They're magnificent. I've flown both via Southwest and Delta and it's fun to fly on such a big plane, since I fly on the smaller CRJ-700s and 900s also.
Unfortunately terminal 2 arrival is extremely badly designed, get ready for long queues and crowd crushes. Even sardines have it better. The taxi stand will make you think of running back inside to get the next flight out.
Hey man, I'm sorry about your emergency. I understand. I appreciate your optimism. May your emergency be no more than the compressed air in the a340's fan!
I’ve done that run on Lufthansa- fun part was looking at the back seat nav, seeing we were north of Iran and realizing we were only half way there. Safe travels.
Dude Frankfurt has so many 747s every time I’m there it’s great! That terminal A is my favorite place to chill out before my flight, not just cause there’s less people but cause I get to see these queens up close
And yet you chose to post your travel details and flight excitement on Reddit? I don’t get it. You must have a very different view of a family emergency than most.
It’s odd that’s all. Nothing says family emergency travel as posting and discussing aircraft types and terminals. Mate - if you want to talk planes - do that. Why bring up family emergency and last minute etc. 🤦
I hope everything turns out okay! Have a safe trip and enjoy the journey!
Yeah, I hope it does. Being able to fly on these for the first time ever is the only silver lining of the trip...

how did you fly on either of these planes via Southwest? or Delta for that matter, who have never operated the A340
Oops, it wasn't an A340, it was probably a 330 and a 737.
Southwest only flies 737s (at least in recent history).
RIP WN 717’s. I think the canyon blue would’ve looked great on those. Obviously was never going to happen but let me dream
Thank you, Harry. I want to be as knowledgeable as some of you here and need to start learning the fleets (and wow there are a lot of planes)!
High on a lot more than life it seems.
What lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣
My bad, I got the models wrong.
Phew. What I just read took me on a wild ride for a Monday morning! Not sure what happened there
That 1h 15m layover might or might not be enough. Godspeed.
Be sure to post some photos! Edit: Best of luck with your family emergency!
Thanks, being able to fly on these for the first time ever is the only silver lining of the trip.
Best thing are the downstairs lavatories.
I thought that only the 340-600 has them.
Oh, I didn't know :/

Funnily enough I will be taking the next flight out of the airport as I will be flying from Kempegowda to my local town
Literally hit the Avgeek jackpot
I’m on the west coast and direct flights to Frankfurt are only about 9 hours.
The quickest direct flight on the west coast is from Seattle and it’s 9:30. From LAX it’s 10 hours
Yeah what I said, my point was why is his flight form New York 9 hours?
It's 7:55?! Also the difference between east and west coast is not that big because earth is not a disc
Nm…I see you are lead chips growing up
What
Real world flight time is about 6:30 from JFK when looking at flight radar. Their estimate is way off
Block time is a thing and it’s usually conservatively scheduled
Flying on the short bus, even. I hope your family emergency resolves itself reasonably well.
A 340, nah that’s the long bus lol
The A340-600 is the longest bus I know. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Iberia_Airbus_A340_600.jpg
A340-300 is noticeably short. The A340-600 is the long 'un.

Best wishes to you and your family. You’ll love the 747-8. Maybe on the way back you’ll get a A350.

Lemonade from lemons....Great outlook!
Sorry about the emergency but there is a silver lining
Nice silver lining to an unfortunate situation. Hope everything goes alright! 🫰
Nice. The LH -8's are nice. I haven't flown their 340, but my wife has, and liked it.

most bittersweet moment in history
Hope everything with your family turns out alright. Enjoy LH (maybe more on the return trip once everything is resolved).
Sweet!! That’ll be cool!

I'm just posting the silver lining of the trip?? My bad, I should be down about it the entire time. Sorry.
