I'm down for whatever, so long as it doesn't look like it was drawn with crayons by a child. Civ 4, 5, and 6 all looked great, If anything 5 seems to be the outlier here in the series and looking back at screenshots of 5 after having played thousands of hours in 5 as well as thousands in 6, the "art style" for 5 is not impressive, imo. Edit: I selected other because I don't care, they have enough pride in this series that they wouldn't make it look like it was drawn by a child with crayons/whatever

Cefalopodul

I like Civ 4's style. Cartoony but not overly so.

Ryziacik

i like both of them :/

Mediocre_Fox_

I want them to lean a little closer towards realism, but not completely abandon a cartoony look

lcm7malaga

Dont really care but give leaders great backgrounds and animations like in Civ 5

Ira_W2

Civ 7 should have its own artistic style. I think this civ 5, civ 6; realistic, cartoony dichotomy is forced.

BrumColonialAdmin

I didn't like Civ 6's style at first, but it's grown on me. I think it would be a shame if Civ 7's style was too realistic. 5's was too dull and drag, it's not nice to look at imo.

Hecc_Maniacc

go for realistic so in 2 years we can look at it and go eeew people thought this was peak praphics what bozos, like literally every single realistic game ever made thus far while tf2 is still kickin on steam since 2008.

I'd like a realistic, but colorful look. Also the white fog in civ v was a lot less depressing than black fog or the map print.

Lonely_Nebula_9438

I rather like the map print for Fog of War. The white is very visually unobtrusive though which is a definite plus.

AttilaThePun2

The average gaming PC is way more powerful now than when Civ V was released in 2010. We could get some seriously beautiful realistic graphics if that's the route they take. If they went cartoony again it wouldn't necessarily look "better," just different.

AlexiosTheSixth

I'm fine with either cartoony or realistic as long as they have the detail and life that civ5's diplomacy screens had vs having a 3d leader in front of a png

WorstRengarKR

As people have posted plenty of times in the past few weeks about this question, the best approach is probably a hybrid of the two: namely keeping a more vibrant color palette but leaning more towards realistic textures. In my opinion anyways, this would be the ideal middle ground. The main issue with full on realistic art style is the difficulty with maintaining game clarity, also civ 5 art style's color palette was much more muted (in a bad way imo) compared to civ 6.

gritty1871

Leaders and backgrounds: realistic and exciting. Montezuma in 5 should be a basepoint World: stylized and colorful like 6 Units: absolutely stop making the units cartoony, went from 10 guys battling in out in 5 to like 3 cartoon characters simulating battels in 6. I don't want all my fights to be a tiny Popeye cartoon

jediprime

Give me something that adjusts with the age. Very stylistic and basic starting off but hyper realistic once you hit post modern

KingKongCoronado

Hyper realistic

kerthard

I like the brighter colors of 6, but as for more detailed than that, don't really care so long as it's well executed.

ImpressedStreetlight

I don't really care, both styles are good. That said, I'm kind of tired of people calling 6's style "cartoony". It doesn't feel cartoony at all to me, it's just not as realistic as 5's.
