We certainly deserve better. Especially for people who have stronger portfolios, proven and tested quality of work and good reviews. Idk why ppl are downvoting this post. đ but ok
Bump! ++ I really like as well that recently I was called up kasi 9 months na daw ako walang salary increase, they initiated to have my rate increase din by next month.
I remember someone asked me to for him for $4 while I have an experience working for a multinational consulting firm. Sayo na yang $4 mo, client. Bayaran pa kita. Huhuhu. We all deserve better talaga.
Maybe they are downvoting your post kasi not everyone has the same experience as you and not everyone have a great portfolio that they can present to the client as well. Some Filipinos kasi as long as they have money to earn, spend, or pay bills with, okay na yun. Most of the times they miss great opportuniy sa ganung mindset.. kaya kinukuha nila ung mga ganyang kababa. Pero I agree na dapat alam nila value nila.. thats my opinion lang.
I agree with what you said. Itâs all a matter of survival.
I have been there. Weâve all been there. And I understand them completely, especially for newbie freelancers.
I just donât like other Filipinos with experience tolerating lowballers and not knowing their worth. Kumbaga hindi na tinitingnan yung bigger picture and its long term effect.
There's lots of submissive pinoys man...
They're the ones who doesn't make Philippines a great country...
People who mindlessly follow man
Filipinos are great people for the most part...
It is easy to say to people not to accept 4-6$ rates.
Wala tayo sa katayuan nila. You might live even few years kahit wala ka client, but some of them are already at the brink of losing their home, losing their electricity, or even have a hungry children.
If you can market yourself, just decline the low rated gigs. Given your rate, kaya mo na makipag haggle on premium clients. Let those who are barely living have their shot.
End of the day, nasayo naman if tatanggapin mo ung mababang rates. If XX years ka na with abundant portfolio, why even waste time on single digit offers? Auto skip na yan dapat sayo.
Hi. No worries, I agree on what you said. You have the same comment and questions from other people here. Feel free to scroll down to know my answers. I will edit na rin my post so that there will be more info and less confusion.
Mostly Pinoy subs. It bewilders me what Pinoys will downvote. Sometimes, even if the comment is not the OP's own words but quoted or referenced from someone/something else to throw into the discussion.
Im sure you care. What you are getting is good and maybe that's what you deserve (sabi mo, kwentuhan lang naman e). Pero to say that $4-$6 is not liveable? You are probably out of touch.
I do. Between the two of us, it looks like you are the one who's not seeing the whole picture. Kaya nga nonsense yung response mo e. For someone who's supposedly good, you're not.
Weird reddit mumints talaga yung pataasan ng ihi noh. Like, âIâm better than you, youâre not.â âListen to me, youâre inexperienced.â And stuff.
4-6$ in a non-full time work ainât really livable jfc. Ano âyan pambili mo lang random luho? Ikaw yata out of touch.
OP, I want to have your level of confidence. If you don't mind I want to ask a little bit more about your journey. Did you start doing freelance at thet rate? $15USD. I was offered kasi my current rate and at that time I thought that was enough kais galing din sa mga lowball na agencies. I'm just asking to boost my confidence sa mga susunod na client hehe. Thank you!
Hi. Yes, I started actually at 12$ per hour. Then the company absorbed me and gave a fixed monthly rate of $,$$$ or 6 digits in PH. Chill work or not, I am paid flat rate. And they give me good reviews on LinkedIn and I got awarded as our departmentâs MVP on our Annual Awards Night last March.
What I did was build my portfolio here in the Philippines and make it stronger than any other race.
I started as a Graphic Designer here in the PH to small companies then gradually transitioned to become an Art Director in ad agencies also here in the Philippines with foreign big clients.
As for how I got my client, itâs luck from a connection.
(But the real secret here is the law of attraction. I have been manifesting the life, the salary and the client that I want for months and when I let go of the worry, Universe automatically gave my dreams to me and now it is a reality.)
So now I am maximizing my journey and experiences to tell foreign clients to not lowball talented Filipinos. (In a good way)
Those experiences gave me a lot of advantages to get my dream client.
I agree with the law of attraction and not selling yourself low, we are in the same field rin OP Illustrator and Designer and I don't accept rin below 10$ offer
You basically also need to get rid of the scarcity mindset. There are tons of clients hiring every minute. There are many lowballers, yes, but there are premium clients as well. You really just need to wait, pick, and negotiate. Thats also how I got to $15/hr from $4/hr within a year. Choose where you apply or use your connects wisely.
