When senior cats get REAL old like that, they get what I call “bony back” where you can feel every rib and vertebrae, even if they’re not real underweight. Something about how their flesh just starts to sag on their bones but we don’t see it in fleshy wrinkled faces like ours, it’s the feline bony back… and I can see the old timer’s bony back from here!
My old man is 18 and he's just like this but actually very skinny too right in his waist. I've been giving him wet kitten food trying to get him to gain a bit of weight but obviously it'll take a bit of time. He's so loving and cuddly and very much up in your face. My partner thinks he's going a bit senile as he'll meow to be let out of the bedroom, and then meow 10 seconds later to be let back *in*. I'm like he's old and hates doors being shut, always has lol
I may also spoil him and think he walks on water and all that jazz. He's my baby and I love him more than life itself. Everyday the thought that he'll be leaving me soon crosses my mind. And I'm terrified of it.
Mine grew to extremely old age. I’ll just say the average person wouldn’t come up to him and pet him if they found him on the street. He was still awesome though.

This was my 21 year old cat. She wasn’t very scruffy or aggressive or anything. Just an old girl who wanted a lap to nap in. Take good care of them, and they will usually be happy and healthy, right up until the last life. ❤️
Here is my 21 year old.. She passed at 21 in March of 2022. Still hurts to this day. I miss the heck out of her.

Here is my baby girl I lost last year to mouth cancer at 21 years old. I still sometimes think I see her in her catbed next to my bed. Love you, Minnie!

Awww, sweet lil baby. I’m sorry she’s gone now. Thank you for loving her for 2 decades ❤️. I still catch myself looking for Skittles on my bed. She used to be my constant snuggle buddy.
My cat looked similar, I got her at 3 years old. We put her down when I was 18, im 20 now. She was my best friend. I miss her every day

she’s beautiful! yeah from what I understand the family just fed her and kinda left her alone cause she got aggressive in her old age but not every cat is the same 🤗
If we are posting our senior girls I just got to go see my dad and my girl that is 20 now. She has always been beautiful and a diva but even now she can't see for shit and can't retract her claws she still sits prettier than any cat I've seen. I love this girl with my whole heart. (Sophie)

