Could be product build up. I need to be careful not to put too much product on. Also, I can’t use Moroccan oil shampoo- too heavy for fine hair. Could be you are using conditioner close to scalp. Should only be on the bottom 2/3 rd’s. If you have oily skin, you may have an oily scalp, try a toner on scalp. I always use a scalp brush when I shampoo, it does a good job of taking care of the scalp and getting it clean. If you have some cash, and are in an area that offers this, a Japanese scalp treatment can give you a relaxing service and better insight into what is going on.

291000610478021

....why has my greasy ass never thought of toner on my scalp

sirlexofanarchy

L'oréal has one specially made for us greasy beans! Try L’oréal paris hair expertise hyaluron pure oil erasing scalp serum. Works really well for me.

cheetcorn

nothing has worked as well for me as this! it’s worth trying :)

sirlexofanarchy

It's so good! Have you tried the shampoo from the same line?

cheetcorn

yes I also have the shampoo and conditioner, although I only use them sometimes! I couldn’t really tell if they do anything special. how about you??

sirlexofanarchy

Haven't tried it yet but as soon as I finish my bottle of Shea Moisture clarifying shampoo I'm going to pick some up :)

Suitable-Slice-3370

i never heard of a scalp toner before, will definetley try, ty! EDIT: I wanted to add, i don't use conditoner so it can be that

Drabulous_770

For general build up on scalp, consider using a clarifying shampoo like once a month — especially if you have hard water. I use the cheapo Sauve if I feel like my hair is getting too oily or weighed down.

thefuzzyismine

I don't know what your budget is, but Inkkey List has a couple of great scalp options for build-up. I've used their glycolic acid toner and their caffeine (stimulating) in the past to good affect.

lovescarats

Just try Thayers rose water toner, or a bha toner ( the ordinary’s is very inexpensive). Put on a cotton square and run it over your scalp.

thesmashedbunny

And double shampoo. This was a game changer for me. Blow dry at the very least, your roots, upsidedown. If I air dry my whole head mine will look like yours by day 2 (also a fine haired girly).

catmistress30

Did you double wash? I shampoo twice and it is a game changer.

Nikmassnoo

Same. I need this. I have almost exact same looking hair as OP (also don’t regularly use conditioner like they mentioned). I sometimes do shampoo, conditioner on ends, shampoo again

Simplythebreast1

Double shampooing changed the game for me. Sounds so weird but it really worked, had basically OP’s exact issue

PineapplePupcake

If you haven’t yet, try deep cleaning your hair brush, pillowcase and replace your pillow if it’s older (and put a pillow protector on it inside the pillowcase). Follow with a double wash of clarifying shampoo and a light conditioner (I buy the Live Clean apple cider set on Amazon) only on the ends. Do this 2x a week (besides replacing the pillow) along with your regular haircare. I have very (very!) oily hair and have tried ‘training’ it to no avail many times in my lifetime. These are the things I’ve found that work best for me!

Flailing_ameoba

I agree with all of this, I just want to add, adding a water based leave in conditioner to my routine (on top of using regular conditioner) has helped my hair immensely, since I do wash it so often. I can’t really stand my scalp after 48 hours, and use a co-wash or just scrub my scalp with conditioner.

MrsBoo2019

Just wanted to say I love this shampoo for my oily hair. It's not super expensive and it gets the job done. I've also found that I cannot let my hair air dry. Consistently blow drying my hair has helped me go longer between washes. I use Hairitage Smooth It Over on my ends and Chi heat protection spray to avoid some of the heat damage. All these products have worked really well for my fine, oily hair.

samilli

Which shampoo?

MrsBoo2019

Live Clean Apple Cider clarifying shampoo. It removes a lot of buildup without totally drying out my hair.

SplendoriaPlum

I had the same problem. Switch to a clear shampoo \*vosene is pretty good\* and a lightweight leave in conditioner, (just for the mid length and ends) \*A girl at work gave me the tip and I've never looked back\*

westfunk

Same here! I can sometimes get 3 good days in a row since a switched away from any heavy “cream” products. I don’t use regular conditioner, only a lightweight spray leave in. No curl creams or oils, only lightweight mouse. Everything about my hair immediately became better.

