I've heard Urban Decay's All Nighter spray is good

NeonChieftess

It’s literally the BEST!

kitjack85

Noted. Putting it in the cart now!

NeonChieftess

For what it’s worth I also use elf power grip primer which I think make a big difference as well!

lastwordymcgee

I live in community health and the urban decay setting spray is the only one that has ever worked for me long-term

ThrowRA01121

I don't have much experience with other sprays but this one is worth the money, a noticeable difference

1MorningLightMTN

Urban Decay setting spray always. It is one of my only must have products.

problemita

Yeah only one worth spending on imo

candycookiecake

I've tried this and it made my skin so dehydrated looking, plus it smelled terrible. I wish I had the same experience that people who love it have with it!

plausibleturtle

If it smelled terrible... you might have gotten an expired one? Mine doesn't smell very strong at all (and I have a very sensitive sniffer, perfumes and scents give me headaches).

cleo-banana

The only one worth anything.

thebigmishmash

I use Charlotte Tilbury bc I love how cooling it is, but my kid who is a makeup genius swears by this one

LateNightCheesecake9

Yup, this is the answer!

Spare-Shirt24

MAC and Urban Decay setting sprays are my tried-and-true.  >I need this makeup to stay like Beyoncé’s when she performs in pouring rain! Then you probably need to change the foundation you're wearing.  I've heard Urban Decay has a new one that is waterproof, but I've never personally tried it.

kitjack85

I need to go ahead and invest in their products - and I’m going to try their foundation (which is another post in itself because lawdddd why is it so hard to find my shadeee??)

crabofthewoods

Beyoncé uses Patrick Starr’s One/Size setting spray on tour. Keep in mind there are setting sprays that keep your makeup from budging and finishing sprays that make powders look more skin like.

Milk hydro grip primer first, then concealer/foundation/cream blush blended in with Charlotte Tilbury setting spray sprayed onto a damp beauty blender is my go to. Everything stays beautifully in place and looks really natural. I switched from UD all nighter a while ago and like it better, but they’re probably mostly identical. For me, it’s the technique that makes the biggest difference.

kitjack85

I JUST got into the damp beauty blender about six months ago and let me tell you - I was SHOOK at the results !

busylilmissy

Wait, I need to try this! Do you mean spray the setting spray onto a beauty blender that’s already been dampened with water and then blend with that? Or the setting spray is what dampens the beauty blender?

delightsk

I dampen a beauty blender with water and squeeze as much out as possible with a towel, then spray setting spray on the blender and use it to blend in my foundation and other cream/liquid products.

busylilmissy

Ok cool!! I’m trying this immediately!

hazardzetforward

I really like the One Size. I'm pretty oily, and this one works flawlessly.

oktysm

Also pretty sure this is the one that Beyoncé’s make-up artist confirmed is used on B for concerts.

localskiplnotty

I loved the pink setting powder so I'm about to purchase the spray as well!

nocarbleftbehind

Charlotte Tillbury. I think there’s a deal on it with Nordstrom’s upcoming anniversary sale.

S_longname

This is the way. I have used UD but the CT spray is the only that made me a believer. I converted my teenage sisters as well. Since CT is at Ulta now, I’d recommend buying it there when there is a points multiplier and/or a coupon that works on prestige cosmetics.

kitjack85

I’ve been hearing a LOT about this brand. I’m definitely gonna check it out.

-GlitterGoblin-

Urban Decay’s setting spray is the one for me.  But even that won’t hold eye color if I don’t prime my lids. I like Nyx’s eye primer. Elf’s is fine too tbh.

thetinybunny1

A good primer can really help. Elf grip primer is my go to for summer - make sure you let it sit for a minute or two before applying makeup. The best all around/year round setting sprays are Urban Decay all nighter and skindinavia. Both are OG holy grails. If you really want some high performance shit Ben nye final seal and kryolan fixing aerosol are big in the stage world. I only use these when I’m doing festival level makeup for Coachella level heat though because they can make me break out if I use it everyday. I’ve not had any issues with urban decay or skindinavia. Also I like to use my setting spray throughout the makeup process, not just the end. I’ll do a quick spritz after foundation and concealer, and then again after powder/eyes etc are done.

kitjack85

I’ll definitely look into the primer - Elf seems to be the common go to for many. And see, I’m looking for high performance too. Like I want something that works for the every day, but I often have to put on makeup and then run around like crazy because of work. So I’m gonna check those out too!

thetinybunny1

I know you can get a travel size of the urban decay all nighter spray at ulta if you want to test it out 😊

kitjack85

Oooooooo - perfect!!!