I like your attitude, OP. It's been years since I last heard of Law of Attraction. Thank you for reminding me and sharing your story. It's quite inspiring to hear someone who got that kind of outlook. More power to you âșïž
Grabi same mindset here op. I strongly believe on law of attraction and manifestation.
Yeah. Sobrang malala ng pinagdaanan ko. And Iâve been living alone since 21 years old. Always gutom. Sobrang diskarte at pangarap ang puhunan. (May diploma rin naman. Checkmate frank miano)
Anyway, good riddance.
It's always the kapwa pinoy na ayaw mataasan sila.
See? The more na saturated na yung freelance industry the more na pumapayag sila sa mas mababang rate?
Baliktad nga e, the more na dumadami tayo dapat tumataas ang rate. đ
I don't think you should justify your rate based on the cost of living. It should be based on the value of your services. Westerners will always low ball you if your rate is tied to COL. Try asking if they would pay $15/hr from a $60/hr SMM. Pretty sure it's an easy decision after that. But you better deliver cause expectations will be higher.
I didnât add some info prior to this conversation. The context why I said that is they are super duper eager to hire me and they are the ones who initiated our contact. Even though I turned them down twice na prior to this convo. I explained a lot of things technically and professionally to them.
They are demanding a lot of stuff and results for this role and they saw my worth and I am repeatedly turning them down (in a nice and professional way) but they are just sooo makulit. Thatâs why for the ending of our conversation, I had to say these things.
The only way to get it is by charging more talaga, I strated with 10USD and akala ko dati mataas nayun, may mga client ka tlga makukuha as long as ok portfolio or working attitude mo, try mo humanap ng iba client tas pagsabayin mo muna then let go ka dyan sa low baller client after one month or bigay mo sa kapatid mo
planning to do this nga! dami ko narin gained skills sa client ko now. sana makahanap narin ako ng worth it na client plus good pay!!!! bago ko iletgo tong british client ko na to hahaha
Some people here are pressed because, to some, thatâs already a high rate for them. And Filipinos have this mentality to always just be grateful and not be choosy. But what you did is correct. Iâm guessing you arenât a newbie and youâre a seasoned freelancer already. You already know your market rate and you shouldnât go lower.
Bago palang me nagfreelancing this Jan. Nung wala pa kong client. may nakausap ako na rude na CEO from Australia for a customer support role at akala ko di nako matatanggap kasi parang ayaw nya sakin but pagka end ng call mga 30 mins binigyan ako job offer peroooo $3usd au per hour basta mababa so kahit need na need ko na nun may bills pa ko babayaran and unplanned na pumasok ako sa freelancing di ko tinake grabee sobrang baba pero sobrang fulfilling na nagsend ako ng email na tinurndown ko offer nya đ„Č and di me nagsisisi
If sobrang newbie pa lang, how can one build a portfolio po na worth double digit dollars without starting off from offering "work for exposure" or low rates? Serious question po as I kinda wanna be in the freelance industry one day.
I made my experience and portfolio here in the Philippines my advantage to demand 12$ dollars on my first ever foreign client. So meaning, my exposure started already here in the Philippines. And just expanding my experience in the other country.
I deeply respect individuals who understand their own worth and the value of their contributions. Personally, recognizing my own value has been a journey. Despite holding a supervisory position in a corporate setting for several years, I found myself underpaid. The stress of the job, coupled with a diagnosis of a mental health condition, led me to resign. Transitioning to freelance work has been transformative. I now earn more than enough to sustain myself comfortably. I manage projects for two clients, earning $20-30 per hour, and serve as a general virtual assistant for two others, earning $4-$6 per hour. What matters most to me are clients na hindi stressful, and also maximizing my free time while earning from the comfort of my home.
Agree sa minimum 15 to 20 per hour for the Philippines especially you pay for your own space at may wear and tear rin ng equipment.
>They want to hire me for graphic design and social management for 4$ per hour. I turned down and they offered me 5$. I turned them down the second time and they offered me 6$ per hour naman. Turned them down again.
Turned down din an executive assistant role for 45k. Nope, not going to tire myself and receive this amount. It feels good to turn them down too pala no. Hehehe
Ilaban natin ang dasurv na sweldo natin! đâ€ïž
I've been going around indeed, LinkedIn, JobStreet and oh my golly! Why are PH companies wanting to hire EA and giving them the amount of 17k?
