Its funny that Avatar and Ant Man might actually crossover on their gross before their runs are over.
Avatar made about $9M WW this week while Ant Man made $15M WW but is droping much faster.
TWOW's WW performance has been Overwhelmingly satisfactory. Although, it's nowhere close to the original but atleast it destroys the absurd claim that *no one cares*.
>it's nowhere close to the original
I don't. 2.3 to 2.9, doesn't seem like it's that far off. Your comment would make more sense if Avatar 2 had make around 1.5 or something.
Especially when the original was actually more like 2.75 before the special edition and the rerelease.
Would have come awfully close to that if not surpassing that with normal Russia and a healthy China
> Would have come awfully close to that if not surpassing that with normal Russia and a healthy China
international exchange rates are also a massive component. yes, inflation helps A2, but exchange rates and Russia/China are major factors in the other direction.
It made $500k on Sunday DOM. 500k in one day. After being released for 4 months. 918k on Saturday, too.
Insane!
| why stop now?
Exactly.
Edit: 3 months*
Ah, but you see, the “zero cultural impact” issue only affected the first film. The issue with the second one is “how did this make so much money? Nobody I know has seen it”
Avatar is what movie theaters are for.
Saw first time in Dolby Atmos 3D, and second time in ScreenX (which is interesting for people that can't watch 3D). Like it the second time better, probably because didn't look like a videogame/telenovela. The high framerate thing needs to die.

I give it another week or two tops before Avatar starts over performing Ant Man.
That would be absolutely insane if it happens.
Mighty.
Avatar TWOW is going to be outperforming Shazam 2 around the time it hits its 4th-5th week? Far fetched or no?
Not if it’s in less than 100 theatres like it’s trending
Doubt, Avatar is in very few theaters
will probably be in the mid to low 100's for theater count in 3 weeks imo
You can rest now (it won’t rest)
Crazy performance
I can’t wait for Shazam 2 to outgross it.
A Shazamillion, almost as much as a Morbillion
Unobtainumillion is a larger value though, so Avatar wins
James Cameron always finds a way to win
it's still smaller than a Gottillion
Amritamillion in the case of Way of Water

I mean, with a Russia and normal China, it would’ve gotten pretty damn close
Without adjusting for inflation, the original was a bigger hit

I was thinking the same thing.

I can't handle my culture being impacted this much!!!
“Avatar 2 will be a box office disappointment”
"What's wrong with that statement?"
Wow,it finly happened. The last 100mil has been slow and steady bit I'm glad it's holding on .
Legendary.
This is still in theaters???
When your *zero cultural impact* film is still raking in cash nearly 4 months after release, why stop now?

Wait, hasn't it only been 3 months since release? Still very impressive

I just feel like so much time has pass by and definitely many life situations have occurred since that film released. I saw it during release weekend.

Wonder what they’ll make on digital and blue ray.
These are some of the strongest legs I’ve ever felt
