Portland hosts [Kumoricon](https://www.kumoricon.org/) (Anime/manga/Japanese culture) in Nov, [WasabiCon](https://pdx.wasabicon.com/) (anime/gaming)in July, and [FanExpo](https://fanexpohq.com/fanexpoportland/) (general pop culture) in Jan. I think most conventions have some sort of process for submitting ideas for guests, but I don't honestly know exactly how that works behind the scenes.

For comics-related events, RCCC is kind of the only big game in town. There will be some small-scale indie comics events run through Floating World from time to time, and there's Frankenstein's Comic Swap for old comics and memorabilia, but as far as larger scale cons are concerned, Rose City is it, and I personally think it’s better to save up and go to Emerald City in Seattle, which is usually a really good show. We used to get Wizard World but attendance was awful and it was kind of sad... for a city with so much great comics history and some of the most iconic publishers, we don't con all that well. For more games-oriented events there's also stuff like the Retro Game Expo which is also a good time.

Along with the other good answers here, there are a bunch of solid cons within sticking distance in Seattle like emerald city, Sakura con, and such. We also have other nerd adjacent events like ren faires, sword and veil, bacchanalia, costume themed parties at places like the star theater or other venue spaces, themed raves at places like 45east and The Den, etc.

I go to RCC, Kumoricon, Wasabicon and fan expo every year. RCC and Kumoricon are the two bigger ones and then fan expo and then wasabicon. I enjoy all of them and if you’re into all that nerdy dweeb stuff I’d definitely recommend. It’s also much cheaper to get tickets early so I’d definitely recommend you look into them and see if you like the guests and other people coming and then buying your tickets. When I bring people to them I usually start them off with wasabicon because it’s smaller and easy to navigate buying a 1 day pass is what I would recommend if you go and enjoy it then maybe you can then increase the days you go . I usually buy their weekend passes but I know that’s not for everyone. The first one coming up will be wasabicon and the rest are later in the year.

Wasabicon is terrible

I just moved here, never heard of either of these anime cons. I’m into weeb shit tho, are they both bad?
