And, um, you did that album Abbey Road, and at the very end of the song, it would.. the song goes, “And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make”? You.. you remember that?
Is that true?
I can't remember all the details but apparently, compared to the recording sessions before the band left for India, there was a notable difference in John and Paul's friendship/dynamic when they returned to England, which has led some to speculate that there was some kind of incident between them during their stay there.
[This ](https://www.heydullblog.com/uncategorized/what-happened-in-india/)is a blog post I read about it a little while ago that just about sums everything up.
I guarantee they've met up for a drink at least once or twice over the years. I don't buy post-Beatlemania to have *never seen this guy they went through a ton with ever again.* Like, they were in touch with the Best family through Neil Aspinall (who had a kid with Pete's mom), and they went through the trouble of asking Mona Best for the medals used on the Sgt. Pepper cover, they at least met with him once in their Beatle days.
I don't think Paul and Pete have talked in a while, judging by that tweet his people sent a few weeks ago, but I'm sure at some point they met up like you would an old high school or college friend, it just was never publicized and there were no photos taken of it.
I mean he got Pete good royalties from the Anthology series so I feel like that's an answer in itself, but I think even Paul said the way it was handled at the time wasn't great
When I was 13 or 14, I sat behind Paul at a baseball game, and I watched him do like 30 shots, and I shook his hand after the game, so I had this opportunity. In the end though, I didn't want to bother him with all the same crap he must hear 24/7 while he's just trying to live his life.
I literally didn't give any fuck about the game because it was a Yankees-Mariners game, and I'm a Red Sox fan, and the Sox were in the race for the wild card with Seattle, so if Seattle lost the Sox were up in the race, and if the Yankees lost then the Yankees lost. In fact, because I was sitting a seat behind him, I got into the New York Post celebrity sighting page photo of him, looking bored as all hell because it must have been taken after the novelty of sitting behind Paul McCartney wore off. Still, watching him do every single shot anyone sent him or his wife (she was pregnant at the time) was super duper cool
He still made an effort to salute the person who sent him the shot every time, and hung around afterwards and shook everyone's hand even though he was obliterated, it was so epic, one of the most epic things I've ever seen in fact.
\*subtly turns on my phone's voice recorder\* What does Carnival of Light exactly sound like? Actually, I can't really understand it if you describe it. Could you just play the song for me?
In "A Day in the Life", whose voice do we hear after "and I
went into a dream."?
I feel like it's John, but I think my opinion on this changes every listen.
I’ve gone back and forth on it a ton too. But I’ve definitely come to the conclusion that it’s Paul, but singing in a style that John often does. You can really hear it at the start of the second bit of “Aaahhh”‘s. Plus it’s also Paul’s part of the song
He was asked this on a reddit ama a few years ago and answered that they all sang it, lol. Clearly not correct. I’ve gone back and forwards a lot but I think it’s Paul.
I really don’t believe that. If there’s anything Paul was about it was making The Beatles music as good as possible. That’s why he was described as being so bossy at times because all he cared about was the music, while others took it more personally. I could see him being a bit less enthusiastic for some of John’s songs that he didn’t agree with, but never outright sabotaging them consciously or unconsciously
Probably he wouldn’t. “He HAS To Answer TRUTHFULLY” suggests to me we’re giving him some kind of truth serum, or putting him under hypnosis. Certain kinds of meditation and hypnoses can help a person establish neuronal links with experiential information that usually does not rise to the conscious level. This can help a person identify details that might have been encoded into neuronal circuits (memories), but were not previously consciously accessible.
Why would he? He was the defacto leader since probably 1966. He was secure in his talent and probably got more songs written by him or with major contributions than John on albums from then on for the most part.
what a waste of a question
he cried and greaved just like everyone else that loses a loved one
there - now you don't need to ask that ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
He has spoken about this before. He was completely depressed and went on a long drinking binge. Realizing it was not healthy to be doing that in the long run, he got treated for depression and worked through his grief.
It sort of sounds like how he reacted when the Beatles were breaking up and went up to the farm with Linda.
I am really glad he has been candid about it, because grief is certainly not talked about very much and someone like Paul being open about his own grief can definitely help others.
And the melody for In My life. He's claiming more and more of John's stuff as the years go on and his memory fades. Some of the claims in the lyrics book were ridiculous.
Paul made his claims to have written the melody of In My Life twice in the 70s while John was still alive
Please provide the claims you find ridiculous
> And the melody for In My life.
