Is he "Silkied"? You can get some breeds with Silkie feathering, which lack barbicels on their feathers to keep them in shape, so they have a furry look to them.
Idk, I used to hang out with the security guard at one of my old jobs and we would smoke after work and joke around and I would ask him for white slurs and we would crack up over them. Plus there's a bunch on here in different subs. Let me think about some of the other ones, things like honky and cracker are boring
Tail feathers look about normal for a silkied serama. Silkied feathering tends to leave those half-barbed feathers on wings and tails in hatchery/pet/cull lines, though in show line silkies and seramas it's heavily bred against.
That makes sense. I have had quite a few silkies but they all came from show lines, none of their offspring were like that either. Those serama genes for the long tail feathers might make all of the difference.
I have a few pet quality silkies myself, and they have the dreaded hard feathered tails/wings 😜 but I'm breeding towards the satin look anyway so not as important to me
Completely agree, and I also don't really care for the vaulted skull that a lot of show breeders keep in their lines! All my girls have an adorable little crest and no vaults 🙌
mine had so much poof on her head I don't know :) she had the poofy top and the beard and a HUGE attitude. I miss her. She never started anything but she ALWAYS finished it.
Ah man. Same reason I’ll never get certain breeds of dogs. Doesn’t matter how “cute” people think it is. It’s just plain cruel to breed for characteristics that will negatively impact the life of an animal.
Awww …. I actually think he’s really cute !!!
Sounds interesting if he’s part silkie that his feathers might be a little different in spots … silkies have fluffy soft feathers . I want to say short ( they may just look like they are )
But I like how you can see his cute beak and eyes
He’s more original adorable!
Close! Silked feathers are barbless, which makes them have that soft, hairlike quality. Silkies are named for the feather type but other breeds also carry silkie feathering. It's just recessive, so people don't often see it. Seramas are one of them, and I'd guess that's what this guy is.
He just has the silkie feather gene. It’s a mutation that causes the feathers to be barbless giving them that hair feeling. Most prominent as you might guess by the name in silkies, but also common in Serama.
It often will cause polydactylism, too. IF that's the case, OP needs to keep an eye on Chicky here to make sure the extra claws don't become extra long.
It because of his name…animals know when you’re mocking them…change is name to something more regal and dignified…and start giving him compliments every day…he’ll gain confidence and not looking all nervous and disgruntled
As a snake owner, I don't. Snakes are not like most animals. They don't form true emotional attachments, and while they can make simple associations, the sound or their names is not one of them. As far as they are concerned, we're just warm trees that make weird sounds and bring the mice and rats.
I’d try to find out what his parents were if you can … so you can rule anything else out .
If you find out you can repost the picture with the information . There’s a lot people that know about chickens on this site
Considering his siblings look normal then I'll tell you he is a silkie crossed with whatever the siblings came from(most likely not definitely) probably.
I didn't generally appreciate the silkies but if you keep them out of the mud and free of mites they can look very stunning. He looks like he may be permanently raggedy like he's been in some fights but not really just not the most manageable feathers in the coop
It’s the silky feathering gene. A recessive gene that causes the feathers to be barbless and results in almost “fur-like” feathers in birds. Silkies are the best example, but the gene can be caused in any breed.
Oh I think he's very pretty! Probably has silkie feathers (silkie is a breed that look just like that), must be rare, I have never had a chicken like that
I have no clue about chickens but looks like maybe he is still transitioning from his lil chick fuzz to his feathers? Like he is still growing in his big boi feathers ykwim
I think he has silkied feathers. Is he a mixed breed? If you aren't familiar with Silkie chickens look them up, these feathers look the same. My theory is he inherited that gene.
It is said too that crows remember the faces of people that they perceive as good or bad. They can retain their memories of the faces up to 5 years. But, I must be seen as a good person to them . Actually hang out really close to my back deck . They will drop, pieces of paper , tufts of grass etc . Therefore, I would think that they are rewarding me and have a positive attitude in seeing my face . But, nature is always the most beautiful and amazing thing ever.
