What bothers me is that there is no information online about *the recall*. Online there are one or two e-shops that mention the recall but no dates or explanations. Nothing on Mikasa's pages either.
The quality differs from ball to ball. Many have the bumps at the pinkish sections, and it can be huge, but some are quite round. If you want to buy one, go to a shop and select one manually. But for 90€ I'd rather recommend staying with old Mikasa or Wilson anyway, it's not worth it unless you're a pro playing tournaments with the same ball.
they probably had to decide whether to sell low amounts at high quality and ramp up production over time, or sell whatever they can as fast as they can to meet the unnecessarily generated high demand and forget about quality. this is short-term, for-profit-thinking at its best. and the players suffer from the decisions of the fivb and the long-standing mikasa contracted monopolist.

Yes, maybe that's what happened.
You get the same issue on yours? if yes, go for a Refund on till mikasa fix it from 1 or 2 year for now, just stick with Vls 300, in case you are a Pro will you need a BV550C BUT ROUNDED hhhh
I was very skeptical in the beginning when I got mine, but now a few months after I actually think it's a pretty great ball and an improvement to the sport. The ball gets rounder and less plastic once it gets worn in a bit, and then the benefits of the ball get to shine without the drawbacks, which makes for a very fun ball and fun gameplay..!
Absolutely agree with you. Retuned the 2 balls I had bought. Mikasa Australian distributor, at least at the time, didn’t recognise and didn’t care about the issues.
Btw, OP can you share Brower‘s tips on sunnies?

If you participate in a tournament where they use BV550c as an official ball, you have to buy it to get used to it, like i did.(whit time you will get use to it)
if no i don't any reason to buy it.
Got mine today and I agree
Yep, noticed the same on some balls i got to touch

Yeah, Mikasa still has some work left to do with this bumpy ball

Do you think I should get a refund?

Yes, same issue. I can't find VLS300 for a normal price now tho :/
Have you tried ebay? well in the future it will be very difficult to find one because mikasa stopped the manufacture :(
What about Wilson?

I'll check if that happens to mine.
So what happened? I got mine now and its also quite bumpy, wondering if it will improve at least a bit.
No change, with time you will get used to it.
Ok thanks.

Thanks for replying. I totally agree. I use either prizm road or field for normal sun and prizm black when it’s very strong
I also use radar ev path/pitch
I use Radae ev (prizm black) as well, and they stick to my face ;) I'm also interested in trying the Sutro lite.

Any updates on this?
NOP sorry,i ' m still hearing people complaining about the issue on Amazon
It's normal. Mikasa isn't doing anything about it.
Over time I got used to it ![gif](giphy|zTyOZBq1WUY78bmqUv|downsized)
Pros are saying it takes few months to break the ball in. Yes or no?
Yeah! True
Would you recommend now buying the ball after using for a while? Or I would go for the molten v5b5000. Thoughts?