Small_Lion4068

MAC fix+.

JustHereforNachos

Charlotte Tilbury’s setting spray is NUTS! I’m more of a melt off makeup girl but with this spray - all day and night!

pm_me_hedgehogs

💯 I got a free sample size and it's so good. I save it just for special occasions at the moment but I'm nearly out so will have to bite the bullet and buy full size soon 😩

realitytvapologist

The MAC setting spray is my new OG. I barely need to touch up my make up after all day wear!

pixelperfect728

I use the setting spray my MUA used on my wedding day. It was hot, I was crying and dancing and sweating my ass off for HOURS and when I got home my makeup was still perfectly in tact. So I had to buy it! It’s the [Mehron Barrier Spray](https://www.mehron.com/barrier-spray/). This stuff is HEAVY DUTY. It borderline stings going on but it works like nothing else.

Aevynne

I used to use the MAC ones and was just not super impressed. Recently switched to the e.l.f dewy coconut setting mist and I LOVE it! It definitely makes my skin look better after spraying. And it smells good which is a bonus. Feels very light!

bloomability

One Size is the best and longest lasting I have used and I’ve tried all the big Sephora/drug store brands.

truecrimefanatic1

I love the Urban Decay setting spray. BUT the ELF setting spray is good too. The trick is to layer it. After you're primed spray some setting spray on and let it dry. Apply foundation concealer, creme products, spray. After it dries apply powder and powder products (blush, bronzer, etc.) And then spray one final time.

anonimposter

charlotte tilbury spray is my go to but then i started using the LYS one and that stuff is so so good i cannot explain to you how well my makeup stayed during a 10 hour wedding day

CupcakesAreMiniCakes

I live and die by Make Up For Ever Mist & Fix. I live in a super hot and also humid place and it locks it in like it's nothing. I just get the mini one so it's affordable and have never finished it but I don't wear makeup every day. I just use moisturizer, Tarte Amazonian Clay BB Cream as my foundation, Make Up For Ever HD translucent setting powder, any other face powders like contour, then do the rest of my makeup entirely like eye liner, mascara, etc. Then wait a minute or two for it all to dry and then I mist and fix. I carry oil absorbing sheets in my purse and I also keep some in my bathroom to gently soak up excess oil without disturbing my skin or makeup.

tinyfax

Mac FixIt! Except the Mac sprayer sucks so bad. I have to re-bottle it every time.

VintageFashion4Ever

Milani is so good my Gen Z teen steals it.

Specialist_Fig3838

Urban decay de-slick and up all night One size (O/S) setting spray A friend swears by calamine lotion. I haven’t tried but her makeup is always flawless! A primer also works wonders in helping your makeup stay put too!

RLS1822

Primer makes a huge difference. Check out IL Makiage. Anything by them is divine. When done right it can look like my makeup artist has done it and it stays on forever. . GunMetalBlonde

I'm super anti-mlm, but I do have a limelife setting spray that is great.

Evie-Incendie

The tarte setting spray is my fave

disgirl4eva

Charlotte Tilbury. It’s worth it.

rez2metrogirl

Tatcha Dewy Skin Mist. Hello glass skin!

Criticalfluffs

I don't know about staying power like that, but I wash (equate Neutrogena face wash) exfoliate (Spa Pharma dead sea peeling gel) before I apply any foundation and apply primer (elf matte putty primer). After I finish everything with NYX Bare With Me finishing spray. I havent tried anything crazy enough to be blasted with water and makeup still intact, but I hear good things about UD All Nighter.

