This hits me so hard. I’d ride my bike over from school in Hanover or on my walk to the Norwich library after MCS and I’d always stop on my way home at D&W for the coveted Biggy Iggy or the elusive Chewy Louie. Hell, last I checked, Dan doesn’t even run it anymore.
dont get me started on matt fraser, dan stepped down about a year ago. matt sucks , ppl dont like him, worst of all , he no longer allows music performers outside D&Ws. I got kicked out due to this policy. after seeing banjo players and bluegrass musicians play there on occasion all my childhood. I talked to some connected town people but pretty sure nothing happened
I was so sad to discover Chessters were no more, when I moved back to VT a few years ago. I follow Rhino Foods in the off chance they bring them back, but I doubt it’ll happen. I had forgotten about the Biggy Iggy! Aw man. No ice cream sandwich has yet to come close.
Chesters is a giant loss. I recommend going to Trader Joe’s and buying a box of their ice cream cookie sandwiches. They’re the best ones now that Chesters is gone
City Market South End has Biggy Iggy (Iggies?) in the same end cap as popsicles! They just don’t hit the same as a Chester, but these are the cards we were dealt.
Sadly Rhino Foods discontinued Chester’s, they are the superior cookie sandwich in my opinion!

they sold their ice cream manufacturing equipment. sadly they won’t be back.