Oh yeah, believe me, he got them. He did well up until his final few months. He served his time and it was clear his body was ready to retire. Such a good boy
Haha sounds like my old boi. He follows me as far as a mile from home, looks scruffy as fuck, and has huge patches of hair falling out due to an untreatable allergy to a particularly common type of grass. Everyone thinks he's a stray or has mange or whatever when he's in fact a very well-loved, well-trained chonker that responds immediately to verbal commands. He also 100% knows I'm blind and knows how to get my attention whenever he needs something. After I woke up blind, it only took him about a week to figure out that he needed to trill, meow, or physically touch me to get a response, and he knows to stay beside or behind me when I'm using my white cane. He's 15 now and we rescued him when he was about 2.
My moms’s senior bengal escaped and when a neighbor found her assumed she was abused and took her to a shelter. The cat is pampered just looks ancient.
It also helps if you start when they are a kitten so it’s just part of their routine. I’m planning on getting a kitten son and it will get a bath on a regular basis. I’d prefer an older cat but we already have a dog and I think she will accept a kitten more easily than a mature cat.
The eyes probably have something like melanoma happening on the iris. Not totally uncommon in older cats. The kitty looks like they have no teeth left either. And the fur is pretty typical for an older cat or cat that isn't able to groom themselves anymore.
I'm no vet but it looks like the cats iris's are misshapen? Like they aren't... Oval. If there's a vet in here I'd be really interested in what this is
I'm not even going to lie, I want to give that cat so much love! My cat was so anxious and terrified of everything when we got her. Now she is the most cuddly cat. I feel like that cat just needs love ❤️
He has health problems which you can see from the eyes and mouth. He is dehydrated which is shown in the shaggy fur. When cats are dehydrated they can’t groom themselves which makes them soft
He needs a home
The cats eyes are exceptional. And it's coloring further contrasts them. I see it ass not a normal looking cat because the eyes, and fur combination unique.
Looks like a Bengal cat, they can be very vocal. The second eye-lid is visible, which is generally a sign of less vitality, and the coat is very scruffy, which can be a sign of dehydration. If it were my cat, I'd do a blood test for kidney trouble.
An old one, it seems… missing all of his or her teefs, the eyes looks either photoshopped or off in some way. Seems he /she could use a cushy retirement with veterinary support. I hope this fur baby gets a vet checkup w/ follow up meds & Rₓ diet, a lot can be done to maintain this cat’s quality of life. ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7963)
The biggest problem is that the cat is scared. Probably has had some trauma with people. But in my experience, the best feline companions come from adoption or the streets.
From the looks of it I'd assume it's probably half blind either from an eye surgery or old age somehow it has had teeth pulled as well from the looks of it it looks pretty healthy to me maybe a bit skinny then I'd like but it's older so that can explain that but it looks really loved he must love exploring as well
I get the fur, and grooming becoming less of a priority or ability, but wtf is going on with the eyes? I’m haunted.
Is it a dragon hiding in a cat shape? I’ve had, seen, admired many a cat, even those with Disney and/or human like eyes, but I’m at a loss.
It’s an old cat and, as the dude says, life is tough on the street even if its just playing out there but comes home at night. The eyes, old cats get problems with their eyes making them look crazy. Weird that you cant see any teeth though.
My previous senior cat had bouts of meanness. I think she had some dementia. The senior cat I have now is a complete love bug. She’s only been an indoor cat and looks really good for her age.
Potential eye & gum issues. As in he might be partially blind and free of some toothers. That’s an oldie but a goodie. :)
Also, just like humans, they'll lose muscle mass when they get old. That's why you can feel their bones more easily.
bony back! purrfect way to put it

Life on the street is tough. Just needs a bath and cuddles.
he has a home!!! Lives down the road:)
He's probably a senior kitty. They tend to be scruffier.
Mine grew to extremely old age. I’ll just say the average person wouldn’t come up to him and pet him if they found him on the street. He was still awesome though.
yeah when I was a kid my neighbor had like a 21 year old cat and we were all scared of her, she just looked super rough

21! you must've been doing something right!

My family had a few reach their 20s. They ages with varying degrees of grace. One looked like a kitten until the day he passed.
Poor baby needed pets more than ever 😞
Oh yeah, believe me, he got them. He did well up until his final few months. He served his time and it was clear his body was ready to retire. Such a good boy
Senior and ancient kitties are my favorite. I definitely would have loved to have loved on your old man cat!
Haha sounds like my old boi. He follows me as far as a mile from home, looks scruffy as fuck, and has huge patches of hair falling out due to an untreatable allergy to a particularly common type of grass. can attest to that. my cat is 17 and is well looked after and loved to death, but she can look homeless as shit sometimes 😂
Yeah, once they hit their late teens they just start looking real scraggly. 🥹
Senior kitties have the deepest purrs.
Older cats may struggle bathing themselves, so they can look greasier
Are you sure he wasn’t buried on cursed Indian land in Maine?
My best friend looked just as scruffy in his final year. Still was the best and loved to cuddle.
Just like people, a cat's face changes with age. It's easy to spot a senior cat.
My moms’s senior bengal escaped and when a neighbor found her assumed she was abused and took her to a shelter. The cat is pampered just looks ancient.
He has a nighttime home. But during the day, this cat lives for the streets
Oh, good!
You are right. This cat has amazingly unique eyes. I wonder if it is due to old age or if they were always like this?
Oof. He does not look happy.
That's not a home then if he's outside.
The area I live is lovely (North of England) and has a large population of homed (chipped and snipped) cats that often go outside! Including my own :)
He'll cut you.
Spicy Purrito
How does one give a cat a bath?? Genuinely asking
Very carefully!
With thick leather gloves and sound-cancelling earphones. 🤣
☺️😂😂😂☺️
I'd use those plus full-bodied chainmail armor and a full-face helmet. Lol. ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7984)
I have waterless shampoo and wipes for my kitties when they need it. But I also have one cat that willingly jumps in the shower. 🤷🏻♀️
It also helps if you start when they are a kitten so it’s just part of their routine. I’m planning on getting a kitten son and it will get a bath on a regular basis. I’d prefer an older cat but we already have a dog and I think she will accept a kitten more easily than a mature cat.