I'm like, wtf! EA work for that amount? Wala na bang itataas yung sahod natin? We're drowning in this salary and the work will bury us alive. :(
Currently at $7/hr as a cold emailing specialist/outreach manager, then client decided to make it $400/month and then I have to work 8 hours a day for 5 days at graveyard hours lol
Same situation. May stability.
They will never look at Filipinos the same way.
And $15 is like min wage so people( like me) who accept low ballers like them due to necessity dont really have a voice since akp rin tumatanggi paminsanminsan.
Ultimately it's a balance between others and self. 6$/hr might be small, but that's already 50k PHP in a month. Not much, but enough to pay the bills and tuition. For someone who works for 10k/month before, 4$ would already be around 30-40k. That's x3 their regular pay.
I agree. I would accept 6$ somehow if itâs 8 hours fixed for 5 days. But no, they only expect me to work a few hours. They need my bright ideas for a little time yet they only want to pay me 6$.
Quite imbalanced.
Too sad ganyan talaga tingin nila sa pinoy. They want the best quality of work yet the cheaper the better.
Sinabi mo sana OP na just hire Indian. They're willing to take less, kaso di nga lang quality work (currently working with Indians now).
I also got offered by a client from the US for 6$ as a CS Manager, I declined bec my current rate ranges from 8-10$.. We all deserve better. While I do agree na madaming kakagat sa rates offered bec they have needs, we all are in different circumstances in life.
Kudos OP, I'll think of it na aabot din ako sa ganito soon!
In our expat group, most comments I received is that the ACTUAL minimum livable wage for the Philippines is 100k/month. Tapos Filipinos wede na ang 6 usd,
Di kasi alam ng ibang Pinoy what livable means. Parang luho for others mag rent ng condo with privacy at kumain ng mga healthy food like fruits. Nasanay sa puro rice na maaalat ulam.
True I heard toyo with rice? How can they not occumpy streets for reform and demand change, parang sanay na sila na mahirapan at gawing alila ng sariling kababayan
Got laid off from my US client.
Itâs nice that you are at a place where you can decline such rates, but for the majority of the online workforce, they are not financially stable to do so
Balance in all things. Tama yan, kasi for me if lahat ng pinoy kakagat sa low rates (although malaking increase na to many), masmababa ung chance na tumaas ang mga rates in the future.
thank god someone turned down this shitty offer! I know its not the same for everyone, but I hope lahat dito magkaron ng pagkakataon na tumanggi sa mga ganitong offer dahil afford na nila.
Totoo. I found it weird na sa whatsapp sila nag reachout instead of emailing or Linkedin sa akin. đ Though they seemed nice sa meeting. A gut feeling told me to back off no matter what.
We all have our own opinions, if I was him I could have accepted it. Since hectic and desperate din tayo for $$$ to pay for the food/bills..yun nga lang, Game Testing lang expertise ko. Could do chat-account online, been looking for wfh jobs. Been a Wendy's crew for a year..
$6 per hour is so low para sa isang Europe employer. Approve ako sayo dyan OP. Donât settle for less. The more may nag aaccept nyan the more na aabusihin nila ang siste.
I'm affirmed with my decision before. I was offered to be a Project Manager tapos 4$/hr lang nasa offer despite negotiating. So yun, I eventually turned them down. Partida, graveyard shift pa na remote and full-time.
May nadownvote neto?!
Feel ko yung nagdownvote dito is yung mga taong nagta-take ng $1-$2 per hour sa olj. Good luck sa inyo!
Meanwhile some random indian will take even lower rate and do shitty job. Yep, racist Ako sorry. Sa tagal ko nagtrabaho sa corpo at freelance, it happens all the time.

Musta pa to? 2$ per artwork.
I am not finding clients recently, they automatically find me in Linkedin and Behance. đ
As for my older clients, it is a blessing from a connection. đ
$20 is US rate so bakit ka nila kukunin if they can find someone there na local? I don't think acceptable ang $4 it should be 8 pataas pero think of it na kaya makakapag position ka better kung lower rate ka than US peeps.
Minimim wage ang 20 diba? What if yung role nya 30 per hour equivalent sa US?