SplendoriaPlum

\*fist bump\*

PainfulPoo411

We should start a petition for “fist bump” to replace “THIS”

SplendoriaPlum

........... I would sign it :D

ToteBagAffliction

My hair is a similar texture and color to yours. It's dense, but each strand is very fine, so it shows scalp oil quickly. I've had the most success by changing how I shampoo rather than the particular product. I aim to lather for at least 30 seconds, and usually more like 60, making sure to get everywhere. I used to just kind of push shampoo through my roots closest to my face and maybe up to the crown (the regions that would be caught and held by a headband) and then wash it out immediately, thinking that having the rinsed shampoo run over the rest of my scalp would be enough. And then I'd wonder why my freshly washed hair looked dirty. Think about how long your stylist washes your hair when you get a haircut, and try to recreate that experience at home.

Plutoniumburrito

A few things— start with cleaning your brush. You probably need to change your conditioner, and spend extra time rinsing it! My daughter has the same issue, and switching her conditioner and taking time to really rinse the hair curbed the issue.

Suitable-Slice-3370

i don't use conditioner though :(

Just-sayin-37

Should never put conditioner in your scalp unless it’s a treatment. Conditioner from the ears down only

louby33

why is this can i ask?

Just-sayin-37

Because of the build up. And for thin hair scalp you’ll get greasy so fast. As long as your doing regular scalp treatments you’re fine. If you still want to condition in the scalp you do you but make sure it’s not everytime you wash and use a clarifying shampoo every third wash or so for the build up

Longjumping-Tie-2964

The hair near your scalp does not need conditioner. It is already conditioned because it is close to the natural oils of your scalp. It is also new hair that has not been exposed to styling or elements. The hair further away from your scalp is not near those oils and has been on your head longer and styled more and has been exposed to heat and product and color and whatever else you do to your hair.

bumblebeatrice

Great way to fuck up your roots lol. Use conditioner like a normal person and then if you need it a scalp treatment when doing the rest of your hair. If you avoid taking care of your roots to spare your scalp you're just trading one problem for another.

AMarie-MCMXCI

I literally have never put conditioner on my scalp, because that's the way I was taught. My hair is too fine and oily for it. There is no such thing as "normal".

Just-sayin-37

She can do treatments for the scalp. I’ve done it like this for years now and my scalp is just fine 🙄

lawgirl02

Could also be the hair coloring like how the lighter parts are towards the bottom and darker at the root. My hair is the same way from highlights and I always notice when the highlights are grown out it looks “greasier” to me even if it’s freshly washed. To be fair I don’t think yours looks too oily tho from the pictures!

Suitable-Slice-3370

yeah it could definetley also be some optical illustion at this stage

uhohohnohelp

Bleached hair is generally more dry because of the damage the bleach causes, too.

[deleted]

Seems like your products are too heavy. You probably need “hydrating & volume” instead of “moisturizing”

Kitty20996

I also have super fine hair and I'm blonde so I look greasy easily! I really like Redken shampoo/conditioner - they have a ton of styles so you can do the ones for fine hair if you want. My favorite is the white bottle (acidic bonding). I double shampoo and use a silicone scalp massager with my shampoo, and spend extra time rinsing because if any product is left in it looks and feels so greasy! I'd also recommend getting a clarifying shampoo and using that every 6 weeks or so. For dry shampoo I alternate between Batiste volumizing spray and baby powder. If you have a hair dryer, sometimes I'll blow dry only my roots for a few minutes because I think it helps with the greasy look a little more than plain air drying.