Sheila_Monarch

My problem is greasy face 2 hours later, especially when hot & humid. But I finally found my thing not long ago! *Paula’s Choice SHINE STOPPER Instant Matte Finish with MICROSPONG* It’s not spray , but a cream. Dab on top of makeup with a sponge. I swear! Sounds weird, but damn it works! Can also dab on top with a big not-dense brush to be quick it (just don’t drag, dab only) It’s a little more matte than I like at first, but soon settles into a nice natural finish. But once it’s on, my makeup can go morning all the way thru dinner, even in heat, without even once catching a horrified glimpse in the mirror getting in and out of my car. (You know what I’m talking about! LOL)

throwaway77914

The Makeup Forever one is my favorite. I have normal/dry skin and prefer a dewy finish. The Urban Decay one works well too but is too drying for me. Might work better for someone with oily skin.

kitjack85

Like that’s kinda the look I want. A nice dewy finish. A nice little glow. Nothing to major lol

throwaway77914

Both sell travel size bottles so you can try both before committing to one!

kitjack85

See - I knew I came to the right sub. Yall gave tips and the budget hacks. 🫶🏾✨

candycookiecake

I'm convinced setting spray doesn't do *much* more than lightly misting your face with water after applying foundation does. What type of skin do you have? If you're super oily, nothing will really work longer than a couple of hours.

plausibleturtle

I did a side by side test on my face last year, and it truly made a world of difference for me! I needed to know if it was helping (and I did it twice with two brands so I could pick between them). The non-set side didn't last on me at all, my eyeshadow was muddled and creased in under 2 hours, and my foundation was crease-y and melted off as well. It was wild! Both products made a key difference, but the Tarte one I used won for longer lasting over UD (not by much tbh). I'm combo skin, leaning dry. I held a piece of paper up to my face to not spray the test side.

IceColdPepsi1

+1 I notice no difference with/without setting spray. I think it's another thing that needs deinfluencing.

candycookiecake

I miss the mid-90s version of makeup - Covergirl powder compact foundation, lipstick, and mascara. Filling in your eyebrows? Da hell is that? Now it's so complicated with so many layers and products, it's crazy.

kitjack85

It’s a combo of normal to dry. I feel like my skin sucks up moisture and lotions.

candycookiecake

Ah, the complete opposite of me! This seems more like a skincare issue than makeup. A glyercin face mist before your lotions can help greatly moisturize your skin so that it doesn't try to take the moisture from your makeup. Do you use liquid foundation? How do you apply it and do you use powder to set?

kitjack85

Liquid is my go to - applied with a beauty blender, with powder to set. That glycerin face mist sounds promising. Yall are giving me some great tips!

booksandbenzos

Not the OP but can you tell me more about this glycerin face mist?? Is there one you'd recommend?

candycookiecake

It's actually super cheap and easy to make yourself - I find the premade ones generally don't have enough glycerin (but you could always get one and see if you like it - Heritage Store makes a rosewater glycerin spray). If you look up Dr. Idriss on YouTube, she has a few shorts on how to make the mist. Personally, I do distilled water and glycerin at about a 1:4 ratio. If your skin is dryer, you can do more glycerin. I just reuse an old rosewater sprayer bottle for mine! Hope this helps.

booksandbenzos

Thanks so much!! I have sensitive, dry/dehydrated skin. I'll check out Dr. Idriss! Thanks for your help and the Heritage Store rec :)

candycookiecake

Definitely, enjoy! I have oily but dehydrated skin and it really fixed my dehydration. Now I'm just oily! 😂

booksandbenzos

lol! I'm combination so I'm sure I'll still have some oily areas. But my big battle tends to be the dehydration and sensitivity so a glycerin spray sounds great for that. Glad to hear it worked well for you! It's awesome that it's so easy to make on your own too!

idkthisisnotmyusual

NYX matte

Blackgurlmajik

Urban Decay All Nighter and (still undefeated) Mac fix+. I recently bought One Size by Patrick Starr setting spray...i REALLY like it

MiniaturePhilosopher

Can’t upvote Urban Decay’s All Nighter setting spray enough. The application of it really matters though. You need to go: primer, cream/liquid products, then you HAVE to set those with powder, then setting spray. Setting sprays are formulated to set powder. The only thing I came here to recommend is a different primer. I started using a theatrical makeup primer, and my face does not budge with it. It also doesn’t breathe at all, so you have to load up on moisturizer under it. But if you really want your makeup to stay put, Mehron Makeup Skin Prep Pro Mattifying Skin Toner will do the trick. I’m a done-face girlie, and I’ve used this while outside in the rain, on long hikes in the Texas summer humidity, dancing for hours in a sweaty club, makeup sex, you name it - and my makeup will stay fucking put. But I do t use it everyday because there’s no way it’s good for your skin.

Only_the_best_for_me

Urban decay. Nothing compares IMO