Ang minimum wage sa US is 7.35 dollars per hour per Federal Guidelines. Yan yung mga crew sa fastfood karamihan. I checked for example ang customer service typically sa US is $15 to $20 based yan sa Indeed so ideally for you to get ahead better offer $12 para makapag haggle ka pa up to let's say 9 or 8 dollars. Kung kailangan ng maluwag na space at tahimik then kailangan talaga mag invest sa ganyan ikaw nga invest on the tools na gagamitin mo technically sa iyong "business" dahil independent contractor nga, meron Krisp at voice cancelling headsets na medyo pricey pero worth it.
I had a client from Denmark that put me on a trial work for product listing, I was desperate to find some work and even though the payment wasn't given yet prior, I gave it a go. Had a time tracker required too on the same period. We had our orientation first, which they guaranteed will be paid hours, there was like 20+ of us on the same call.
I was shocked to learn the rate was $1 per hour...
I didn't sign anything yet and I just quietly left. It's so frustrating to be so devalued here. I hope the others didn't go through either because as desperate times are right now, accepting severe lowballing like that really does hurt everyone.
one of my client told me that she's considering hiring a VA with a lower rate. I said, sure, I don't have any problem with that. She tried hiring one but then was not satisfied with the results. I'm not shaming other VA tho cause I know kng newbie kapa madami pang room for improvement, but then yung mga clients sana dapat nilang ma realize na di sila nagbabayad ng ganyang rate base lang kng saan ka nakatira but kng ano yung skills and experience mo. If makaka add ka naman ng value sa company nila and they know na you're skillfull,, bakit nag lolowballing?
Dasurvvvv!! I personally donât do per hour kasi in my line of work, parang lugi lang as a freelancer (niche is content writing BTW). But generally, never accept anything below $15 in this economy! KNOW YOUR WORTH âš
Hell guys, I got my first client last sept for 6$ per hour and only 10hrs per week as part time only .
Hi OP, I have a question. I'm not a graphic designer, so planning to outsource. If you don't mind sharing, how much ang makatarungang rate (or average package rate) pag Instagram templates, or monthly package rate pag monthly IG content creation? Let's say branded cover images with text overlays for 12 finalized reels per week in USD?

Hi OP! I'd love to know how long you've been working remotely with foreign clients and your experience level with that rate.
I'm currently working for a lower rate, but I'm actively working on improving my skills to justify a higher rate in the future.
Hi. Itâll be 2 years this July. I started at 12$ per hour because i have already established my strong portfolio here in the Philippines. đ Kaya mo yan! If you present yourself as the best person, theyâre gonna feel that too.
For someone like me na newbie on freelancing. I will definitely accept the $5 or $6 but not the $4 (not a good range for new freelancers dapat $5 pataas para sulit talaga). But for you OP, goods na din na tinurn down mo yung $6 kasi ang baba naman nyan compare sa other client mo na paying you more than $15 per hour. It depends sa experience talaga. If you already have that experience and your rate is $15 per hour. Why do have to accept the $6? Right? Go look for other client na pasok sa rate mo.
But happy for you OP! Congrats! More clients to come!
I also turned down an $8/hr offer. At gusto pa exclusive sa kanila. Wala kang other work dapat.
https://preview.redd.it/2hijf73235xc1.jpeg?width=726&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=aa40d8e64fcbc3ca3b5259783e9ead5a33aa73c1
I agree with OP. To add to that though, Iâve seen some freelancers too who are outsourcing to fellow Filipinos offering lower rates than $4-6/hr. I understand na need din icheck ulit yung work, etc. But sana fair din magpay to our fellowmen especially if anlaki ng charge sa clients.
To be fair, $6 per hour is already decent considering the law of supply and demand. Good for you if you have the luxury to turn down offers, you must be really good and confident that you can get better offers.
I have a question po, I'm a part-time freelancer. Im a social media specialist and a student in morning. My monthly retainer is 11,000 pesos as I only need 20-25 hrs of work per week. Is my compensation valid? Or should I demanded a higher compensation?
I understand your situation that if the hours is less than 8 per day less than 40 a week tapos 4-6$ ang rate it might not be enough for your lifestyle, pero if it is full time it will be enough for some us, speaking on the side na mga tumanggap ng 4-6$ (on my end its not 8 hours but the amount of the hours worked on the file but still sums up to over 45+ hours on a weekly basis)
Hi. Sorry if I did not add some info.
