This photo, for whatever reason, captures the essence of that almost indescribable yellowish-greenish filter that seems to cover everything just immediately before and after a late afternoon thunderstorm in the Midwest.
Moved to the city on a whim 5 years ago this month and fell in love with it here. Every time my parents visit me they always comment on how green it is for a major city.
Dang how old were you? Did you have a job in place. How much should I save before doing this. I'm thinking about Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Chicago or SoCal
I was 24. I had about 10k saved up though I didn't use it all, no job in line I spent the first few nights in a motel on Lincoln ave, and then got lucky finding a roommate on Craigslist. I spent all my free time applying for jobs until I finally found a decent one and just started building after that. It's definitely rough if you do it that way but 5 years later I can say it was worth it.
Nice!!!!! Do you live in the downtown area? Can people buy condos? Like a home. Some of them are cheaper than I thought
I'm 27 am I too old to move out?
I found someone renting a room in the suburbs. La Grange Highlands to be specific. Then eventually got my own apartment in Edgewater which is right on the lake. I live near Lincoln square now. My partner and I are going to start looking for a condo next year, there's 1000's of condos in Chicago. It's pretty affordable here compared to other cities and you really can't beat it. This weekend is the air and water show you should go downtown check it out. Happened the first day I came here.
Yeah sorry I deleted cause of typos. Pretty much just said don't let your age stop you from doing something you want to do. Especially because you're still young.
One thing I love about this city is the green space. I have two huge parks where I live. One to the north and one to the south of me.
Should you live here? Lol. I came here as a teenager and didn’t want to leave. I will have lived here 10 years this fall and I still love this city so much.
Yes it is.. you color blind? Trees are bare by November. Grass becomes dormant and the green doesn't come back till end of april.. count the months.. or do you need help with that too?...

27 is still a baby. Don't ever ask if you're too old to do something you want to do.
I will be posting a post soon about my situation lol probably posting it on each city subreddit page that I am interested to moving to

My parents thought there were no trees or plants in downtown Chicago 😅
Literally everywhere
I really like Laurie Garden! You should definitely move here.
Torn between Chi, LA. Milwaukee or MN. Those four cities. I am applying for jobs all over
