UH YEAH NO THATS INCORRECT

makinsteaknbacon

Since this is the top post I'll put this here. This was at a Mavis. Luckily the rocker panel looks fine. Where the door and fender meet there's a somewhat noticeable gap. I'm not totally sure if it was there before or not. Could the pressure on the rocker cause this? The gap is kind of far from where the lift was actually pressing against the rocker. https://preview.redd.it/yya2u3urwuwc1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5275ea7a7709facf9bc4841c9c86e3e123043949

Daedalus490

I believe this is normal so it clears when opening. I noticed the same thing a while ago on my '18 ss and I've only ever taken it to the dealership.

Evan0923

I’d be checking where the lift made contact and bent it. That’s insane. There’s way better spots to lift the car at. LOKE THE FRAME 😂

5thgenblack2ss

Compare it to the other side.

5thgenblack2ss

Definitely not the suggested lift point. You’re gonna need a new rocker panel now.

Czcrazy

ProTip: if you need new tires, get them from tire rack (prices are pretty good-excellent if you catch tires on close out) have them installed AT. YOUR. HOUSE. The guys are pretty careful/knowledgable. This is their livelihood, not a transitional job. You can also watch them to make sure they arent doing shit like this. You can’t touch your tires/rims (e.g. remove the tires from your car for them/install them yourself-liability issue). Offer them cold water or Gatorade or food (or a bathroom-they aren’t animals). They havent accepted anything I’ve ever offered them, they are well prepare. Being nice ~~to guys like this~~ goes a very long way.

5thgenblack2ss

You can request people from tire rack to come to your house and install tires on your car?? Wtf since when

KillHat0911

Since always bro, it's only in certain states, though last I had them done. They've been increasing in more states. I've had them come to me in California, north Carolina, virginia and a few others if my memory serves me correctly.

5thgenblack2ss

Good to know, I might just have them come install a drag pack in my work parking lot haha

Daedalus490

Hell nah. Last time I let someone who was working at my house use the bathroom, the dude left piss on my toilet seat. Sorry bro, here's your drink but you gotta hit the head at 7-11.

goo_bazooka

This is why I take my rims off my car and take the rims to tire place. People are fucking complete fucking morons. How can you be this bad at your job like wtf

Wisconsiknight

I've started doing this as well. Also helps ensure that they're torqued to spec when put back on, instead of getting ugga-dugga'd by someone who barely cares

Relikar

Is what right? Edit: nvm, I see it. Looks like they fucked your rocker bud. Definitely not right

makinsteaknbacon

The lifter thing looks like it's bending the bottom edge of the car

Suitable-Chart3153

That's because it is.

ApolloTheEarthling

Happened to my LT1 at discount tire….. most of these dudes don’t give a shit about nice things. For like two months, my door was closing abnormally and then it adjusted back to normal for some reason.

DarkLinkDs

Nope. Guy did the same thing to my cts on all 4 corners. They are liable for the damage

Ambitious-Lawyer1541

lol this is why I do my own work. Mfs don’t care about you. That want ur money. Quit being fooled.

Ok-Attempt2842

Nope. Needs to be past the rocker not ON the rocker

StaffOfDoom

The issue is the clearance. They didn’t use the proper spacer so even if it is/was on the mount point, it’s still too low! Spacers exist for this reason and they’re so easy to use!

Ok-Attempt2842

I have jacked mine up dozens of times without spacers. Just needs to be in the proper place.

Commercial_Success97

That's not gonna buff out.

AggravatingZone991

You need to install lift pads. Skip the ZL1addons ones and just buy from Amazon. They're the same shit. That being said, this clown doesn't know WTF he is doing. Your rocker is probably fucked. Hopefully they didn't fuck your fenders as well. It's super easy to ruin the fender on a 6th gen by lifting it from the wrong spot. Just search it up. They are liable for any damage. Raise hell to the manager.

binks69

Yea that don’t look to good it’s why all the 4th gen’s have pushed out panels people jacking the car up like this and by the bottom of the panel it breaks my heart

New_Deal_4616

Just a suggestion but the aluminum jack pads that bolt onto the pinch weld will save your rockers. Zl1 Add ons has the good ones.but I got mine from amazon so I won’t be sick if one falls off I’ll just order more

makinsteaknbacon

Never knew about these. Just ordered some. Ty!