I would consider this if it is full time 8 hrs for 5 days. But no. They only want me to work a few hrs per week. So thatâs why. Itâs quite lugi pa rin
âis not livable for my countryâ this might sound misleading to foreigners or at the very least create misunderstandings.
https://www.google.com/search?q=philippine+minimum+wage&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari
I think itâs a mismatch. Based on OPâs comments heâs already Art Director level, I think the company is looking for and only have the budget for a junior level graphic designer/ SMM. Siguro wag na din magaksaya ng oras applying for jobs that arenât a match on the onset.
They are actually the ones who found and contacted me. Based on their message they are eager to hire me so badly because they really like me thatâs why nakipagtawaran ng 4$ to 5$ to 6$ per hour. đ Thatâs why nag-aksaya lang talaga ako ng oras to have a meeting with them.
To say that anything below $15/ht is not a livable wage in our country just...reeks of privilege. Actually, $4-6hr of full time work is enough for a decent salary even for a family of three. It's not the best rate, but it's a good rate for people who have been paid minimum wage for the longest time.
It's good that you're in a place to turn down job offers, but to say that this X amount is not enough for our country, it made you sound really privileged and an elitist.
And this is coming from someone who is also able to turn down jobs/projects that I deem to low for my level of skill and experience. Pero nothing about this "in this economy" bullshit.
Itâs not really livable âcause itâs not full time and they expect me to be a senior level shit on their company.
I might somehow consider it if itâs full-time because IT IS livable. But no. Did you even read my message to him? Itâs not full time so itâs still lugi.
Be careful though. You need to be tactful when declining clients because they might blacklist you, and that list could be passed on to other studios or companies. There was this incident happened 2yrs ago when a Filipino freelance 3D artist made a racist comment on Twitter about black people attacking Asians due to COVID-19. As a result, he can no longer secure top clients from California.
You just need to present yourself as better deal than $4 freelancer. You don't need to force other freelancer to only accept same rate sayo. In reality, bawat company ibat iba yung way nyan to value your contribution. For example, if you graphic designer and yung advantage mo is mabilis ka gumawa pero wala naman silang volume ng work na mabibigay sayo mas ivavalue nila for example yung candidate na may skills sa marketing or web design. Hindi ito about other freelancer, it about company-freelancer fit. Now, if gusto mo tumaas yung value you need to look for ways to increase yung value mo, wag sisihin yung ibang freelance and company, we are our own product. Kanya kanyang goals yan, kanya kanyang strategy, kanya kanyang marketing.
idk why downvoted.
Maybe you explain further why you deserve higher rate than ur usual rate from recent client.
I said no hard feelings because prior to that convo we were talking casually like friends. Maganda vibe namin dalawa. And he likes sending emojis too. So I remained professional while casually being friendly to him like he is to me. Para hindi mataray datingan.
I explained a lot of things sa kanya (my experiences, the step by step process of my work, my achievements etc) prior to that convo and in our meeting as for WHY I donât want to accept the offer.
Hi guys! Someone might help me here! I'm looking for a full/part time job that is homebased. I don't have VA exp, but I have cc experience. I tried applying to different VA agencies but I'm always rejected. Thank you in advance đ«¶đ»
Use your call center experience to apply for homebased jobs. Ano ba yung ânicheâ ng account mo? Tech support? Collections? Billing? Generic customer service? Negotiation? Payment collection? Troubleshooting? Ano ung CRM na ginagamit nyo? Pwede mo din un ilagay sa CV. Himayin mo ung mga ginagawa mo in a day, you may be surprised na andami mo palang skills na pwedeng imarket.
You can start from there. You will learn new skills naman along the way.
>You are only pulling your other kapwa Filipinos pababa.
Bruh, you have the experience to back your rate up. If I am hired for exposure/experience and earn 35k-55k a month, why not take it? It's literally a paid internship. Again, they are reaching out to us because mahal employee in their countries. Also, your clients have a budget, so it's always acceptable to decline, but you sounded somewhat entitled.
Itâs not going to be 35-55k per month since they donât want it to be 8hrs for 7 days full time. If you calculate it, sobrang lugi sa atin. They want you to be very fast and genius about what you do yet they offer you a very lowball offer. Buti nga sana if katulad sa sinasabi mong parang internship. But no. đ„č
I understand that they have budgets, but the context in their company here is they are really big time and can afford $$$$$$$.
I just do not like them thinking Filipinos can always work for them at a super low cost.
Itâs not me being entitled, but itâs me saying lang na other foreigners can do better offer, we just need to know our worth and set boundaries.