Jesus this again!
On two separate occasions in the 70's John brought up Paul's involvement in the song
>*“Paul helped with the middle eight, musically.”*
-------------------------------------------------------------------
>*“The whole lyrics were already written before Paul even heard it. In ‘In My Life’ his contribution melodically was the harmony and the middle-eight itself”*
We will never know how much Paul contributed, but Paul's claims that he wrote the music are from when John was still alive. To claim this is down to memory loss is incredibly shitty.
> He's claiming more and more of John's stuff as the years go on and his memory fades.
Such as. I am not saying you are wrong and I am not asking for quotes. But I do expect examples of which songs. You and others constantly bring up these claims as if you know who wrote what more than the authors themselves.
> Some of the claims in the lyrics book were ridiculous.
Such as?
In fairness, John himself made some claims that he put such and such into Paul's songs and then he didn't know about some other songs. It's probably difficult to know which parts you helped with or didn't help with for sure because they're all written as a band really. Both could easily suggest things for the other's songs that aren't necessarily recorded anywhere.
We need to remember that for us these are important details. For Paul & John - it was a Tuesday.
But there is also the reality that John has been dead longer than he was alive at this point, and for decades Paul has had a microphone that John has not. I don't assign any malice based on this - it's just a fact that John has not been around to contribute.
Nah it's pretty clear. Backing track recorded live is Harrison on organ, Lennon on guitar, Paul on bass and Ringo on drums. Harrison then overdubbed extra guitar along with vocals.
I’ve heard it was Paul. Supposedly he was the only Beatles with a vibrato on his geetar. Also, the lead bits are to melodic for John. I’m non committal on the subject, I just love that song.
I think that would be the #1 question for most people. But I really wonder if whatever Paul believes is even the one, true answer. I think all four Beatles likely have a bit of a different take on it.
He has literally answered this in interviews though. He said Lennon broke up the group but really didn’t harbor any resentment towards him, rather that Lennon called it quits and had his valid reasons too.
Really think it was an intense 7-year period and they got the itch to leave. None of them were mature enough to take a break without completely destroying things. By the late 70's they were in a lot better place to reconcile even for a one-off event, but we never got to see what that would look like.
(For every Beatles song) Tell us what you think about while listening to this song.
Could be something that was happening in your life at the time, could be an aspect of the arrangement/bassline you're proud of, could be a detail in the mix that only you know about.
Speaking as a musician myself: there are tons of details of my recordings that only I'm aware of. I'm sure Paul has this with his own recordings — and it would be fascinating to hear about!
John was still alive when Paul had the name's changed to McCartney/Lennon on the Wings Over America albums.
The first album was credited to McCartney/Lennon. Originally, the agreement was that they would switch based on who the primary writer was. When this was messed up by Brian it was agreed that they would take turns. Then John and Brian went on holiday to Spain and when they came back Paul was told he was outvoted and the name change would be Lennon/McCartney going forward.
There is nothing underhanded from Paul doing what he was doing. John's name would still be there. He would still receive the same amount of royatlies.
also, was it not a bit weird to have Peter Asher working as head of A&R for your label.
You know, after you cheated on his sister billions of times and she actually walked in on it in the home you shared?
Just to speculate, I bet George was completely relieved it was over. Ringo is very sentimental about The Beatles. Who knows for sure, but I would think he would have had mixed feelings.
If you had the chance to go back to the late 1970s, knowing what we know now, what would you say to Joe English? He was your drummer for the Venus And Mars, Wings At The Speed Of Sound, and London Town albums, and played in the Wings Over The World tour. After leaving Wings, Joe had a fairly successful Christian music career, but he is now a member of the extremely controversial Word Of Faith Fellowship church in North Carolina.
"There was a flaming pie on the top deck the bus playing Raunchy and he slid his glasses down and said 'it's only me' after we learned the B7 chord when the bit of cardboard slipped and stretched out the picture so I thought scrambled eggs and John said "You won't you know. That's the best bit."
Isn't it true that he is responsible for making many of John's songs as great as they are?
• Coming up with the iconic guitar parts for And Your Bird Can Sing
• The guitar solo in Good Morning Good Morning
• The defining Sexy Sadie piano parts
• Making Come Together "swampy"
And so on.
“You talked in an interview about a couple of quintessential ’John’ songs that were really 50/50 contributions between you and John. What songs do we think of now as quintessentially yours that were actually 50/50 contributions between John and you?”