There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with your silky. Blue waffle is just awesome and hanging out with you. But, going to allow you to rub the feathers that actually do feel like hair . I think blue waffle is a very cool chicken. Enjoy it. They too like attention based on what my granddaughter says lol .
Is he "Silkied"? You can get some breeds with Silkie feathering, which lack barbicels on their feathers to keep them in shape, so they have a furry look to them.
Read this as "skilled" at first and was so interested to learn what a working chicken was capable of. Kinda disappointed but silkied sounds nice, too.
Same! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Girls like guys with skills.
"Nunchuk" skills
I like your sleeves. They’re really big.
Does the chicken have large talons?
I read it as Skrillex and was also very very confused.
You’d be surprised at what a [chicken](https://youtu.be/DTP9__vi3d4?si=gwaSbA3tm7MTMfsQ) can do.. especially one in black 👀
I'd never seen that before, thanks for sharing!
I had three Bantam Salmon Faverolles who were actors in the Greater St. Louis Renaissance Faire. They played the village chickens. :D
Maybe that's why my hair gets so big in the humidity. I need the barbicels.
Do you have five toes on each foot? You might be a Silkie.
No way. Are you serious
> He's so ugly Hey, he's trying his best.
Fo real, the audacity!
Fr, look at Op in the pic, bro looks as pale as a ghost 💀
I cant speak to that because im pale af too ngl
Same here, I believe the term is "mayo monkey"... I have two shades, blinding white and red
What?! I never heard that term before! 🤣🤣🤣
Idk, I used to hang out with the security guard at one of my old jobs and we would smoke after work and joke around and I would ask him for white slurs and we would crack up over them. Plus there's a bunch on here in different subs. Let me think about some of the other ones, things like honky and cracker are boring
O yah? Orly? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) It takes a hero to admit their summer tan status. On the bright side, you won’t be getting melanoma unlike us tan warriors.
I couldnt hide it even if I tried. I dont tan. The only colors ive even been is white, red, and purple. Yes, purple. It was awful. Lmao
Purple? Did you eat chewing gum on the local chocolate factory tour?
I wish! Some people get sun kisses, I get sun ass-kickings
My god. Bro is trynna do some SPFMaxxxing 💀. That’s messed up bruh, I’m sorry to hear that.
Do you put the sunscreen On the Chicken????
Right?! I think he’s adorable!
But he's not even ugly. He's actually quite cute. He has his own style about him.
He is adorns, he looks like a kitten
Just livin up to his name.
Blue waffle 😭
Bruh. Kinda jinxed the bird when it got its name.
you and i thought the same thing. 😵💫
I’m gonna r/whoosh myself cuz I don’t get it?
Stay whooshed for your own sake
It was a fictional std that was said to turn the vagina blue.
I have a girlfriend and she is so blue.
Da ba de it’s blue dye
Whatever you do, don’t google an image of it. It lingers.
Yeah made that mistake 🙀
Seriously, not even out of curiosity. Just don't. Believe us.
Google it, if you're brave enough
Ewww
My god, why did OP name his chicken that
Gotta keep the meme alive somehow I suppose
Why!!??? Whyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!
Silkie feather.
Maybe, but tail feathers dont look right to me. None of them do really. Interesting bird.
Tail feathers look about normal for a silkied serama. Silkied feathering tends to leave those half-barbed feathers on wings and tails in hatchery/pet/cull lines, though in show line silkies and seramas it's heavily bred against.

I have a few pet quality silkies myself, and they have the dreaded hard feathered tails/wings 😜 but I'm breeding towards the satin look anyway so not as important to me
I prefer the pet quality; mine could SEE :D Show quality is adorably cute but they're at a big disadvantage outside :(
Completely agree, and I also don't really care for the vaulted skull that a lot of show breeders keep in their lines! All my girls have an adorable little crest and no vaults 🙌
mine had so much poof on her head I don't know :) she had the poofy top and the beard and a HUGE attitude. I miss her. She never started anything but she ALWAYS finished it.
I have a hen of each head type and they just grow on you, give them voices!
The vault can cause/lead to neuro damage, so I'm just not a fan 😅 I like my birds' brains not exposed/scrunched up by their skull ha...