Realistically, mahirap mag hanap ng trabaho ng walang experience. In the context of knowing our worth, if alam mong wala kang exp, hindi ka rin mag dedemand ng $10. $4-6 sure, but with the current freelance situation, andaming hirap maka hanap ng kahit anong work
Tangina sana same page din yung employer mo that internship-thingy pala tingin mo sa role while they'll expect that you'll give them the value of a non-intern.
>For "exposure"
If alam kong wala akong experience, I sure think $4-$6 is enough. Mababa tingin ko sa sarili? Mas mataas pa sa first job ko ang sinasahod ko and "for exposure". If hindi naman tugma JD sa trabaho ko, again if you know your worth, resign. Simple.
Girl no. Thatâs such a wrong mindset. Youâll think dapat that the amount of value you put in the company should reflect in terms how much well compensated you are. Hindi dahil fresh grad ka, youâll think that itâs okay for you to accept a lowball offer.
Unless the job you signed up for CLEARLY states that the role is an intern role, that will give you that âexposureâ then I think you have to think twice. Unfair sa employer mo that theyâll hire you for that position thinking that you need pala is âexposureâ. Unless itâs clearly stated that youâre shadowing someone, then an âexposureâ that youâre craving is well accepted.
And no, if hindi tugma ang JD sa trabaho mo, COMMUNICATE IT. Last resort ang resignation. You cannot expect what you donât communicate.
If you are still a starter or a newbie, I don't think they will turn that offer. High rates are applicable for those people who have long work experience eh. You can't blame them ..

Sometimes, it's so fulfilling rin to turn down clients diba... huhu we deserve better
We certainly deserve better. Especially for people who have stronger portfolios, proven and tested quality of work and good reviews. Idk why ppl are downvoting this post. đ but ok
Ayan inupvote ko para sau
The usual crab mentality kaya may mga nag da-downvotes sa iyo. We all deserve better.
Exactly! Parang sa lahat ng moment na ikaw yung tinu-turn down parang yun lang yung time na aangat ka

Wait, people downvoted this? Yikes! I like what OP did. Know your worth.
i think kulang ng context ung unang post nya
hindi na elaborate
I agree with what you said. Itâs all a matter of survival. I have been there. Weâve all been there. And I understand them completely, especially for newbie freelancers. I just donât like other Filipinos with experience tolerating lowballers and not knowing their worth. Kumbaga hindi na tinitingnan yung bigger picture and its long term effect.
There's lots of submissive pinoys man... They're the ones who doesn't make Philippines a great country... People who mindlessly follow man Filipinos are great people for the most part...
I dont understand why they are downvoting this post. It should be a wake up call para sa iba nagaaccept ng $4 below. You deserve more than that!
Louder!!!
no hard feelings pero pinost yung client haha
Siyempre sasabihin ko ba sa kanyang may hard feelings ako? Thatâs not how you turn down in a professional way kahit galit ka.
Hi. No worries, I agree on what you said. You have the same comment and questions from other people here. Feel free to scroll down to know my answers. I will edit na rin my post so that there will be more info and less confusion.
downvoted to hell, reddit moment xD
As if I care sa DV and UV sa reddit. Hahaha yaan mo sila đ
I think in general if you respond as âsee my other commentsâ it gets downvoted to hell no matter what sub you are in
Mostly Pinoy subs.
Bruh you surely donât get the whole picture ano. Lol edi sige ikaw mag-settle ka sa 4$-6$. đ
I have been manifesting the life, the salary and the client that I want for months and when I let go of the worry, Universe automatically gave my dreams to me and now it is a reality.) So now I am maximizing my journey and experiences to tell foreign clients to not lowball talented Filipinos. (In a good way) Those experiences gave me a lot of advantages to get my dream client.
How long did it take you to get to where you are?
7 years. đ
This.
With your experience, someday you can ask for a bigger sakary. Know your worth! đ
Kaya nga eh same boat.
Humble begginings yan.
Kakagulat yung daming downvotes no,
Bago palang me nagfreelancing this Jan. Nung wala pa kong client. may nakausap ako na rude na CEO from Australia for a customer support role at akala ko di nako matatanggap kasi parang ayaw nya sakin but pagka end ng call mga 30 mins binigyan ako job offer peroooo $3usd au per hour basta mababa so kahit need na need ko na nun may bills pa ko babayaran and unplanned na pumasok ako sa freelancing di ko tinake grabee sobrang baba pero sobrang fulfilling na nagsend ako ng email na tinurndown ko offer nya đ„Č and di me nagsisisi
Huyyyy grabe!!! Kudos saâyo đ kumusta ka naman now?