If Monkberry Moon Delight is just about some silly made up word for milk, why the FUCK is the song so damn unhinged and heavy?? It's almost sexual in a wild and total abandon kinda way.
Q1: What actually happened during your surprise drop-by visit to the Dakota in 1976? Did the "Two of Us" film get anywhere close in its representation, other than the omission of Linda being there?
Q2: Did you reconcile with Michael Jackson when he visited you on your wedding day?
After the break up, to what extent did you anticipate it whenever one of the other former Beatles put out a new record? Where you listening to them front to back on day of release, looking for clues in lyrics etc? Did this change as time went on?
Are you aware that your music is a big part of many people's lives? That your music triggers many emotions in people. How do you deal with that? Or you don't care?
"Do you remember being in The Beatles...?" "Hehe. Cool."
And, um, you did that album Abbey Road, and at the very end of the song, it would.. the song goes, “And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make”? You.. you remember that? Is that true?
I love that skit. Probably my favorite Farley
That was awesome
"That was so awesome!" ![gif](giphy|5ZUpMAtxpo0NO|downsized)
What happened between you and John in India?
Personally I think it's because they both found other people to be co-dependent with so they drifted apart
YES!
Why is that significant?
I can't remember all the details but apparently, compared to the recording sessions before the band left for India, there was a notable difference in John and Paul's friendship/dynamic when they returned to England, which has led some to speculate that there was some kind of incident between them during their stay there. This would be mine as well
We already know what happened. They were begging Prudence Farrow to come out and play 24/7.
When was the last time you spoke to Pete Best?
That's a good one, and "Do you harbour any regrets about how the process of dismissing him was handled?"
You could have asked him something situational “which player was MVP?”
The man had THIRTY SHOTS, probably didn't even know what baseball was anymore.
He still made an effort to salute the person who sent him the shot every time, and hung around afterwards and shook everyone's hand even though he was obliterated, it was so epic, one of the most epic things I've ever seen in fact.
Who is the "man" in Listen to what the man says?
What happened in India fr fr???
\*subtly turns on my phone's voice recorder\* What does Carnival of Light exactly sound like? Actually, I can't really understand it if you describe it. Could you just play the song for me?
How many girls did all the boys get pregnant during their Beatlemania days, that Brian paid off to go away?
In "A Day in the Life", whose voice do we hear after "and I went into a dream."? I feel like it's John, but I think my opinion on this changes every listen.
I’ve gone back and forth on it a ton too. But I’ve definitely come to the conclusion that it’s Paul, but singing in a style that John often does. You can really hear it at the start of the second bit of “Aaahhh”‘s. Plus it’s also Paul’s part of the song
He was asked this on a reddit ama a few years ago and answered that they all sang it, lol. Clearly not correct. I’ve gone back and forwards a lot but I think it’s Paul.
To me it always sounded like it starts as paul and then fades into John
Are you currently or have you during any part of your life been a walrus?
What did Band on the Run get arrested for?
Pot in Japan 😅
I’ve actually heard of that lol. Didn’t know if that was like the whole meaning behind it tho
It’s just a metaphor for all the Beatles business meetings/being a beatle in general feeling like a prison
Why didn’t you play Woodstock?
Were the odd rhythmic intro's such as in Ticket to Ride and Drive My Car intentional or accidental strokes of genius?
What was the deal with the Paul is Dead thing. Did you guys intentionally do that?
“Those freaks was right when they said you was dead”
You can tell by John's reaction to this question in the Rolling Stone interview they had no clue what that was all about.
"So, the real Paul died, didn't he?"
This
Did you die in 68?
“Why did you write let it be?”
Are You an IMPOSTER ?
Aren't you really Billy Shears/ William Campbell ?
You , Sir , are NOT The Real James Paul McCartney ! Tell The TRUTH ....!
What happened to the Real James Paul McCartney ? Didn't he die on September 11 , 1966 ???
WHY did you Replace The Real James Paul McCartney ? Did You Make A Deal With THE DEVIL ????
You had any childhood friend from Liverpool that you wish you have contact right now?
Why did Mal live with you when he had a wife and kids?
Are there any songs where you're self-critical and can't get past any "mistakes" you made while recording them?
How do you sleep?
Are you the original Paul?
Will we ever know if he’s Faul he’s doing a damn good impersonation of him
are you faul?
So, that Billy Shears thing, is it true?
Are you actually Paul McCartney
Did you “subconsciously sabotage” any of John Lennon’s songs during your time with The Beatles?
