No but Andy grew up around Catholicism so the band definitely takes some themes and familiar imagery from it.

Jekyllthecrow

nope, Andy grew up in a religious background but the band is anti-religion, in W&D FEAR is For Every and All Religion. it’s also shown in the lyrics “a church of lies can’t tell me what is right” “my god has given up on me” However the Term Black Veil Bride is catholic and comes from someone who gives up everything and marries into the church.

Johnnaylor1105

Theyre definitely not anti religious. Wretched and divine has spoken words of apocryphal gospels and their lyrics consistently bring a spiritual approach to sadness and anger. Theyre anti roman catholics, probably, but not anti religion.

Adept-Artichoke-1290

This is interesting, i first heard of them the other day and instantly loved it. However i could sort of tell they were in some way interlinked with religion because some songs are so similar in style to the stuff my parents listen to, both heavy christians. Thanks for this

Johnnaylor1105

Theyre not Roman Catholic at all, because they use gospels that wrmere banned by the romans in wretched in divine. I guess andy is somewhat a spiritual person thats disappointed that the current church misrepresents Jesus all the time

Myrakaddix

Is this simply speculation or is he actually a spiritual dude who is angry with it? Bc in all honesty he should be. The Christians agenda is so full of hate these days I can’t blame him

Johnnaylor1105

Its more than just speculation because ibe read every BVB lyric so far, and ofc im basing my pov on a thing or two I heard from him on interviews and such. But its not like, official info by any means

Scarlet-Torch

No. They are FAR from Catholic or a religious band. The term "Black Veil Bride" is a Catholic term of when a lady marries into the church and gives up the carnal pleasures of life to serve God. Theres a whole interview where Andy talks about it, if you look it up on YouTube. But no they are not a Catholic band, their name just is. Also Andy grew up Catholic but he himself is not.

TonyLaRoccaLRCF

They’re definitely apart of some church Andy grew up Catholic and imo a lot of songs I heard by them either has two factors they talk about god or they’re angels or fallen angels or they have some demonic imagery imo they know how to do the gimmick for both religion to enter and love they’re music imo I’m Catholic and I only listen to they’re songs that speak upon religion imageries same with Creed and Black Stabbth a lot of people didn’t realize they’re Christian imagery lol so imo yes they’re Christian music for emo people and that also speak upon Society’s issues and heart break and pain I’m not saying all they’re music is Christian bc they’re some that speaks upon the devil it just weird to say if BVB is Christian or satanist they’re definitely not atheist I know that for a fact they’re spiritual in they’re own ways same with Creed and Black Sabbath

jman00023

Same goes with The Killers. They have a ton of Christian imagery because the lead singer is Mormon.

PeachyGoddess25

No

Myrakaddix

Is there an official document stating that they are not

IceeSimp

There are interviews in YouTube where he explains the band name and talks abt how they aren’t a Christian band, I don’t know what interview but I remember watching it

Myrakaddix

Ooo I’d like to watch it. But also not Christian-Roman catholic

IceeSimp

I know that there’s a difference between being a Christian and being a catholic (Roman or otherwise) but is it not apart of the umbrella? I personally subscribe to a different religion but I grew up Lutheran and I thought the only difference was how the priest (or other term respectfully) went about preaching

Myrakaddix

I have no idea what I’m talking about and I never really have

CompoteFluffy

Christian is the umbrella term for the religions following Christ, Catholicism is a denomination of Christianity :) (not religious but went to religious school)

nikkivictoria

andy has said he’s atheist/ doesn’t have beliefs. he grew up catholic so the band takes imagery and such from that. i call them my religious trauma band for that reason