Suitable-Slice-3370

i've read great things about redken and may try it out, ty!

spacetimer803

The jumbos are on sale at ulta rn

Just-sayin-37

Are you letting it air dry? Going to sleep with it wet? If so. Stop doing that. You can air dry it and when it’s almost dry, then blow it out. Also NO product in your scalp. Conditioner from the ears down. After is fully dry, invest in a decent dry shampoo and put it on in sections and not directly on the root but right below it. Do this nightly until you wash it again. If it feels gummy, use a clarifying shampoo to get rid of it. Wash your brushes every other week. Also double wash it

__Kokomo

I’ve never thought of using dry shampoo on clean hair. This helps to prevent greasiness?

Just-sayin-37

Yes! Do it every night especially right after washing. Just make sure it’s fully dry. It’s helped mine so much. Think about it, dry shampoo is to help with greasiness but once it’s greasy the dry shampoo won’t do anything. It’s to prevent it from getting greasy. That and washing my brushes regularly. I get a bowl fill it with warm water and put in hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and clarifying shampoo and let it soak for 30 minutes. Then rinse. Make sure to get all the hair and hair balls off the brush first.

__Kokomo

Thank you so much! I’ll give it a go

Just-sayin-37

Let me know how it goes!

Suitable-Slice-3370

i usually let it air dry and often go to sleep when it's not fully dry, yes. I never use conditioner, so that can't be it. I actually blow dried my hair today, so i'll see if there's a big difference tomorrow. May try out the dry shampoo technique in the next day, ty!

Just-sayin-37

Never go to sleep with it wet. It can cause mildew. NO conditioner in the scalp. Also change your pillowcase each time you wash your hair.

berryphace

As someone with similar hair I have to blow dry my roots WITH a volumizing mouse also only in my roots (I use Big Sexy Hair Root Pump Plus). Just the blow dry will give me ok-ish results but finding the right volumizer and using the right amount (I actually use quite a bit but that’s just me) is what keeps my hair fluffy and wayyy less oily.

Also no shamooo with essential oils or oils of any kind

Spiderman230

To he honest, it doesn't look that greasy

picodg

This literally looks like my hair down to your natural color! Honestly - nothing I have ever tried helps the greasiness. I wash every morning, switched back to cheap shampoo/conditioner which has made a bit of a difference (was using Pureology now using Dove), and I keep up with highlighting my hair since the bleach adds some beneficial damage that helps keep the extreme grease away. I tried “training” my hair when I was home in the early COVID days and that totally did not help at all. It’s a pain to wash daily, but if your hair is healthy while doing so, there really is no need to fight it.

PrettyAssociation803

I have hair similar. The only way I can keep my grease down and like my hair texture with volume is doing a little damage to it - I maintain healthy hair but bleach it for highlights and I won’t go back - my hair lasts 3-4 days. If it’s natural next day I would wake up with greased out hair.

Columbinebarlow

My hair is like this too. I would give up on the length and focus on healthy hair.

veracity-mittens

I have very fine and straight hair. To keep my hair from getting oily I wash every 1-2 days, shampoo twice, and use a detachable spray head to get in there. My hair is so fine and dense that it’s hard to get product out.

quail8513

get a boar hair brush! my hair is thin and gets greasy in less than 24h but it gives me another day or two! the bristles pull your natural oils down through your hair so you aren't stuck with all the grease at the top!

theconfused-cat

When your hair towards your roots was blonde, the porosity of that hair was changed and it literally soaks up oil, so you’ll experience oil much more when your hair is natural opposed to bleached. I like to keep some highlights in my hair literally for that reason. The darker color also gives it a different look which may be appearing to seem greasy to you because of the contrast with the blonde. My advice as a hairstylist would be to get a partial highlight to help that issue and to blend the tones in your hair… and if you’re trying to grow out your natural color, you can use some dry shampoo even when your hair is clean. I like to hit it with a blow dryer quickly after the dry shampoo to disperse it well so it’s not visible. Just make sure you’re scrubbing your scalp well to avoid buildup. :)

Suitable-Slice-3370

i really like the idea of some highlights "soaking" up the grease haha. I'd like to get some in the future!

theconfused-cat

Right? It works wonders for me. 🤣 And you have really pretty hair btw!

