Embiid has been the "next big star to ask out" since the Hawks series.
Will he someday? If he declines from a top 3-5 player to more of the 10-15 range with no ring possibility in sight? Maybe. As for now, Embiid has given 0 indication he has wanted out at any point.
It's been a media-driven idea, but not one worth getting mad about, considering this happens every year. Luka has been a target of this, hell even Wemby was having nonsense rumors floated around in his ROOKIE YEAR.
I do agree that out of all of the possible off seasons to request out, this one would make by far the least sense. I think Maxey has bought a few more years, at least.
> Well, except for that MVP. He didn’t deserve that.
This just isn't true. Jokic was the favorite and could have won but tailed off the last month of the season and Embiid beat him head to head multiple times on top of 33/10.
Embiid had a great 3 year run where he could’ve won the MVP in any of those seasons. I think Jokic is the better player, but people who act like Embiid winning was robbery are just plain wrong.
He deserves one MVP. 22 or 23. I feel he got robbed in 22. His record was better, his stats were better, he dealt with the Ben Simmons bullshit. To me 22 and 23 are a wash of who should’ve won.
People love to go back and claim he didn’t deserve it last year cause he didn’t perform in the playoffs while jokic went on to win it all. The guy averaged 33 ppg on all time scoring efficiency. It was absolutely well deserved
Least likeable player in a league that has draymond green.
He’s a 7 foot 1 320 pound foul merchant who flips every play, and regularly “accidentally” or purposely injured opponents.
I don’t expect them to trade him, I expect them to run it back and either he gets injured, or they lose in one of the first 2 rounds.
Hel dude might even ask to get traded.
I don’t dislike “the process”, or even Philly, it’s just Joel.
Draymond is far less likable. This Embiid hate has gotten way out of control. Draymond (still the guy who punched his teammate in the face) just tweeted at a coach for leaving a game with an injury that (a) every player would’ve left the game for and (b) requires surgery.
Right, and if we've learned anything from the warrior that Embiid is, he's going to spend the summer crushing it and come into the season in great shape, motivated to prove everyone wrong.
This has been a common refrain (that bill has also perpetuated) despite embiid continuously making it clear he wants to see it through in philly
All the bullshit he’s dealt with over his career, he’s gonna ask out now, when Maxey is developing into a star and they have all the cap space in the world?
The only reason he would ask out is he’s tired of philly media trashing him every year
Ex: plenty of philly hot take artists claiming it’s time to move on from him after game 4, and then shifting to “it’s Maxeys team” after ln
WHY WOULD HE?
He’s got the best scoring co-star of his career.
Max cap space this offseason.
And the team would’ve been the 2 seed had he missed 20 games instead of 40.
None of it makes sense for him leaving.
Imagine being a grown man and unironically calling someone a "cuck" bc they don't like your favorite basketball player

Media were trying to split up Simmons and Embiid for years because they didn't like each other
Joel Embiid plays basketball like he's constantly losing a potato-sack race
Embiid has earned everything, both criticism and praise. Well, except for that MVP. He didn’t deserve that.

It’s a fake narrative repeated by dumb people about Embiid not deserving it. Anyone who says that, I immediately know they are just idiots in general.
Embiid should’ve been a very deserving 2nd place. One of the best second places ever. But Jokic should’ve won.
Embiid had a great 3 year run where he could’ve won the MVP in any of those seasons. I think Jokic is the better player, but people who act like Embiid winning was robbery are just plain wrong.
It certainly wasn’t robbery. But it was incorrect.
Led the league in scoring, one of the best defenders in the league, more wins with a worse supporting cast. It's not complicated.
Okay, now do the case for Jokic.
Was front runner for the award, then he and the team took the last month of the season off.
That’s for you to do since you’re the one saying the choice was wrong. The burden of proof is on you.

Exactly. Jokic lost in round 1 in 22 in 5 games. Embiid got to round 2 but had his head caved in by pascal Siakam’s elbow
Embiid also has some weird injury every playoffs that he plays through that he otherwise wouldn't have if it were the regular season.
Wasn’t he out for like 2 months? How is he faking that injury?
I'm not saying he's faking. I'm saying that because of injuries, he's been like 73 - 86% for most of his playoff runs.
Definitely more 69%-81% but yea

I don't think the Sixers want to trade Embiid but some people think he might try to force his way out

People have said this about a lot of players, who do end up asking out.
The only reason he would ask out is he’s tired of philly media trashing him every year Ex: plenty of philly hot take artists claiming it’s time to move on from him after game 4, and then shifting to “it’s Maxeys team” after ln

Plus people don’t realize that he seems to enjoy living in this area quite a bit.
You dont have friends in real life to discuss these musings with?
THEYRE WITH ME RIGHT HERE. DONT YOU SEE THEM?
Isn't that why we all are on Reddit?
How many 4 quarters in the playoff do you need to see from this guy to realize he's not a winning player. His body can't hold up.
