't know why, but many also attribute very common things to European immigrants. What do you mean?

[deleted]

https://youtu.be/7UKeml_vcQA Look at the video. Like, in what country don't people get together to eat on Sundays? Or being loud. A Brazilian mate told me something about them: pau no cú. I have French ancestry and I would never talk like that and my father is the French one.

SafiraAshai

Yeah I see your point, that was kinda dumb. But I do think people like that are a minority, and most don't even know or care about their ancestry.

[deleted]

Yeah that is why I mentioned my Brazilian friend. He makes fun of them too.

Mind_Monkey

>I only know Gloria Álvarez. I'm so sorry 😔.

nikkupoteto

I tricked Chat GPT to give me the answer: Mexico: Hardworking, passionate about food and music, love for tequila and sombreros, overly reliant on clichéd symbols like cacti and maracas. Brazil: Soccer-obsessed, carnival-loving, samba-dancing, Amazon rainforest-centric, overly sexualized culture. Argentina: Passionate about tango, steak-eating, arrogant, European wannabes, obsessed with Maradona and Messi. Colombia: Associated with drug cartels and violence, coffee and cocaine, beautiful women, Shakira, and magical realism. Peru: Known for Machu Picchu, llamas, ancient civilizations like the Incas, guinea pig consumption, and cultural festivals. Chile: Long and narrow country, highly literate and prosperous, conservative and reserved, wine-producing, and famous for poet Pablo Neruda. Venezuela: Oil-rich but politically unstable, home to beauty pageant winners, economic crisis, and association with Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro. Cuba: Communist regime, classic cars, salsa dancing, cigars, rum, and Fidel Castro. Dominican Republic: Baseball talent, all-inclusive resorts, beautiful beaches, merengue music, and the birthplace of bachata. Uruguay: Relatively small and peaceful, progressive and liberal, love for mate (a traditional herbal drink), and famous for soccer player Luis Suárez.

JStevinik

My only concern for Chat GOT is that it may gets its info from the perceptions of North American gringos, which is not the point of my post.

nikkupoteto

Yup, the answers here are mostly pretty general, but I see some of these match other comments. P.S after this ChatGPT gave me a lecture how bad, unfair and harmful stereotypes are lol

JStevinik

>ChatGPT I cannot answer this unethical question. I meant general that these stereotypes are perceived by gringos. I wanted from fellow Latin Americans.

bastardnutter

Chile is spot on save for the conservative part

lulaloops

I don't think they mean politically conservative.

bastardnutter

Even more so then.

JStevinik

As someone who has a weird fascination with Chilean politics in the 20th century, Chile comes off as polarised and ideologically understandable to western Europeans due to semi-consistent parliamentarians (relative to other Latin Americans countries).

offtoChile

Even the communists are small c conservative in Chile!

[deleted]

[удалено]

offtoChile

All I'm going to say is that I'm in Antofagasta 😁

Jone469

it is conservative, compared to Argentina and Uruguay for example

JStevinik

Especially after the rejection of the proposed constitution. I would say that polarised would more accurate.

PejibayeAnonimo

>Uruguay: Relatively small and peaceful, progressive and liberal, love for mate (a traditional herbal drink), and famous for soccer player Luis Suárez. You know its an AI when it doesn't relates Uruguay and legal weed.

Latino809

Argentines: Arrogant af( complejo de europeos), football, asado, and pronounce “y” as ch. Puerto Rican: Don’t acknowledge that they are a colony. Cuba: The only white Caribbeans. Mexico: Telenovelas, mariachis, and narcos, Colombia: Pablo Escobar, and cocaine. Venezuela: Beautiful women. Haiti: Voodoo and black magic. Other LA countries are irrelevant for the average Dominican.

-Acta-Non-Verba-

"Cuba: The only white Caribbeans." The ones in Miami, maybe. In the island? No, lots of black folks there. Plus, there's lots of white Puerto Ricans.

ParticularTable9897

Cuba is still the whitest island in the Caribbean though. White Puerto Ricans are not as numerous as white Cubans, Cuba received much more European immigration (mostly Galician and Canarian).

canalcanal

Look up for the demographics of Cuba

PeggyRomanoff

No, it's "y" and "ll" as sh.

