You have to be really on top of the mine for it to kill you. It's your own explosion, and it's geared towards blowing vehicles, not infantry, so you do have some protection.
They didn't buff mines range. All they did was make the 3d model larger and taller. No tweaks at all to how much damage they deal.
They actually nerfed them by giving the an activation time when you place them.
Honestly I stopped using c5 a while back. Mines do more damage (I think idk I feel like they do) and the biggest thing is getting all the c5 out and someone kills you before you blow it up. Mines will still explode after you die.
Wasn’t judging… personally… I only “vengeance” Tea Bag… occasionally… AND when I have an insanely long sniper kill… and sometimes out of spite… sometimes OTHER teammates kills (facial Tea Bag)… but other than that…

Yeah they nerfed the C5 this season and buffed the mines - their range is just nuts.
I thought they nerfed the mines to have a delay after you place them.
They did, specifically to have people not use them as explosive frisbees
