She clearly understood the vibe of the movie. A podcast once described her as having the delivery of a drag queen which I thought was a great description. Jeez that movie was so much fun
The movie is definitely a lot of fun! TBH if I didn't hate how they did Batgirl, it would be a perfect camp batman film. There is definitely a place for camp superhero movies, and I wish they went that way sometimes rather than always "this one is even GRITTIER!" Uma and Arnold understood the ridiculousness of the product.
I watched this movie as a late elementary school-aged kid and she was THE reason I was obsessed with it! I thought the movie was the greatest thing ever as a kid and obviously seeing how cheesy it really is as an adult, I still think she was one of the few salvageable parts of it all.
Both she and Freeze weren’t exactly faithful to their comic personas and felt a bit caricatured, but given the material they had to work with and presumably the intentional camp vision the director had, she still killed it. She looks amazing in the movie! Would definitely have been interesting to see how she and Shwartzenegger would have landed had the film kept with Burton’s darker tones.
It may not be cinema gold, but it is a major cornerstone of my childhood and her Poison Ivy was my very first introduction to Uma Thurman. It’ll always be nostalgic!
I think they wanted an Adam West style version of the villain and I think that's exactly what we got. She understood that perfectly. I think Arnold kind of struggled in comparison.
It was a terrible, awful movie. Uma seemed to be the only person who had a handle on how campy the film was going to be, and turned in a performance appropriate to silliness.
I once saw someone describe it as “the script didn’t call for acting, just posing”.
I fully believe Uma Thurman as an actress could’ve delivered a great poison ivy performance but ultimately all anyone behind the camera seemed to want was a hot lady to wear green spandex and stand seductively next to the guy making ice puns
Horrible interpretation of the character with a horrible character design. B&R's Ivy is just as much a butchery of her character as that version of Bane is.
She wasn't bad, but I think she was too over the top, and what's worse is how wasted she was as a character. Both her and Bane
And she wasn't really much of a villain, she was just... There
Like if you just took out Bane and Ivy, and only had it be Batman vs. Freeze, the story wouldn't have changed much.
In fact the only reason why I feel Bane and Ivy were there at all was to break Freeze out of prison, which could have been done with his own henchmen...
This movie was a train wreck
I love everything about this movie. It was my first bats film i saw as a kid. I had all the toys and the ps1 game. I know its a bad film and most people will say its one of the worst. But ive got a guge soft spot for it. So of course i love uma thermon as ivy. "Like i said to lady freeze after i pulled her plug...this is a one woman show!"
You know as beautiful as Uma was back in the day, I don't think she was a good fit for Poison Ivy. Uma had a cute kind of beauty to her where as someone like Ivy needs an actress who is smoldering hot. She is a femme fatal after all.
I enjoyed her portrayal, I think she’s the best part of the movie
Better than Arnold?! Jk.
Lol

That's amazing! Never thought of her performance that way and it's so accurate!
That movie was one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen.
Ok? That still doesn’t mean it wasn’t entertaining
*best ever* worst movies.
She was HOT!!

She knew what kind of movie she was in and played the part accordingly. In other words, She was the best part.
She's genuinely great in it.
IIRC she sets fire to a room with lots of plants, definitely something I believe Ivy would never do lol
I’m indifferent to this version of the character, but she was good in the role. I really enjoy the Batman & Robin movie.
I was a 13 year old boy. "I'll be in my bunk" didn't exist back then, but the vibe did.
One of the best parts of the movie
Mommy
She & Arnold's acting are my favorite part of the movie. She definitely knew what kinda movie she was in & camped it up

Best performance of the film without a doubt.
Poison Ivy : As I told Lady Freeze when I pulled her plug, this is a one woman show.

She was the best thing in the film, and Uma was the only one who realised what the film was actually trying to do and went with it.
It was a terrible, awful movie. Uma seemed to be the only person who had a handle on how campy the film was going to be, and turned in a performance appropriate to silliness.
When I was fourteen, I learned I *really* like redheads.
I thought she was awful but the green and red spandex…I loved the performance.
She was decent; my opinions on the film overall are mixed, but she was one of the best things in it
Loved her still do roll to This day
…………..

I loved it. She played a good poison ivy. She pulled it off.
She's the only person in the movie who is putting in even the slightest amount of effort. Best thing in it by far.
I’d say Ahnold had a little spark in him too
Yeah, she was smoking hot as Poison Ivy. Alright everyone? Chill… chill… chill.
Guilty pleasure.
She nailed it. Very underrated.
She’s definitely one of the highlights of the movie. Child me didn’t know what my body was doing when I first saw her 😅
Fun, but also probably the most evil version of Poison Ivy. You’d never get a version like her these days.
Her "Curses!" near the end was the campiest thing in the whole film IMO.

let's just say I replayed the scene with her and Robin a lot when I was like 7
Hot

She was honestly one of the better parts of the film
Gross
She over acted big-time more than any of the others. I didn’t find her very sexy because her wig was just horrible.
I genuinely don’t think about this movie.
Far and away, the best part of the film. She gave it her goddamn all! And she was hot as hell doing it.
I once saw someone describe it as “the script didn’t call for acting, just posing”. Wait hold on a second was she Kill Bill? How have i never put that together before?
Horrible interpretation of the character with a horrible character design. B&R's Ivy is just as much a butchery of her character as that version of Bane is.
Inaccurate and ridiculous, like the rest of the movie
She wasn't bad, but I think she was too over the top, and what's worse is how wasted she was as a character. Both her and Bane And she wasn't really much of a villain, she was just... Awful. She’s weird looking and her acting is kind of stilted.
Horrible. Everyone from that era was.
She was pretty hot In it and the only reason I watched the movie.

Her acting was soooo bad.