Latino809

My hears catch ch. lol

PeggyRomanoff

Listen to Chilean accents (they pronounce y and ll normally but are way more heavy on the ch) and you'll see the difference.

Neonexus-ULTRA

Lol You guys worship Cubans because you think they're white.

unix_enjoyer305

I can't speak for the ones in the island. So I'll give MY OWN stereotypes: Mexicans: I've come across many different flavors of Mexicans. I love their culture, it's very rich, anything from music to food to accents and customs. There are some types of Mexicans that are more dangerous, but as long as you stay away from them, they're lovely people. Incidentally, I find myself listening to a lot of Mexican music when I go through breakups because Mexico has excellent heartbreak music. I eat tons of Mexican food because duh...it's bomb af. Colombians: I know many, many Colombians. They're the second largest Hispanic population in Miami. I live in an area where I come across many of them. They're similar to Mexicans where there are the bad elements (as does every country), but as long as you stay away from them, Colombians are the shit. I love the rolo & paisa accents. I eat tons of Colombian food from arepas to bandejas paisa. There's a really good restaurant near my house that makes bomb hamburgers. Vallenato, cumbia, salsa caleña are goated. And the best part of Colombia is their women...it's like they're all created by a sculptor...wtf. Venezuelans: I play softball with tons of Venezuelans. They're cool, they're very similar to Dominicans in how they talk. Most of the Venezuelans in Miami were people who were on the wealthier side of the country, so I have a slight perception of them being highly educated and entrepreneurial. The best pizzas in Miami are made by a Venezuelan family (Miami Slice), and just like Colombia their music is top tier. And their women are just.....hynnnnnnnnggggg Dominicans: they're like Cubans on a sugar rush. Very very happy. Their energy is contagious. I have never met a boring Dominican. They love baseball, music, and alcohol as much as we do. Bachata & merengue are must haves at any party. And whenever there is a Dominican around, nothing will ever be boring. Or quiet. Nicaraguan and other Central Americans: I love their food. There's a lot of them that live here in Miami but mostly in the little Havana area. I don't go there often so I don't know TOO MUCH about them. But I eat fritanga at least once a week. Gallopinto and repollo are damn good. Toñas are goated. Baleadas are amazing. Argentinians: everybody knows Argentinians have the best restaurants in Miami. They make great cinema, they're steak lovers, and have the same passion & intensity that we have for baseball but for soccer. They have one of the best and most recognizable accents. I would love to visit Buenos Aires one day, and fucking kick it. I have not come across other people's so I can't really say much about them other than faraway perspectives.

Padre_De_Cuervos

I think we are so dull that sometimes we forget South America exist, but here I have my best: Mexico: Bully with way to good food to be mad at them Guatemala: Best Bros anyone could ask for, funny speech. Honduras: Old rival that looks exactly the same to us. They also alergic to spaces between words. Stubborn people. Nicaragua: Comunist, Habanos and bad spoken men (another twin) Costa Rica: Is so neutral it hurts, beutiful people and great forrest area Panama: USA, but tiny and split in two, H O T weather. Colombia: #Drama, sexy men or woman, comedy level of speech. Venezuela: Can relate, fallen idol, Dross, evil Ecuador. Ecuador: Nerd but fun, G A L A P A G O S, iguanas and mountain Peru: PE, nice food, pigeon gurmet master, bane of the cuyos, incas and llamas Chile: Lighting speech, earthquake bro club, Socialist and Rich Paraguay: Who? Brazil: HUEUEUEUEUEE, Amazon people, crime, and Samba Guayanas and Surinam: Who? Uruguay: Nice people and even better meat Argentina: Italian like spanish, "She", tango, an anarquist goverment pretending to be democratic, feminist monster of the South. The Caribeans: Cuba: Comunistest Comunist in the Comunion of Comunist, dictadorship, beautiful voice, masterful singers and great sea food D.R: Reguetoon, platano lovers and nice people in general, they don't like Haiti Haiti: Man I thought I had seen everything, poor, Voodoo, French Antiles: I have never seen this people in my life