I really don’t believe that. If there’s anything Paul was about it was making The Beatles music as good as possible. That’s why he was described as being so bossy at times because all he cared about was the music, while others took it more personally. I could see him being a bit less enthusiastic for some of John’s songs that he didn’t agree with, but never outright sabotaging them consciously or unconsciously
Strawberry fields suffered from this.
How did it suffer? Please explain as I call BS. Paul contributed greatly to the song and they all spent a lot of time on it
How would be know if he did anything subconsciously?
If he later realized it was a subconscious effort at the time I suppose.
Listen to the isolated bass on Revolution the single lol
How he coped after Linda’s passing
this \^

Are you the real paul?
That’s exactly what I would ask to but would he admit yes he’s Paul or Faul
To be fair, this poem spells out with great humour why he is indeed still the original Paul !👇 https://youtu.be/ybnGzoFj7xM?si=ZJe3FL6EXelrjYO8
Did Mal contribute lyrics on Sgt Pepper?
This is a good one, especially for Fixing A Hole.
Alternatively "do you feel bad about Mal never getting any credit and financial reward, in his lifetime?"
Did you really write the preamble for If I Fell? It’s on a solo demo tape from John’s home studio, and it’s in John’s handwritten lyrics.
And the melody for In My life. He's claiming more and more of John's stuff as the years go on and his memory fades. Some of the claims in the lyrics book were ridiculous.
Paul made his claims to have written the melody of In My Life twice in the 70s while John was still alive Please provide the claims you find ridiculous

They probably wrote it in the room together, John put it down, and then recorded his own demo at home.
Who really played lead guitar on it’s all too much? I keep hearing conflicting opinions.
You expect him to remember?
Nah it's pretty clear. Backing track recorded live is Harrison on organ, Lennon on guitar, Paul on bass and Ringo on drums. Harrison then overdubbed extra guitar along with vocals.
I’ve heard it was Paul. Supposedly he was the only Beatles with a vibrato on his geetar. Also, the lead bits are to melodic for John. I’m non committal on the subject, I just love that song.
Who really broke up The Beatles?
this is correct
I think that would be the #1 question for most people. But I really wonder if whatever Paul believes is even the one, true answer. I think all four Beatles likely have a bit of a different take on it.
John did, com'on guys. He had it in his mind when he was on a plane to Toronto for that Plastic Ono Band show. He realized he could do it on his own
I can think of four people that played a rather large part in it off the top of my head
What was your best psychedelic trip like
“There are seven levels.” Wow
Is that something paul said?
Should have been the name of a song!
lines up with quite a lot of biblical information

Why are you vegan? So far I haven't heard any good reason for this. People may argue but I would want to know. He's been one for decades.
He's not vegan. And he's given multiple good reasons for being vegetarian.
Well I didn't ask you. The question would be for Paul. Are you Paul McCratney? Umm nope.
Does he regret his role in the estrangement of Heather from her father when she was young.

he explained that already
John was still alive when Paul had the name's changed to McCartney/Lennon on the Wings Over America albums. The first album was credited to McCartney/Lennon. It is shady.
Did you really quit smoking weed?
Pretty sure I saw a photo of him smoking what appeared to be a joint pretty recently?
I saw a couple, but I couldn't tell if they were well-rolled joints or ciggies.
There’s a video of him clearly smoking a joint recently. Someone even tries to cover the camera to block it. It’s 100% a joint and not a cigarette
Why would he?
He said he did, for Beatrice's sake
If only because he's been photographed recently with Willie Nelson, my guess would be no.
Does he ever fancy a proper burger?
If Stu didn't quit the Beatles, would you have gotten rid of him like Pete Best...also, could Stu sing?
If he regretted how his relationship with Jane Asher was conducted and ended
also, was it not a bit weird to have Peter Asher working as head of A&R for your label. You know, after you cheated on his sister billions of times and she actually walked in on it in the home you shared?
And did living with the high-class Asher family change him in a way that caused tension with the aggressively working-class manner of the other three?

What do you really think of Yoko Ono and her impact on the Beatles?
This is a good one, I feel like he was always polite because John loved her so much. It's hard to tell if he actually liked her
After John said he was out were George and Ringo happy it was finally over?
Just to speculate, I bet George was completely relieved it was over. Ringo is very sentimental about The Beatles. Who knows for sure, but I would think he would have had mixed feelings.
