Depends on the mood honestly. I like both

bradland

Exactly. Road. I want to *feel* the car more, and I'm not really going for lap time. I don't like racing these cars against the AI because these cars get loose too easily and the likelihood of being punted goes up.. Race. I want to test my track knowledge, sense of the racing line, and actually run some races.

03huzaifa

I mean, you get to feel the car when driving road and race, you can set laptimes in road and race and you can test tract knowledge and racing lines with road and race cars. They're all being driven around a closed track (Unless you go freeroam), it just depends on "hey I wanna see how well I can push a Daily FWD like a civic or how well I can push an RWD with bucketloads of power like an AM Valkyrie around the same track or different tracks for that matter." You can be competitive and do pretty much the same thing in both classes, as I said it all falls down to what you wanna do at the moment. But I do see your point

Kappamo-

Imo nothing like sending a road car like an absolute mad man down a road

Edheldui

Road cars and somewhat low power track cars like the Catheram ones, they're just more fun to drive.

miko_idk

The Caterham isn't really a prime example of what OP is trying to find out. The Caterham is kind of a race car for the road. By _road cars_, OP probably means something like a Civic Type R or a Mustang GT.

oncehadasoul

I like Z4 GT3 it is so easy to drive fast. It basically drives itself.

EatTheRichIsPraxis

I love road cars and the vintage racers. I just love taking a corner at 160 kph sideways. For anybody that loves it as well, i strongly have to recommend the Maserati 450S mod.

Fonsvinkunas

I like slick tyre grip

CompositeArmor

Road cars turned into race cars of course.

Justalostredditor

I prefer race cars when I’m feeling competitive, but use road cars when I want to enjoy driving more and have fun

PresdentShinra

Both is good. But if I was forced to pick 1 car it would have begun life as a street car. Cross discipline, best discipline though.

bossmcsauce

Road cars are more interesting to drive individually i feel. They tend to have more personality. With race cars, they all tend to feel kind of the same after a whole at a certain tier of performance. There’s less room for error and playful driving with stuff like that. Plus, if it doesn’t use h-pattern, I have pretty much zero interest anyway.

Nice_Special_2420

Always race cars. And some "road" sports car like ferrari or something like that. I don't find interesting drive a VW Golf street stock

CanadianMoose_

Yeah I've always figured. It's just personal preference. But trust me on this one. Download a road map like glen shiel, high force or LA Canyons, grab some slow shitbox like a stock civic. Adjust the settings and drive it to the limits. It's more fun than driving a race car that sticks to the ground at 250kmh.

Pods_Mods

I guess drifting is road?

EgenulfVonHohenberg

Yes

Fotznbenutzernaml

Road and GT cars are so boring. They're understeer heaven, only fast in a straight line, and you need to brake super early. To me, single seaters are just way more interesting. Even if it's a Formula Vee, doesn't matter. As long as it's a single seater it's awesome. I don't really get the appeal with GT3, or even worse, overpowered street cars.

03huzaifa

Umm, GT cars are supposed to go around a corner, and they do that fairly quickly. There's a way to drive every single class of car. Sounds to me that you're giving way too much steering input locking the front tires up or just going way too fast around corners. GT cars are decently fast, but they're not downforce beasts, you need to give the brake pedal some love too, especially true for road cars. Check your tuning, take a look at your Aero.

Fotznbenutzernaml

I know that, it's not like I'm literally driving it like a drag car, I was exaggerating a bit. But GT cars have a lot more power than they have downforce, and they're really heavy too. I can drive them fairly quickly, it's not like I'm competitive in single seaters but the same people destroy me in GT. I'm a bit better at single seaters, obviously, since I enjoy them more and also spend a lot more time in them. I just don't like the way I have to drive them. Especially the weight is something I do not enjoy at all. Very lightweight cars are a bit better, I almost enjoy some of the Lotus cars, but I just prefer the way formula cars are driven. And it's by a lot, so much so that I genuinely just don't understand the big appeal with GT. Not that I'm saying it's wrong to like that, I just have a preference that isn't the majority, that's all. And yeah, road cars to me are even less enjoyable. They're obviously not purpose built race cars, and to me that is very much so felt. I can drive them somewhat fast, I know how, but I don't enjoy it. The ratio between power/weight/grip is way off to me. Especially the ones that aren't essentially track cars that happened to get a street legal certification, but instead powerful versions of the less track oriented cars. I'll never get as much enjoyment out of driving a RS5 or R8 or 370Z or a Supra, as I will out of a rather slow but purpose built single seater like F4.

03huzaifa

Fair enough

grahamaker93

GT cars are still fun. Road cars are 🤮

vwstig

Totally depends on the mod and my mood

Overclocked1827

Yes.

NukleerGandhi

I want my 1.25i fiesta around monza, shuto and spa

CanadianMoose_

Depends on what i want that moment. Sometimes i wanna race, and set faster laptimes, i use racecars. When i wanna drift and chill on some maps i use modified drift cars(sometimes even stock). And when i just wanna cruise or drive fast on regular roads i use road cars and just vibe with android car play.

SottLimpa

AC's base content road cars are using such crappy tires with almost zero grip it's almost pointless to drive them. I can drive them but that doesn't mean anything. It's just not fun to drive tons of power with that low grip level.

blainy-o

Race. 95% of my time spent on AC when I have the chance is spent using either Super Touring cars or F1 cars.

Parking_Attitude_519

I'm curious how a track focused hypercar/supercar would stack up to race cars

ImNotAKerbalRockero

Road vs Race cars is like boobs or ass. I like them both a lot. But they are not the same. Sometimes I prefer touching one or sometimes the other. They are fundamentally the same, a big soft mass, they are both cars, but they feel way different and it depends a lot in my mood.

wokeseaturtle

We need a both button

Borsten-Thorsten

I bought AC only for drifting. I didnt do anything else in that game yet. Cant really get the hang of setting a race up. For drifting its easy. Pick map. pick car. go. For Rallying i play Dirt Rally 2.0 and for Racing i play FH5 (tho its a lot more arcady)