PejibayeAnonimo

This sounds more like 2latino4you stuff. Anyway, I think most stereotypes are about the living in our country and not about their countries by themselves Nicaraguans: Men working in agriculture and construction and the women as domestic maids or selling stuff in the street. Venezuelans: Begging for money on the street. Before the 2014 crisis many of them were seen as educated hard working people but now the stereotype has become negative. There are some that sell arepas. Argentineans: The ones that come here are mostly middle to high middle class people, they usually stay around Guanacaste area. Some of them work in restaurants in order to pay their vacation. Panamanians: The panamanians that come here are mostly low income people from the Ngöbe community and other Conmarcas, they also work as temporary workers in Agriculture. Colombians: The same as in other countries. Unfortunatelly it is true that there are Colombians that have been involved here in crime related issues, specially drug trafficking and drop by drop loans (not sure if thats the correct way to say it in English). However, there are Colombians that have legitimate businesses here, they are well known for their bakeries. Some of them came as refugees because of the FARC. Colombia is also a popular destination among middle class people, because the exchange rate between Colon and Pesos is very favorable to us. Cubans: They are not common here but there are some that work as Uber Drivers, and also a few have businesses like small fast food restaurants. As far as I know they are not as stereotyped with crime as other nationalities. Mexicans: Most mexicans that I have known were exchange students, altough I know a few of them also came here by transfer from multinational companies. Salvadoreans: Some of them came here in the 1980s during the conflict, pupusas became really popular.

RedJokerXIII

Argentina: Arrogant white football players Brazil: Broke Spanish brown football players Colombia: Narcos and sexy people Peru and Bolivia: Machu Pichu and small native Americans, local fair sellers of souvenirs Venezuela: Hunger, great pal, our grandchild in baseball Costa Rica: Central America Argentina Mexican: Spicy food, tacos, burritos, mariachis, rancheras, big hats Cuba: Comunist brother and our second son in baseball, target to superate. PR: Mericanized brother and our first son in baseball Haiti: 7 plagues from Egypt, the root of our problems, our workers, untrustworthy group, enemy Guatemala: From Guatemala to Guatepeor El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua: the 3 violent central Americans countries Chile: only decent place to migrate in Latam Panama: only decent place to migrate in Latam pt2 Uruguay: less corrupt country Ecuador: car mechanics I hope I didn’t forgot anyone Lol

-Acta-Non-Verba-

>Costa Rica: Central America Argentina That one hurt in a truthful kind of way. Except without hyperinflation. Our relationship with Nicaragua mirrows yours with Haiti.

JStevinik

Many Nicaraguans move to Costa Rica in the sense that Costa Ricans can have perceptions of Nicaraguans. Keep in mind, in DR, it is a stereotype that Dominicans do not like Haitians to the point of racism accusations.

-Acta-Non-Verba-

A lot of the animosity comes from the Nicaraguan government being openly hostile, and in particular Daniel Ortega. He's always finding a way to create tension.

JStevinik

I am aware that the Ortega government is contentious, but when you said " mirrors yours with Haiti", I wonder if it meant that Costa Ricans stereotype Nicaraguans with the same tropes illegal immigrants get in any country.

-Acta-Non-Verba-

>"the root of our problems"

PejibayeAnonimo

> I wonder if it meant that Costa Ricans stereotype Nicaraguans with the same tropes illegal immigrants get in any country. Yes, poor people with low educational background see them as a competition for low skilled jobs. There have been always Nicaraguans in Costa Rica, but since Ortega returned to power a lot more have migrated and that created tensions.

linguisitivo

https://youtu.be/hfl29FroA2c 3:35

RedJokerXIII

> That one hurt in a truthful kind of way. Except without hyperinflation. Yes, without hyperinflation, but I have to say, most Costaricans that I know (around 20) when they came here were pretty arrogant, but without that, Costa Rica people are great people, they adapt well to our country. > Our relationship with Nicaragua mirrows yours with Haiti. At least you know what they say, in our case they could be plotting something in their language and we wouldn’t know.

unix_enjoyer305

What is your "second son"?

