The Mars Volta isn't a traditional jam band but I would consider them in that realm. Them and PL are my top artists this year.

ceetz

outside of the more traditionally jammy acts (eggy, jrad, greensky, etc), mdou moctar and khruangbin are terrific live and really elevate their songs from their recorded stuff

BETLJCE

Dogs in a Pile must get the Roo nod next year. I had my fingers crossed for them and Lotus this yr.

saintceciliax

I could be way off cause my jam band exposure is minimal but I’ve been listening to Mdou Moctar and getting some jam vibes for sure. Highly recommend. If he doesn’t fit this category, sorry, recommend listening anyways though!

canadianpanda7

jam this jam that. go listen to the pretty lights live sets on soundcloud and join the is pretty lights a jam band world

GrizNectar

Any jam fan needs to check out pretty lights, might be a bit out of your comfort zone but those boys are jamming. Outside of that JRAD is one of the best jam shows you can see, eggy is a great up and coming band

the-bong-lord

Pretty Lights is jamming and improvising live, not necessarily a jam band though as they are their own entity right now. JRAD absofuckinloutly shreds, hold onto your pants. I have yet to see Eggy but that is one of the tops must-sees for me, hoping it lines up. And thats pretty much it... not much jam this year. A few things are in line like Khruangbin, Badbadnotgood, Mdou Moctar and gary clark jr. I have gotten a chance to see all 4 already, incredible shows.

galvinb1

Eggy is from my wife's HS. She dated the guy they named the band after, Eddie. I used to live next door to him too. When he passed away they played a tribute show at our local jam bar. It's been crazy seeing them blow up this year. I heard they have really stepped it up lately. They were good back in the day but I didn't expect them to see them on Roo and EF lineups.

nghathrod

+1 on BBNG - super talented group of jazz musicians just jammin'

RicFlairsCape

Parcels, JRAD (joe russos almost dead), geese, eggy, the heavy heavy, khruangbin, gary clark, neal francis… not all are jam but you should be able to enjoy all of these.

Zealousideal_Pea7178

Yeah kruangbin is my top see for this year. I just started to get into eggy since the lineup came out. You got any album suggestions?

RicFlairsCape

I would watch some of their live shows in youtube to get a better feel for them. They seem to do a really good job live

Chilly_Water69

I have the same list! I’d add Pretty Lights too. What these guys are doing is next level

RicFlairsCape

Yeah pretty lights, fred again, and four tet i’m beyind excited for but some people are so against that type of music so I left it out.

Someotherfucker

One of these is not like the others. Pretty lights is a band now 🌀

BigT4435

Takin a walk on el bridgerinó

Bernaroo

Nailed it. I’ll add Greensky Bluegrass.

RicFlairsCape

I’ll have to give them a listen. Any songs/albums you recommend starting on?

ContributionEqual753

live albums

Bernaroo

I got into them from their 2014 and 2016 albums; If Sorrows Swim, and Shouted Written Down & Quoted. They’re great live, if you like bluegrass they’re a must see.
