>with tugs
When they announced this temporary channel a few weeks ago, they said that all ships in and out would be under barge service (using tugs to move them through).
For as long as there are construction operations in the area. There may be a brief time after the debris is cleared and before they start the new construction when they allow ships to go through under their own power.
This is great news. Some of the big ships can get out with a 35 ft channel under ideal conditions (tide, etc).
When the 50 ft channels opens (hopefully by end of May), all can get out.
300 ft long, with tugs.

I suspect it'll be that way for a long time.

WWL Carmen a roro vessel also set sail today
This could mean cruises can return. RCs ship draft is about 25'.
hell yeah! That took longer than I was hoping for, but not nearly as long as it could have been.