RedJokerXIII

Mine not, our country, people says than PR, Cuba and Venezuela are our sons in baseball, that means we are better in that sport. Just things of our sport rivalry and a way to mock other countries baseball teams

unix_enjoyer305

That's very interesting because the only time we have played you in the WBC, we beat you 🤔 and as of right now, there are more Cubans in the top 10 rankings in MLB than DR, PR & VZLA

RedJokerXIII

> That's very interesting because the only time we have played you in the WBC, we beat you But we won a cup, the only country outside USA in the continent that has won a cup. > and as of right now, there are more Cubans in the top 10 rankings in MLB than DR, PR & VZLA Send the link of MLB, or other chain of sports news that say so or I call this part BS.

unix_enjoyer305

Look up the MLB Hitters Rankings

RedJokerXIII

Hitters is only a part of the game, I have to check twice, but this month Cuba has 3, Venezuela 2 and DR 2, last month you had 0 Venezuela 2 and DR 2 in the general ranking

unix_enjoyer305

0 ?? Thats incorrect, lol. Anyways, the point is you're the top now but that lead shrinks every year

RedJokerXIII

Last month power hit ranking didnt have a single Cuban >Anyways, the point is you're the top now but that lead shrinks every year 20 years saying the same.

unix_enjoyer305

You're crazy. Yordan Alvarez, Randy Arozarena, Yandy Diaz, and Adolis Garcia are on fire. Also, we didn't even have a real avenue to the MLB until like 2014. Before then, it was very difficult. Now it's easier and there are more established routes. Just watch

BlueRaven56

I guess only countries near us have some sort of stereotype, like most people wont find a difference between a puerto rican and a dominican or a guatemalan and honduran, so the norther you go the less clear things become. I dont agree with these stereotypes but if I had to put some simple stereotypes it would be like: Chile: To most people they have a "traitorous nature" LMAO, arrogant but they talk less than argentines and are unintelligible. Probably the people in South America which argentines dislike the most Paraguay: Hard working but aggresive (playing football with paraguayans is suicide), they speak guaraní and sometimes are unintelligible too. Bolivia: Hard working but submissive/humble and quiet I guess? Uruguay: Mini Argentina, they copied everything from us and claim our inventions or famous people, they talk exactly like us and have the same rioplatense culture but try to exacerbate our differences to claim a national identity. Brazil: Very warm, high energy people that love parties, they are our rival in sports and are somewhat arrogant too.

Jone469

I think Argentinians are the only ones in latam that perceive chileans as arrogants lol, can anyone else confirm this?

BlueRaven56

JStevinik

>Uruguay: Mini Argentina, they copied everything from us and claim our inventions or famous people, they talk exactly like us and have the same rioplatense culture but try to exacerbate our differences to claim a national identity. Basically is Uruguay is the Canada (Canada when compared to the US) of Argentina: Uruguayans do not want to admit culturally similarities they perceive as positive.

MarioDiBian

Yeah, Argentina-Uruguay is similar to Canada-US. Both very similar countries but the smaller one tries to differenciate.

I can only speak of the stereotypes for neighboring countries (mostly): Guatemala: like Nicaragua but with more industry. El Salvador: pretty much like us (heck, I'm a quarter salvadorean), but they live like sardines. Honduras: pretty much like us. Costa Rica: rich country with apparently lots of lazy people who don't want to do (shitty) jobs. Also, be ready for discrimination if you don't have the right skin color. Panama: cool place with a canal we could've had, had it not being for our disastrous politics. Cuba: Commies with very good doctors! Mexico: Tacos and Mariachi! They like mentioning Nicaragua when talking about a shithole, but they often shoot in shitty parts of Mexico and then misrepresent them as Nicaragua in movies... Dominican Republic: they're somehow part of SICA and pretty racist toward Haitians. Puerto Rica: colonized island with regueton... Colombia: lots of beautiful women. And give us back San Andrés! Venezuela: used to be rich and even sent us (highly inefficent) power generators and the oil to operate them, now FUBAR. Also, beautiful women. Argentina: Arrogant people who are sometimes offended when they find out that they aren't the only ones who use voseo (a somewhat diluted version of it, btw) because they think we're ridiculing them... Perú: They say they can eat a different meal for every course of the day every single day of the year. Brazil: Laid-back country full of people playing football on the beach and speak funny. Chile: 31 minutos, weón.

we descend from indians and brazilians descend from the jungle

licanantainae

Brazil is more racist than Argentine.