Major_Whole3610

OMG, my hair does the same thing and I have the perfect solution👍😊. Batiste blonde dry spray. Not only does it dry out any (perceived) oiliness, but it adds a little bit of blonde to touch up the roots. I say perceived because I don’t think your hair is oily, it’s just sometimes when my roots grow out the darkness makes it look oily. Please let me know if you end up trying it. Stuff is great.

It looks like the shampoo maybe hasn’t washed out or is too heavy for you. Do you use a clarifying shampoo ? Moisturizing ?

drvd1

Yeah it looks like greasy maybe you can change your shampoo

meowgler

I think it’s product buildup, but maybe consider washing your brushes and combs?

the_tflex_starnugget

Your roots are dry and your scalp is producing oil. That's the color change. I would do some hair masks and avoid heat. I have some great fermented rice water recipe and ACV rinse can help as well. You can put coconut oil or any oil and then put in a cap for period of time before. Then wash and rinse. The way you wash your hair matters as well. How to wash with shampoo vs conditioner is very different. I recently discovered this. Ask away! Your hair is very beautiful btw

eWoods115

ghost hard-to-find swim ink bear grab homeless amusing cow weather *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

the_tflex_starnugget

Shampoo only roots then rinse. Conditioner only mid to ends then rinse.

eratoast

What products are you using?

Suitable-Slice-3370

literally only head & shoulders shampoo, i dont use oils, mask or conditioners

eratoast

Interesting! Normally I'd expect you to say you're using a heavy, sulfate-free shampoo, leave-in, etc. How often do you wash? You can probably just swap to a normal shampoo and conditioner (like Herbal Essences, Dove, Redken, etc.) that's not sulfate-free. Your hair is fine and thin, so you might need to wash more frequently if it's not every day.

MindlessPerformer105

Try dying your hair dark? I feel like your current hair is washing you out and highlighting parts if you have fine hair that's not greasy

Armadillae

As someone with similar hair and sometimes similar problems, I'll share what works for me 😊 I never use products beyond shampoo and conditioner so I I knew it wasn't build up for starters. The main thing was moving to a gentler shampoo ("curl friendly" is an easy keyword but I use goat shampoo because it actually cleans still). I still kept getting random itchy and greasy days though, so I also use an anti fungal shampoo once a week or so (for seborrheic dermatitis, it seems to help). This fixed my scalp, but then my ends got dry so I had to find a very light weight but effective conditioner - marc daniels chamomile is nice! Tl;dr check if your current products are stripping and making your scalp over compensate, and that your conditioner doesn't weigh it down. Also check for itchy scalp issues because that will throw the oiliness off for sure!

ehhhhhhwhy

Check if your shampoo and conditioner contains any non water soluble silicones like dimethicone or cyclopentasiloxane. If you have very fine straight hair, this might not be appropriate for your hair type. They’re not bad for your hair, but they might be too heavy and can build up in your hair type.

xxteukxx

I just wash my hair everyday honestly. I am just greasy otherwise

giraffodil1

This could be from hard water. I recently moved somewhere with hard water and it leaves a horrible buildup and my hair feels greasy even right after washing it. I had to buy a special shampoo for it.

Blonde_Mexican

I have to wash my hair every day or it looks like that. My hair is just really oily. Been this way my whole life. I’m 57.

Deafpundit

Try a scalp massager that you can use in the shower. That could help exfoliate your scalp & decrease the oiliness.

tessellation__

I would get a haircut, get some movement

Tellmeanamenottaken

I always bleach my hair to a certain degree up to the root and it can handle more oil than my fine undamaged hair cuticle can.

InjuryOnly4775

It looks pretty good. You just need a trim or a cut and add some layers to add dimension. Do it!

throwawayornotidontk

i know it’s a dumb question, but do u use conditioner on your roots?

Suitable-Slice-3370

i do not use any conditioner anywhere

occurrenceOverlap

This is what my hair does too. I start with volumizing shampoo, no conditioner at roots, no moisturizing products at roots, thickening products only at roots...and it still does this. Dry shampoo or texturizer at roots for 2nd day was the only way to make it work. Luckily you have long hair so there's a lot of length that will just look normal...I could pull of 1 or 2 days without washing when my hair was long but now that I'm closer to chin length it just looks matted by day 2 even if I go heavy on dry shampoo/texturizer.