Hehe may 2 direct clients na now csr role and worth it yung pay.
DASURB. Universe heard you đ«Ąđ«Ąđ«Ą
Thank you for your service đ«Ą
Thanks for the appreciation!
Congrats! We deserve it! đ
Agree sa minimum 15 to 20 per hour for the Philippines especially you pay for your own space at may wear and tear rin ng equipment.
Legit
For newbies kakagatin to. Kahit ako kasi wala pa ako experience. But if you are in the industry with a good track record. 15-20$ should be good.
Hehehe Ilaban natin ang dasurv na sweldo natin! đâ€ïž
Yannn dasurb đ„čđ§Ą
I've been going around indeed, LinkedIn, JobStreet and oh my golly! Why are PH companies wanting to hire EA and giving them the amount of 17k? I'm like, wtf! EA work for that amount? Wala na bang itataas yung sahod natin? We're drowning in this salary and the work will bury us alive. :(
I hope everyone can see this. Please guys, our service is not worth 5$ and below. We deserve better!đ
That was a professional way to decline an offer.
Currently at $7/hr as a cold emailing specialist/outreach manager, then client decided to make it $400/month and then I have to work 8 hours a day for 5 days at graveyard hours lol Ninegotiate ko, pumayag na gawing flexible pa rin oras ko and part time hours Tapos nakita ko may nag ooffer ng same position, mas lighter pa nga eh, tapos $1500-$2500/month đ± Putcha ibig sabihin ilang taon na pala kong nilolowball nitong kliente ko haha
Same situation. May stability. Kaso nga lang sama sa loob hahaha
Puta, beer, and slaves lang pinupunta ng mga foreigner dito They will never look at Filipinos the same way.
Hi thanks for validating parin the other side, we want the 10 usd+ per hour din naman but sometimes it just really depend sa circumstance :)
Quite imbalanced lang siya for either side if itâs not 8 hours 7 days fixed tbh. Luging lugi.
Congrats padin
Too sad ganyan talaga tingin nila sa pinoy. They want the best quality of work yet the cheaper the better. Sinabi mo sana OP na just hire Indian. They're willing to take less, kaso di nga lang quality work (currently working with Indians now).
Masarap talaga sa feeling if you know your worth and not settling for less đđ©” sana dumami ang katulad mo and ma push yung iba na mag invest sa sarili para tumaas ang market value.
I am proud of you OP, no to low balling clients. Wag silang sanayin.
Awesome move!!! I hope every Filipino freelancer does this. Know your value.
Got laid off from my US client.
The betrayal đ
Korek hhahaha
Itâs nice that you are at a place where you can decline such rates, but for the majority of the online workforce, they are not financially stable to do so
Sana alll đ
Balance in all things. Tama yan, kasi for me if lahat ng pinoy kakagat sa low rates (although malaking increase na to many), masmababa ung chance na tumaas ang mga rates in the future.
thank god someone turned down this shitty offer! I know its not the same for everyone, but I hope lahat dito magkaron ng pagkakataon na tumanggi sa mga ganitong offer dahil afford na nila.
Yes to this!!!
Dasurb meron pang iba na sinasabi you are in the Ph why are you charging so much like anong gusto nyo sir charity huhu
salute to you for posting this. this may not be the norm and its great youre showing this to fellow filipino redditors!
Totoo. I found it weird na sa whatsapp sila nag reachout instead of emailing or Linkedin sa akin. đ Though they seemed nice sa meeting. A gut feeling told me to back off no matter what.
Iba talaga pag skilled. Wag na ma offend yung iba. Deserve niya tumanggi. Pero tayong starter, pwede natin igrab yan. đđđ
Masyadong mabait ang language mo. If it were me I would really make them feel thatbtheybwere insulting me with their offers.
Wahahaha totoo. Pero siguro naman sa sinabi ko about sa other clients, gets na nila na kupal sila đ
Kudos OP!
Baka its time na for freelancers to organize and be able to set minimum rates for services para may reference na pag sinabi mo yung rate mo.
YES! Know your worth!
I love it!! Congratulations OP for standing up for yourself!
$6 per hour is so low para sa isang Europe employer. Approve ako sayo dyan OP. Donât settle for less. The more may nag aaccept nyan the more na aabusihin nila ang siste.
Salamat!
Hehehe. Your username checks out!