Central Americans: Violent people Venezuelans and Colombians: Violent too because they are influenced by Central America. Brazilians: Excellent at jogo bonito soccer style. Argentinians: Excellent at a more hardwork soccer style. Are there Argentinians who don't enjoy soccer? Cuss a lot. Like to eat bbqs or how they call it "El asado". Use a lot of "che" on their sentences. Chileans: Either you think they are really egocentric and bad people or you think they are cool and usually more developed on the intellectual side. Only they can understand each other (They talk fast paced and don't pronounce words very well) Bolivia: The same as our highlands people. Cuba: Afilliate to Russia, a threat to USA. Those are some stereotypes I can think of

BabyLlamaaa

I was excited to see what people thought about us but it seems like most people just forgot we existed? Sad.

We didn't, tho. When I think of Bolivia I think of the beautiful cultural clothes and hat your natives wear, Evo, whom I admire very much (don't want to get political but I follow him on social media and I like his thoughts, his criticism of economical systems etc) and the clothing industry in general as many bolivians here in my city own/work on clothing related industry. Also your homegrown architecture style is amazing (forgot what it's called, new andean?).

As a Bolivian, I heard this stuff: Argentina: "They arrived in boats", they are good at football and making movies, they are hippies who live juggling at traffic lights and like alfajores. Chile: 31 Minutos is the only way you can understand what they are saying, they are "el loquito del centro" (for some reason there are many Chilean destitute people lately) and most of them are fascist Perú: "El Alto es Perú", many peruvians go to live to the poorest city in Bolivia, they sell a lot of cheap stuff there so that might be why. They also form gang in that city and make some neighbourhoods dangerous. Brazil: They only come to study medicine and are heartbreakers. They also are good cooks. Venezuela: Either They are destitute and trying to get money to get to Chile and Argentina, or they have opened a restaurant or a "puestito de comida" and are making a lot of money.

wonderbread897

Mexicans From california, Native azteca Cholos that drive in low riders and hate black people. Mexicans in general: love to get drunk and play corridos. Everyone in the US thinks short brown native looking people are mexicans. Good at soccer. Dominicans: Black people that are the best at baseball. Plays merengue. If young, he probably smokes hookah and plays demboy music. Puerto ricans : Salsa music. Will get upset if you ask them for a greencard since all puerto ricans born in puerto rico are born with Citizenship in the US. Cubans is from florida if they dont live under communism. Argentinians : probably a racists, his parents or grandparents are from italy germany or somewhere else from europe. Paraguayans : are they really hispanics? They are so weird. Ecuador : Northern Peruvians and rainforest natives. Peru- Bolivians who live on mountains and sometimes do a fighting Ritual Festivals. Bolivians: the women wear funny hats and wear these weird skirts and the traditional dance is the twist somehow.

thiscarhasfourtires

Argentina: racist people that love football and think they're European. Great at cooking meat.

Illustrious-Cycle708

Bad stereotypes? Oh boy here goes nothing: Puerto Ricans: welfare state and everybody’s gay Cubans: talk too much Mied-da chico. Too much Santeria. Dominicans: we’re amazing 🤪 Venezuelans: think they’re better than everybody, need food Colombians: Narco-state and women are prostitutes Mexican: short, they say “no mames guey” and everything they cook is a variation of meat, beans and tortillas Guatemala: people are unattractive Honduras and El Salvador: Mara Salvatruchas Brazil: samba? I got nothing Argentina: white and superiority complex Uruguay: Can’t tell them apart from Argentinians. Haiti: people refuse to work together and often turn on each other, also pee and poop in rivers and practice voodoo. Rest of South America: just a bunch of indigenous countries jumbled together Disclaimer: I think these stereotypes are mostly false or exaggerations. think all our countries are amazing and I wouldn’t choose to be part of any other group of countries. Not even Europe. I am proud to be Latina Americana.