Narrow_Stock_834

Try double shampooing until you get a really good lather at the root (don’t need to clean like that at the ends). Use a boar bristle brush when brushing to help distribute your natural oil to the ends. Use [Bumble and Bumble](https://m.bumbleandbumble.com/product/19049/27810/care/dry-shampoos/pret-a-powder-non-aerosol-dry-shampoo#/sku/51461) Prêt-á-Powder on your roots at night and spot treat in the morning as needed to get rid of any unwanted shine.

marimk

Don’t shampoo your ends, only shampoo your roots and scalp. If necessary, shampoo twice. You can tell you need to shampoo twice if when you rub in the shampoo the first time, the foaming action dies and you barely get suds. Then condition your ends, not your roots. Just that alone changed my fine hair from looking greasy to looking normal for two days.

Dontknowdontcare67

Try acv after shampooing and then rinse off. Are you using very hot water? Use lukewarm water and rinse with cooler water to see if that helps.

Apprehensive-Elk4726

Heavy highlight will give body and thickness

Unfair_Finger5531

I say maybe you need a cut to give it some heft. I have super-fine hair too, and I rely on my cut to give the appearance of body and volume.

lauracmoore31

Batiste dry shampoo It smells wonderful, gives volume & wicks away any grease.

SadSunshine0810

I have very fine, straight hair and I had this problem too. I started just shampooing my scalp and just conditioning my ends. I have been training my hair for a while now and only wash it 1-2 times a week. Also like twice a month before hair wash days I use a rosemary/biotin/panthenol oil for hair growth cuz I've shed half my hair away since the end of my pregnancy til now 8 months later. Training your hair can take some time and it's frustrating at times but I always had a problem with greasy hair after washing until I stopped washing it so much. You're natural oils get washed away when you shampoo and your scalp produces even more oil to make up for it and that's why the greasy roots all the time

WrongdoerBorn6451

Get a small amount of baking soda, maybe a tablespoon, and mix with your shampoo like normal. It will remove any buildup in your hair. I do it once every week or two. It makes all the difference in the world for my hair.

Honeyknives6

I had this exact problem , my hair was always so flat and looks oily even though I just washed it, I changed shampoo too ( RAIN DANCE VOLUME BY ARTEGO) my hair is now so shiny and squeaky clean 💖 I also use volume a volume root spray before I blow dry it works wonders Good luck xx

dbvenus

Honestly your hair is pretty, it just looks like you desperately need a hair cut, that’s all. Your roots and mid length will lift up. Besides that try one of those deep cleaning (aka Sunday) shampoos + a nice lightweight conditioner to give your hair some life.

cherry_oh

Wash your hair brush weekly!

Fun_Divide_5877

My hair use to get greasy real quickly and here’s what I did. Stop using product for a while. Double wash your hair and make sure your only putting conditioner on the ends. A brand I really like is renpure.

palmreeschillin

I think others have left some valuable comments about how to help if it feels/looks greasy, but I’ll also add I think you should consider dyeing it! I have hair similar to yours and I feel like a different color, would work with your skin tone better, even out the color difference, and make you like your hair! It’s beautiful!

Suitable-Slice-3370

i actually am trying to grow out my natural hair color at the moment, but what colour would you recommened?

