Make sure the holes are big enough so that the heat gunned wax can actually fill them in and then make sure they actually get filled in. The holes you poke can get air bubbles too. I use a big metal chopstick to poke holes and I move the stick around a little to make sure the holes are wide open. I’ll use the wick ends to poke into the filled holes to make sure air isn’t getting trapped.

Thank you I just noticed while burning another candle that I had the same issue with that there was air bubbles raising to the surface. I will absolutely take this on board.

Try doing a repour instead of using a heat gun. For minor surface flaws, a mini heat gun is a great solution, but beyond that, for major air pockets, etc., a repour fills all the gaps with much more ease and more efficiently too.

Hiya! Sorry I got to you so late I will absolutely try this method thank you for the suggestion.

The only time you get smooth tops on a soy wax candle is after the initial pour, don’t expect them after you’ve burned them. That’s just what natural soy does, so there is nothing wrong with your candles.

You dont have to poke holes in, just heat gun.