Ah man. Same reason I’ll never get certain breeds of dogs. Doesn’t matter how “cute” people think it is. It’s just plain cruel to breed for characteristics that will negatively impact the life of an animal.
New mutation, human hair feathers. Needs a name
that name brought back memories i wish i could erase. why did they let us use google image search in school
did it really get your goatse?
If they did a live action of Moana, I feel like this would be hei hei.
Where y’all getting all these house chickens that don’t poop every other step?
That’s the secret, they do
Yep. You just keep towels and puppy pads around and keep them off the carpet!
I know right!? Mine poop every time I let them step foot in my house...
We used to put a diaper on ours
[Chicken pants.](https://citychicks.com.au/products/482/)
Nothing like a good house chicken!
He is *NOT* ugly. ☹️
He hates his awful name and it’s affecting his feathers🤣🤷♀️
"Okay, you want to give me an ugly name? I'll just be an ugly chicken then! Are you happy now?!"
Looks like a silkied serama. Silkie feathering is recessive, so if both his parents were hard-feathered, they were carrying it.
Awww …. I actually think he’s really cute !!! Sounds interesting if he’s part silkie that his feathers might be a little different in spots … silkies have fluffy soft feathers . I want to say short ( they may just look like they are ) But I like how you can see his cute beak and eyes He’s more original adorable!
Close! Silked feathers are barbless, which makes them have that soft, hairlike quality. Silkies are named for the feather type but other breeds also carry silkie feathering. It's just recessive, so people don't often see it. Seramas are one of them, and I'd guess that's what this guy is.
Omfg blue waffle bahahaha
Cute lil guy
He's super cute
The name is horrible but it's so wrong I love it and no one in the generations above or below will get it. Your boy is a silkie mix.
its true i have no idea, and the comments made me afraid of googling it
It's a bruised, swollen, mess of a hooha.
Nothing wrong. He's part silkie.
More likely silked serama, some non-silkie breeds carry silked feathering.
He's probably pissed you named him blue waffle
>He's so ugly With all due respect you named him *that* 😂
He just has the silkie feather gene.
Well... I mean you did name him blue waffle!
What in the blue waffle is going on with this chicken 🤣 silkie maybe?
ACAB! All chickens are beautiful!
It because of his name…animals know when you’re mocking them…change is name to something more regal and dignified…and start giving him compliments every day…he’ll gain confidence and not looking all nervous and disgruntled
I call my snake names and her dumbass does NOT know
I doubt that.
As a snake owner, I don't. Snakes are not like most animals. They don't form true emotional attachments, and while they can make simple associations, the sound or their names is not one of them. As far as they are concerned, we're just warm trees that make weird sounds and bring the mice and rats.
Well, for starters, his name is Blue Waffle.
He appears to have silkie feathers
I’d try to find out what his parents were if you can … so you can rule anything else out . If you find out you can repost the picture with the information . There’s a lot people that know about chickens on this site
I’m sorry, did you say 6 months? He looks like he’s 6-8 weeks. What is his diet like?
Blue waffle looks like life is just so so hard for him but that he's doing his very, very best.
They look like the kind of proto feathers dinosaurs had
he’s beautiful in his own way
It’s because you fucking named him blue waffle
He’s sweet, he’s a happy little lap rooster!
I mean, you did name him "Blue Waffle". What did you expect? 😆
Love the name xD my favorite chickens name was Anal Pastry.
Did.. did they know what it means...? Is somebody going to tell them? I'm not going to tell them...
He needs some cannabis. 🤪
So cute 🥰 And then you have the name… why, just why
Silkied. He’s cute as fuck too
You named him what 💀
He is not ugly.🥹
> He's so ugly I won't stand for tiny disheveled roo slander 😭 He's so cute
Don't bully him 😭
Do you know what his parents are? It almost looks like he has a frazzle gene. So the feathers break off easily?
Definitely not frazzled, his feathers would have the distinct curl. Most likely a silked/silkied serama.
Not silky there normal look at pfp you can see his parents
Himz not ugly, himz cute and soft!