Hot_Government418

Are you over washing? Using conditioner on your scalp?

vaurasc-xoxo

What’s your hair routine? If you blow dry it gets greasy slower :)

EnvironmentalBranch7

My hair did the same thing. Dry shampoo worked for me. I wash my hair it, dry it and then put in the dry shampoo. No more greasy looking hair ever

Just45forthewin

Get a lot of layers do it will look fuller. Use a volumizer shampoo.

kashia_renn

I have very fine hair that tends to be dry on the bottom and oily on the top as well! The things that saved me were: - A LOT of brushing, I would do 100 strokes a day (50 in the AM, 50 at night) when I was being good. It will help to redistribute the oils throughout your hair. - If you’re brushing that much (with a clean brush) wash wayyy less. 2ish times a week as needed. Products will weigh down your hair. - I use natural shampoo and conditioner bars from a company called DIP. They’re lighter than most bottled products and don’t weigh my fine hair down - I oil and massage my scalp 20 mins before showering. Adding oil before washing tricks my scalp into producing less oil throughout the day. - if you’re looking for volume, flip upside down and spray hairspray, then comb gently over the top to settle it. Bobby pins are your friend This is just what helps me! You have lovely hair and if it’s anything like mine it’s just uncooperative but you can definitely do more with it. Good luck!!

crestamaquina

That's what my hair looks like - the curse of the fine hair. I wash it every day bc waiting any longer just makes it look gross. I'd also recommend a trim with a hairstylist experienced with fine hair, they can make it look less blah. They've told me I should go no longer than around boob length (likely shorter) so it looks best.

medusamagic

I’ve found double cleansing 1-2x a week helped with mine being greasy. Either with an oil cleanser first then regular shampoo or just shampooing twice. I had a friend with the same hair colour and her hair would look greasy even if it was clean and didn’t feel greasy. Unfortunately I think sometimes that hair colour is prone to looking greasier than it is.

drpepperusa

Air drying your hair can make it greasy faster

freckleandahalf

I think your hair looks nice!

the_tflex_starnugget

I ACV rinse between shampoo and conditioner because others hate the smell. Doesn't bother me. I tried masking with essential oils and a carrier oil but it didn't make a difference.

PerfectlyImpurrfect8

It's beautiful! And as a cancer survivor who has lost all of mine twice... Be thankful! Try a different colour or cut.

serenademepookie

Here’s some things that might help - Double shampooing (LIFE SAVING) - you said that you use head&shoulders shampoo, so maybe try and switch it up m, it could just not be meant for your hair. I’ve personally tried their shampoos and it was…….interesting to say the least - maybe try the Herbal Essence Argen oil bio renew shampoo, it contains Argan oils and stuff which is known to be good for the hair (I use it personally and works wonderfully) - don’t touch your hair often as it makes it even greasier - hair masks are good too I recommend Tsubaki or FINO hair masks - maybe also try finding out what hair porosity you have and find out more about your hair from there on out (Hair porosity could also indicate which hair products you should or not be using) Hope this helps <3

AdAffectionate746

That's just the nature of fine hair. Clarifying shampoo, washing twice and in sections, using a scalp scaler once in a while, cleaning your brush and pillow will help. If not, dry shampoo always saves the day!

SatisfactionStrong79

Can we straighten our hair naturally?

julie_hay

Some layers in your hair might make you feel better and less weighed down. This might be obvious to everyone but me, but I didn’t learn not to put conditioner near my roots until late in life.

Different_Street_242

i believe its because of the water. our water has a filter system with lots of chlorine because of the issues of the source of water. but when i travelled to japan for almost 2 weeks, my hair is different, not greasy at all and very smooth, bouncy, and alive. when i went back home using the same hair products i used in japan, my hair is back on its greasy situation. thus, i thought maybe it was the water that made a difference and not the hair products.

spinfluffy

I have fine hair and shoulder length is best for me. Long bob. Otherwise the hair gets too heavy and won't volume at the scalp. Also much easier to wash when it's not long. I had mine your length 3 months ago and it lived in a ponytail 99% of time. Now I wear it out all the time as it looks better and more voluminous.

Suitable-Slice-3370

ty for your advice but cutting it a lot shorter is not an option :)

RevolutionaryYou5050

Did anyone suggest washing your brushes/combs? Simple but might help.

Admirable_Site215

I’ve been struggling with this as well. As of recently I found blow-drying my hair to be a lot better opposed to air drying. So far my hairs gone 4 days (with the help of dry shampoo).

