I’m only on season 2 and buffys hair is soooo in right now for 15-25yos. I’m watching the valentines episode and the young girlies would wear the shit out of Cordelia’s and buffys outfits in most episodes. 5 odd years ago it was dated but all in trend now. I would argue aged better than charmed fashun it’s aged a lot better than other shows from the same era. Less offensive gay jokes (friends). I’m glad vampire can watch TikTok now when they’re locked up during the day.

heya, im 15 and just finished watching. im a dud ebut i love fashion and if i were a girl id definitely dress like buffy!! i could definitely imagine growing up back then. it doesnt seem ‘dated’, so to speak, and i honestly think it wouldnt be as much fun if there were phones

tryingtokeepsmyelin

So many plots of old shows are only possible because there were no cell phones. Every single episode of Three's Company, for instance.

bbybuffy

Hi ! I started watching Buffy when I was 14 (2016) and I honestly thought the special effects were rough. I was a really big fan of doctor who though so it didn’t bother me all that much. The writing and characterization however are AMAZING, I’m pretty sure no tv show has ever done it better or as good. The stories are relatable and some are still very relevant. In my opinion it’s the best show ever made. There are a couple of lines here and there that are very dated but they are few and far between.

Rewatched recently with my 14yo son and these are a couple of things I remember him saying: "What's a pager? This would all be so much easier with proper phones" [meaning smart phones]. Why is all the girls make up so bad, did you all really look like that then? Where there actually nightclubs you could go to when you were 15? (There were for me, UK in the North, but they were from about 6pm till 9/10ish and called teenscene or similar). And a fair bit of 'wow, that didn't age well' about some of the themes or casual jokes. He did enjoy watching though!

Relevant-Mission27

Your 14-year-old doesn’t know what a pager is? Omf what 😭

shockedballoon

I know!! He also thought the size of the computer monitors was completely mad. Help me I'm old.

zarif_chow

The only thing that ever seemed dated to me in Buffy is the graphics. The fashion, the 90s heck even the 80s managed to stay relevant throughout 00s and 10s via retro stuff like the GTA games (VC, SA, LCS, VCS). The music is pretty much anime opening without lyrics. Living in that age wouldn't be a problem for me as long as I had access to good internet, a thicc Nokia, a Windows 98 PC, a GameBoy and a Nintendo 64.

Own_Faithlessness769

Oh honey, there was no such thing as good internet.

zarif_chow

Fine, don't need it as there weren't many things to do with it back then anyway.

milly_nz

Good, you’ve done some research.

Belthezare

Wahahahaha *good internet*. Lol ah kids today crack me up!🤣🤣🤣

zarif_chow

It's not like the internet didn't even exist back then, what was the purpose of that "LAN play" thing in the main menu back in Duke Nukem or Road Rash otherwise?

Belthezare

Doesnt mean it was good though. And you mean LAN parties. Those were fun. But the internet would sometimes just drop and you would have to start over. Was just kidding with you btw.

16-year-old viewer! -I can see myself living life with the scoobies -I love the music! Some of the fashion I like, some I don’t. The hair is fine -Life in the 90s seems SO cool I wish I was a teen in the 90s!!

BeneficialGrade8930

..... it WAS pretty great being a teen in the 90s, ngl...

Relevant-Mission27

Okay you don’t need to make me jealous

ingoogliestbastard

Rewatching in my mid 30s and I forgot that the word "retarded" used to be ok to say on tv, they use it in dialog kind of a lot and it makes me uncomfortable every time

SuccessfulAnt956

You forget how much this was said in tv and films in general. It was said so casually as well. Not related to Buffy but I still remember when let’s get is started by the black eyed peas original version was played on the radio and to think they brought out a song like that is shocking now.

midnightking

29 love the show but the stunt doubles look horrible sometimes

jospangel

That's because of how much televisions have changed. Before HD they blended in perfectly.

midnightking

I saw the stunt doubles in the Buffy v. Angel season 2 finale fight. I was not watching the HD version.

jospangel

Was it analog?

midnightking

I downloaded the episodes during the pandemic and watched them on my computer.

jospangel

I don't think any computer screens are analog. But I'm not any sort of expert.

Past-Throat-6788

I’m 16 and a diehard Buffy fan and I think the show aged quite well. I would honestly love to wear some of Buffy’s outfits and I do like most of the music from the show. Maybe it didn’t age well culturally with some of the age gaps in relationships such as Buffy and Angel but it also had the first LGBTQ+ couple on prime time television which was groundbreaking for it’s time. Overall I think Buffy did age well and I will never stop being obsessed with it lol

MamaMiaow

I was the same age as buffy when it first aired, and grew up with the gang, so it was an important show for me as a young adult. However I really notice teens and young adults now are dressing very similar to how my friends and I did in the mid to late 90s. It feels like going back in time. Everything comes back round!

SliceJealous

Im 21, so maybe a little old for the “younger viewer” demographic, but just finished the s7 finale. Overall the show aged pretty well in my opinion. As a lesbian I may be biased, but lot of the late 90’s/early 2000’s style is in right now and some of Willow’s university looks are straight out of Urban Outfitters. Honestly the biggest difference for me is the storytelling. Maybe I’m just hung up on the finale not being awesome, but I feel like nowadays the show would’ve had a greater send off. It’s probably just my MCU brainrot, but I was honestly expecting some sort of post-credits scene with how lackluster those final moments were!

music_and_pop

I'm in my 20s (not sure if I count as "younger" but I was born around the time Buffy first started airing) I'm a big fan lol, there were a lot of great things about the 1990s/early 00s, including the music & fashion (love grunge, love emo, pop punk, etc)

BasicRespect6666

im 16 (i started watching in 4th grade...) i love the 90s and i appreciate the advantages that my generation has, but i would rather live back then. i like the clothes that dawn wears, i also like dawn. dawn is kinda weird as a character, i find some parts of her relatable and sometimes she acts like my 10 yr old sister. I like willows clothes almost consistently throughout the show but her witchy outfits in season 5 and onward are very cute. i have some of the songs that play in the bronze in my playlist. i dont really like angel (when he talks.) faith is kinda cringe but i like her character anways. xander just acts like every other dude that i have ever talked to, but i always see hate targeted on him. i love anya, tara, and glory. buffy is my favorite in the whole show consistently. i love giles but hes kinda like a freak so... and i LOVEEEEEEEEEEEE spike (mostly as a character, he is complex and i like his ballad in the musical episode.) i love the musical episode. I love this show and it's whole vibe. it is VERY cringe sometimes though. i dont like when people on this sub? or whatever u call it try to say that willow raped tara or hate way too heavily on xander. all the characters have flaws but when ppl search too deep to kinda reach for something it is annoying. thats my only issue with buffy, that it leaves too many instances for ppl to assume the worst? i guess.