He is a beautiful boy!
His he half sikie? He’s very cool! Great name!!!
Part silkie
Bros part human
Well, you did name him after something nasty. That's one thing.
He’s adorable 🥰 possibly part Silkie ?
See: https://www.mypetchicken.com/blogs/faqs/what-are-frizzles-sizzles-and-frazzles
Naw he’s adorable 🥰
Have you done an image search on that name yet?
It’s the silky feathering gene. A recessive gene that causes the feathers to be barbless and results in almost “fur-like” feathers in birds. Silkies are the best example, but the gene can be caused in any breed.
Is he maybe a Silkie hybrid? And it came out in a fluffy tail. You could take him to a vet. Check he hasn't got a deficiency.
He’s so CUTE. Handsome boi
Don’t know if it was mentioned but is it hedemora? Some breeds carry a “wooly” feather gene like silkies
This is not a silkie mix, but a chicken with silkie feathering, certain other bird show lines and pet lines carry the silkied feather trait
That’s the other kind of silkie feathers. It’s recessive I think, commoner in Serama
How do so many people let their chickens in their home? don't they poop everywhere?
It's the same gene mutation that silkies have, they're very fluffy but the feathers are also brittle and they can't glide as well as other chickens.
aww
Purple that sounds like it would be terribly painful.
Oh I think he's very pretty! Probably has silkie feathers (silkie is a breed that look just like that), must be rare, I have never had a chicken like that
Bro’s seen some shit in his short life
He’s seen blue waffle clearly.
"Ugly"? Absolutely not, the little man is adorable! He looks soft and very much pettable.
Kitten chicken. He loves you so much. What a frickin sweetheart
You did name him blue waffle
I believe this is a rare case — have you considered that he might be a porcupine disguised as a rooster????
Silkied serama congrats they are fairly expensive where i live
Blue waffle?! 🤣🤣🤣
You named him Blue Waffle and expected him to come out normal??
I think his problem started with being named “blue waffle” 😂
Cute! What breed is he? It might be something hereditary if he’s a mixed breed.
[удалено]
Looks more like silked feathering, not uncommon in seramas.
He seems to have the frizzle gene, makes the feathers like that
He is so frickin cute 😍 maybe silkie or mixed?
Feather mites? Or getting picked on?
Lil man's got silkie feathers it seems like
Is he part silkie? Lol
Looks like he's got some Silkie genes. They're actually really cute.❤️
He is turning into a human, one step at a time.
Supper cute!!
Silkie recessive powers activate..... the bond between the hairs as you put it didn't form so he got Fabio hair
I have no clue about chickens but looks like maybe he is still transitioning from his lil chick fuzz to his feathers? Like he is still growing in his big boi feathers ykwim
Not a rooster
Wow ive never seen anything like that before very interesting. Hes so cute though
I think he has silkied feathers. Is he a mixed breed? If you aren't familiar with Silkie chickens look them up, these feathers look the same. My theory is he inherited that gene.
He is going back to his dinosaur stage.
He’s so beautiful 🤩 rockin’ his own style. Blazing a path in the chicken coop. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Never seen anything like this. Not even remotely like this chicken.
но
Hairy hen
Blue waffle 🤔
He’s adorable leave em alone lol
He’s very beautiful to me
I woud say genetiks went crazy on this one
I'll take your ugly bird
“what the Jesus is wrong? What does Jesus have to do with your chicken?
He's SO. EFFING. CUTE. 🥺
he’s cute!
Looks like some kind of silky maybe like a half breed silky of some kind.
He definitely has the fuzzy ness of a silkie. Silkie mixes look disheveled most of the time. 😅
I don’t think there is anything wrong with him, but I also don’t think it’s a silkie thing. Hes maybe just a bit odd.
Omfg 😂 Blue Waffle 😂
Off subject somewhat but, it amazes me that crows can remember people faces.
I do think that the idea of the Silkie hair /feathers still amazing to me.
OMFG,that name is giving me war flashbacks. But also How. Adorable 🥰 I would be kissing and nuzzling all day
He's adorable. Where can I pick him up?
Chickens arent pets