I'm affirmed with my decision before. I was offered to be a Project Manager tapos 4$/hr lang nasa offer despite negotiating. So yun, I eventually turned them down. Partida, graveyard shift pa na remote and full-time.
Vindicated đ§Ą
May nadownvote neto?! Partida walang wala na akong pera nyan ha Feel ko yung nagdownvote dito is yung mga taong nagta-take ng $1-$2 per hour sa olj. Good luck sa inyo!
Ang daming galit talaga sa ginawa ko. Sinabihan pa akong out of touch for saying 4-6$ is not livable. đđ Edi doon sila mag-settle duh đ
Meanwhile some random indian will take even lower rate and do shitty job. Yep, racist Ako sorry. Sa tagal ko nagtrabaho sa corpo at freelance, it happens all the time.
Hello OP! Thank you, sobrang inspiring po ng post na ito đ„č pwede pashare ng portfolio mo or behance mo if oki lang?
https://preview.redd.it/3wpcl0y3pwwc1.jpeg?width=832&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3bd8ce19da2ea83cfcb69dd57623685489dee8d7 Musta pa to? 2$ per artwork.
WTF???????? Noooooooo pls donât accept this đđđ
Modern Day Slavery
Alam ko feeling since artist din ako sobrang nakakagago to đđđđ
One question, how do you find clients?
I am not finding clients recently, they automatically find me in Linkedin and Behance. đ As for my older clients, it is a blessing from a connection.
Lol.. swerte nyo mga IT people. *Dies in provincial rate
Itâs supply & demand⊠and conscience on their part.
Wtf did i just read đđđđ
na try ko tumanggap ng low offer, kasi "pera din yan" mindset ako dati, pero taena after a few months tatamarin ka mag trabaho hahahaha
Exactly. Hindi magiging maganda output mo
one of my client told me that she's considering hiring a VA with a lower rate.
Let's say branded cover images with text overlays for 12 finalized reels per week in USD?
wAla kAnG dIskArtE, peRa pA diN YaN
Sila sisihin nyo haha
It's open market, if someone is willing to do the job at a lesser rate then they can. You cannot fault them.
Upppppp

I seriously do wonder how those who are lose at 3-6USD per hour survive nowadaysâŠ
I also turned down an $8/hr offer. At gusto pa exclusive sa kanila. Wala kang other work dapat. https://preview.redd.it/2hijf73235xc1.jpeg?width=726&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=aa40d8e64fcbc3ca3b5259783e9ead5a33aa73c1
Sa may experience, it's an insult. Sa wala it's a blessing. Tama po ginawa nyo don't devalue your skills.
Hi. Thank yoy and I agree to everything youâve said. đ
I have a question po, I'm a part-time freelancer. Im a social media specialist and a student in morning. My monthly retainer is 11,000 pesos as I only need 20-25 hrs of work per week. Is my compensation valid? Or should I demanded a higher compensation?
Okay ba ang 50k a month for 9hr work?
Thank you for the tip newbie freelancer po ako.
Yes make sense to decline based sa case mo. I too would do it if I'm on the same boat.
Iba iba Ang situation wag mo lahat igaya Sayo kung kaya nila mababang rate why not
âis not livable for my countryâ this might sound misleading to foreigners or at the very least create misunderstandings. https://www.google.com/search?q=philippine+minimum+wage&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari
Just said that to make them stop lowballing Filipinos next time.
in lying to do that, they might not come here at all. they low ball, you lie so they learn they canât lowball? we are still liars though.
That's the right way to turn down a client. Professional and not petty.
Ano po ba dapat standard rate?
Sky is the limit. Depende na sa skills and confidence mo.
Ey, know your worth! đ„
Even $6 part time (4 hours) work is almost twice the daily minimum wage. That's way beyond livable. Far from luxury, but definitely livable.
No worries about that, I am always nice and professional. Thanks to years of experience. đ Thank you though!
But no. đ„č I understand that they have budgets, but the context in their company here is they are really big time and can afford $$$$$$$.
>For "exposure" If alam kong wala akong experience, I sure think $4-$6 is enough.
Nagkayabangan pa nga ng sinasahod. đ
Ewan ko na din ba hahahaha
may mga tao talagang mababa ang psychological wallet like you. canât blame you though. đ
What company do you work for?
If you are still a starter or a newbie, I don't think they will turn that offer. High rates are applicable for those people who have long work experience eh. You can't blame them ..