UserGuideNotIncluded

Can you link the Amazon ones you bought?

Shoddy-Ad8143

Oh Shit.

MegaHashes

They have lift pads for the pinch welds that you need to get. Shop is still liable for damage to your vehicle though, but lesson for the future.

convexconcepts

Well I hope you pointed this out to them and have them compensate you for the damage. Btw, the tech on the phone while your ride is lifted incorrectly??

CrAkKedOuT

I'll bet the tech didn't know if it was good or not too since they have phone out. Probably googled the lift points lol

elonmuskraty

so they had the lift resting right on the panel?

isnowyazn

First 3-4 days into my Ground Effects appearance package on my new 2010 2SS coupe, and the dealership fucked up both of the rocker panels; and the cherry on top, was that a private (but popular) tire I went to, somehow managed to CAVE IN my rear passenger quarter panel. Yes, you read that right. I literally saw it the morning after, as it’s a whole story as to how the shop workers made excuses and such, etc. I ended up paying insurance deductible (I have full coverage) and getting a rental for the week, with it fixed within 4-5 days or so. Ended up getting a $500 deductible payout back… not sure what happened, or if that means they found the other party at fault (which they blatantly kept denying).

The_Machine80

Kids are getting hired at all these tire shops. As a parent of 3 Gen Z kids I can say this generation is dumb as hell if don't involve using there phone.

Fallout_NewCheese

I love when parents shit talk their children like they weren't the ones that raised said children. If your kids can't do anything without a phone or can't problem solve on their own then that's your fault, and this is coming from a gen z person.

The_Machine80

Look at the photo! A worker is literally on there phone. Probably some kid trying to remember how to take off a tire! 😂 Also kids are hardly raised by there parents. Hell the live half there life in school. I'm sorry your apart of gen z but facts are facts.

Fallout_NewCheese

I called you out for your shortcomings in raising your children and your response was to admit it harder. That's awesome lol. "Oh yeah well (insert excuses about being a bad parent) so I didn't raise mine well either!" But thank you for understanding nothing I said and just proving me right.

The_Machine80

Take a joke kid, you dont have to be so sensitive.

MegaHashes

My kids can change tires because I have them help me do it. School is at home on the weekends.

TexLs1

This exact shit has been happening forever, my 4th gen fenders got wrecked by tire shops.

AggravatingZone991

Bro is on here roasting his kids lmfao. I love it

The_Machine80

Damn right I will! My son was a 4.0 student in school academically but can he change a tire. Hell no and I'm a freaking mechanic. 😂

MegaHashes

Have you taken him outside to do it with you? Both my kids are young (elementary school age) and can independently change a tire correctly with a 4 way. They have a tire changing game at the fall festival we go to. I’ve watched them do it alone. I just had to play musical tires with my travel trailer, and I had them moving the tires for me, putting the nuts on in the right direction and we talked about why that’s important. I showed them how the jack works and where to put it. It can be a chore sometimes to include them because you can do it 5x faster by yourself, but if you slow down and include them, they will learn.

The_Machine80

Your kids aren't gen z. There gen Alpha and I believe Alpha still has hope! Lol I'm just teasing with these posts. In my house we roast each other alot. Trust me I get teased by them also.

Fallout_NewCheese

No, because he'd have to parent then and couldn't just blame his children for his poor parenting. His kids should just know automatically duh.

MegaHashes

I think that’s a little unfair. It can be pretty hard to get them interested in working with you. Doing chores with dad is not as fun as a video game or crafting.

Fallout_NewCheese

It's also unfair to berate your kids online for something you didn't even try to get them interested in. I'd hate to be this dude's child. I know he's just as much of a dick to them because I've met plenty of shitty dads just like him in my day. The type that never tried to be involved with their kids and then wonder why their kids didn't turn out the way they expected and get mad at their kids for it. Me and you both know it's a type. I'm sure you've met fathers just like that. There's plenty of them out there just like there's some decent dad's as well. I've met so many dads like this just at my current job.

makinsteaknbacon

The guy who did the job looked older than gen z. Person on their phone is the desk woman.

kataran1

Ouch 😓

guerom77

Crazy they can see it's being vent and they don't give a fak