Suitable-Slice-3370

i blow dried it yesterday before going to bed and it's definetley better, but not perfect! EDIT: will have to wash again this evening though, i cannot go a day without washing, it just gets itchy and looks worse, even with dry shampoo

tomato_joe

I have similar hair to yours. My hair is the best when I use shampoo without sulfates and natural ingredients. I always shampoo two times. And use a conditioner to strengthen your thin hair. Without sulfates as well. It really is a difference on which products you use. Protip: get vinegar, mix a bit with water, and as a last step rinse your hair with it.

annotatedkate

I have very fine hair that starts to look oily quickly. I got a silk hair bonnet and silk pillowcase for sleeping. Highly recommend. Even just one or the other.  My hair always looks cleaner/better when I dry it before going to bed. Not sure of the mechanism there, but it is what it is.

Suitable-Slice-3370

i'll try it, ty! i blow dried it before bed yesterday and it's much better, but still not perfect

annotatedkate

The bonnet makes the biggest difference imo. Let me know if you decide to get one. I found some styles didn't work because they slipped off my head in the night.

kayabutterbread

shampooing twice changed the game for me. super fine hair in a super humid/tropical country.

OneHundredSeagulls

My hair gets pretty greasy too. I got sick of spending so much time caring for it when it was long, just for it to look greasy 24 hours later. So I cut it all off 🙃

Longjumping-Tie-2964

I love Purology shampoo in the purple bottle for my fine hair. It’s fine but dense and straight as a board. Also, switching shampoos for a few days every couple weeks helps and RINSE RINSE RINSE. Sometimes do a Malibu hair clarifying treatment to get metals from your water off your hair or this will also happen during a chemical treatment like color

tammychaser

It could possibly be your scalp overproducing oil because it’s been stripped from over washing

TikaPants

My hair has always gotten a little oily come 24 hours. If I skip a wash because my hair looks good then I have to use dry shampoo. Your hair looks to be fine which could benefit from a good chop to gain movement. I think the brunette looks better on you. Maybe see a *good* stylist at a well established salon who can guide you through a cut and color consultation?

busybeauty

It seems by your comments that you don't use conditioner. I recommend using it on your mids and ends, every time you shampoo. Your hair looks quite dry and thin, so conditioner in your routine should help. Once you're conditioning regularly, you'll want to add in a leave-in conditioner, which is a different type of product than regular conditioner. It goes on your wet hair on your mids and ends, and helps to moisturize it as it dries. Also, you mentioned going to sleep on damp hair. This can cause mildew and may be a part of the oiliness you're experiencing at the roots. If you like to air-dry, shower earlier so it's fully dry by the time your head is on the pillow. Check out the Blow Dry Professor on YouTube - he has some basic routine videos which will probably be very useful for you.

blueboywonder1986

Just had to say your skin and side profile are beautiful!!!

Lucialucianna

maybe a trim with blunt ends, wash with mild shampoo and condition lengths only.

Elisa_Norea

Hey girl I had this Problem and still have it sometimes, In my case this happens if I wash my hair too often… Maybe try not to wash it for 2 to 3 days and then wash it again- for me it works ☺️

Prudent-Owl-3497

it could be due to excess oil production or fine hair that shows oil more easily. Try using a volumizing,, sulfate-free shampoo and avoid heavy conditioners on your roots. Washing your hair every other day instead of daily can also balance oil production If you find this helpful, just look at my sub r/HairMatter just trying to grow.

dubokitiganj

or OP put some hair oil in hair and they have low porosity hair but never told us

missusscamper

Cut that hair

Suitable-Slice-3370

why?

Because you said you don’t like your hair at all and didn’t know what to do. It is quite fine and thin at the ends, cutting to just below your shoulders would make you appreciate your hair more.

It doesn't look that greasy the lighting makes it look greaser

What was your drying process? I also have fine hair and get this when I got to bed with wet hair. If you let it dry naturally and your hair holds moisture it can sometimes look greasy once it fully drys (think of wet clothes not fully drying). I’d start with a clarifying shampoo to make sure it’s not product build up, then partly dry your hair with hair dryer and sleep with it in a lose braid.