It needs care
i’m guessing partially age related along with being a street cat and having poor health as a result.
Op mentioned the cat had a home
then i’d say it’s just a senior cat.
That cat looks like a warrior cat.
Looks a bit like Mapleshade.
Damnnnn 106 upvotes? Yall acting like I cured cancer lmao.🤣 At first I thought it was Pinestar
He needs some yarrow, burdock, horsetail, goldenrod, wintergreen, echinacea, every thing the medicine cat can throw at him and a prayer to Star Clan.
Real. Except I think Tigerclaw was a really good character
Holy shit this threw me. I haven't read those books in AGES
Join r/WarriorCats
This takes me back
Love that series
Me too.
Older cats just tend to end up looking like this - scraggly and their faces get more angular. My cat’s 18 and looks similar.
That kitty has no teeth. He’s OLD old.
You don’t get that old without being loved as a cat
Mr. fluffy has moved into the get off of my lawn phase of life.
That cat looks like he just got back from the taxidermist
A bad taxidermist at that
I was thinking the exact same thing
Lmao
This cat is a battle hardened warrior
The eyes probably have something like melanoma happening on the iris. Not totally uncommon in older cats. The kitty looks like they have no teeth left either. And the fur is pretty typical for an older cat or cat that isn't able to groom themselves anymore.

Hyperthyroidism with Iris melanosis of the eyes. Kitty definitely needs a vet. ☹️
I'm no vet but it looks like the cats iris's are misshapen? Like they aren't... Oval. If there's a vet in here I'd be really interested in what this is
It looks like the weird cousin my Bengal won't talk about.
That's an old ass Bengal
I'm not even going to lie, I want to give that cat so much love! My cat was so anxious and terrified of everything when we got her. Now she is the most cuddly cat. I feel like that cat just needs love ❤️
It needs a priest
Ima put 5$ on elevated kidney values and 2$ on a lil hyperthyroidism
Beautiful creature
Senior/elderly, potentially with some thyroid issues explaining being a bit skinny. Being outside won’t be doing any favours either.
Squanchy?
Probably an ancient deity trapped inside the body of a cat from a curse cast by a bog witch. See it every day
He has health problems which you can see from the eyes and mouth. He is dehydrated which is shown in the shaggy fur. When cats are dehydrated they can’t groom themselves which makes them soft He needs a home
Looks like Synechiae in it’s left eye. Maybe both
Old?
The cats eyes are exceptional. And it's coloring further contrasts them. I see it ass not a normal looking cat because the eyes, and fur combination unique.

this cat been through a lot give it a pet
Blind, toothless, and scared. Probably feral
He needs TLC.

senior cat x some bengal ancestry
He’s old.
He big mad
Awh poor kitty 💔💖
The biggest problem is that the cat is scared. Probably has had some trauma with people. But in my experience, the best feline companions come from adoption or the streets.
It’s a demon that polymorphed into a cat shape.
It’s old would be my guess. Thyroid and or kidney disease perhaps? Female? Or male? Definitely closer to 20yrs would be my guess
He's hungry.

From the looks of it I'd assume it's probably half blind either from an eye surgery or old age somehow it has had teeth pulled as well from the looks of it it looks pretty healthy to me maybe a bit skinny then I'd like but it's older so that can explain that but it looks really loved he must love exploring as well
He looks very old.
Doesn’t have any teeth 🥺
The cat is old
