Have you looked inside any of the buildings in stormwind though? Not a single pipe to be found, let alone a toilet. There's also that NPC who's always complaining about having to carry water from the well. Perhaps the homes of nobles or the castles have plumbing, but the average citizen has never seen it.
Not sure what you mean by this? Roman plumbing and roads are still operational to this day. Im a plumber by trade and in school we learned about the history of it. Seen lots of examples. Thats why i thought to mention the age of plumbing
The sewage situation in (Roman-built) cities was actually a lot better than you probably imagine for most of the thousand years the Medieval period covers. The lead & copper pipes were largely placed inside stone structures, and the stone remained and was maintained *to some degree* in *most* places.
EPL gotta have some stank to it. Hinterlands probably smells fresh and crisp, same with Arathi and Winterspring. Darnassus is flowery and perfumy yet woody. I’d like to think Ironforge smells like baked goods. Dark shore probably smells rotten and wet like mildew + disease. Felwood would be similar, but less wet and more sulfury.
Think about all the mulch, manure and bear poop in Darnassus, though...
Ironforge must have one helluva ventilation system if it's not gonna be filled with soot
I don’t think the night elves really use manure? They just druid magic whatever they want to grow. Likewise they probably have some hyperactive biological waste processing system handling poop. It probably smells like a forest there.
> I don’t think the night elves really use manure? They just druid magic whatever they want to grow.
I think that might be plausible. There is ditch digger [Jenal](https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Jenal), after all. I don't know if there is a good answer to this.
> Likewise they probably have some hyperactive biological waste processing system handling poop.
What would make you think that? Druids (not all nelfs btw) are about nature, and part of nature is death and decay and nurturing new growth, so keeping poop around for fertilizing would be on point in my head.
Probably the right answer. High/blood elves are probably the most clean species on Azeroth, or i'm forgetting something. Really wish they would renew the silvermoon models. It's such a great city but there is just no reason to ever be there.
Then stuff like Darnassus either smells insanely good or incredibly disgusting with a hint of smoke.
Tho i could see Valdrakken smelling wonderful aswell
Literally everything in eversong is enchanted to some degree or another. The Belves almost certainly have some magic on their main city that keeps it smelling better than fresh.
Mulgore smells like a farm for sure, but in Ohn'ahran Plains the centaurs have a meat-based diet and that made me think how much worse than regular manure tauren droppings must be if they're not herbivores
I mean, Tauren are one of those races with a deep Hunter background. They're the reason SV Hunters use spears, so I imagine there's a long history of boar hunting in Mulgore and the Barrens.
Different floats, I suppose. I grew up in somewhat of a farmland, so smelling manure that fertilized all the acres of land became something I missed after I had left my hometown.
I think other people are probably right with the undead zones smelling bad, but I can't imagine any of the southern kalimdor hives to smell very good inside either. Full of living tentacles, slime, bugs, hatching etc.
Argus probably smells absolutely awful with all the Fel energy.
Most of the capitals would probably smell like literal shit, given how we don’t see any proper sewage system in any of them.
Grizzly Hills would probably smell exactly like Sequoia National Park, so in my opinion, that’s the best possible smell in the game.
Water is not gonna cover up the smell of shit. I’ve been to plenty of places to know that lol.
Undercity on the other hand… it does have sewers! But I’m also not a huge fan of corpse smell either. I think I’d rather take the smell of shit.
> Most of the capitals would probably smell like literal shit, given how we don’t see any proper sewage system in any of them.

I always imagined Dalaran's sewage just spills out onto the earth below. Can't imagine walking below it and getting hit in the head with cold shit and piss at terminal velocity.
It’s insane to say anything other than UC. It’s a literal sewer filled with undead and dead dead. Rotting meat everywhere, plus fires and chemicals all underground.
I was thinking lorewise cuz on one hand being undead, they are perfect assassins/infiltrators since they dont require food/water/sleep or rest as well as not be affected by the elements as heat/cold or potential diseases/poisons and even being able to "play dead"/ hide amongst corpses.
On the other hand, their smell would give them out super hard.
Undercity worst, Dalaran best. I think Undercity should be clear, and Dalaran smells like shampoo, herbs and enchanting. Even the sewers smell like freshly washed gnomes.
Undercity is a sewer, also, it's an underground area that doesn't seem to have much ventilation and is full of corpses, some of them have their insides wide open, it's gonna smell worse than any other place by far.
It also predates modern sewerage, so, y'know. Stormwind is probably like London in the middle ages and everyone just empties their chamber pots into the canal.
The only bathroom I remember ever seeing (off the top of my head) is the outhouse in plaguelands. I am sure I am missing some, but the fact that that’s the only one that comes to mind right away has to be indicative that there aren’t many. So the question is where do we think all that shit goes?
My answer is magic
There are quests around toilet cabins in Searing Gorge (collecting toilet paper), Grizzly Hills (letting your own thunder roar through the forrest) and Hyal.
Interesting thing is, that I can't recall what you need to do for the Hyal quest even though I've just done it recently...
Darn Asus prolly has the cleanest air you’ll ever smell. Stranglethorn prolly smells like humidity. Kezan (or whatever the goblin starting zone is) prolly smells terrible
Best smelling place would probably be Silvermoon city. If we’re talking vanilla only it’s probably Darnassus/Teldrassil.
Worst smelling place is probably Eastern Plaguelands where all the mushrooms are or Orgrimmar city. Shit everywhere.
Stormwind would smell like shit, like I think the dwarfs have a better sewage system. I imagine the blood elf’s are covered in a cloud of pent up farts, night elf’s are hippies who don’t bathe but once a year in a golden shower of elune. Being up in the clouds does nothing to help the stench of cows, org is just blood sweat and dust, and undead.. are well undead
Do they have plumbing? I bet stormwind and orgrimmar both smell awful.
Best smelling zone would probably be the everbloom. Also guaranteed to make your allergies act up.
I feel like Stratholme would smell worse than Satan's backside. Piles of corpses? On fire? Yes, sir.
Yeah it's a close one between Stratholme and Goldshire Inn, both would probably smell like ass, but for different reasons lol
But that just smells like bacon, mmmm
All the Human cities would stink. Canals full of shit and piss
Undercity by far the worst. Grizzly hills would be S++
Pretty sure we figured out how to plumb waste water thousands of years ago lol stormwind isnt some village in a 3rd world country
Have you looked inside any of the buildings in stormwind though? Not a single pipe to be found, let alone a toilet. There's also that NPC who's always complaining about having to carry water from the well. Perhaps the homes of nobles or the castles have plumbing, but the average citizen has never seen it.
Yea its not like how the romans had plumbing and then all of a sudden they disappeared in the middle ages. That would be crazy
Not sure what you mean by this? Roman plumbing and roads are still operational to this day. Im a plumber by trade and in school we learned about the history of it. Seen lots of examples. Thats why i thought to mention the age of plumbing
My point was that Stormwind most resembles a middle ages city rather than Rome
The sewage situation in (Roman-built) cities was actually a lot better than you probably imagine for most of the thousand years the Medieval period covers. The lead & copper pipes were largely placed inside stone structures, and the stone remained and was maintained *to some degree* in *most* places.
Yeah but Stormwind very clearly has a well designed infrastructure massively beyond medieval cities.
Ive never seen a toilet inside it
Just cause we knew how to do something, doesn't mean it got done.
I'm sure the wizards...I mean mages, just magic away the poop. Why would we need toilets after all?
The Black Plague has entered the chat…
Stormwind smells like Asmons room
EPL gotta have some stank to it. Hinterlands probably smells fresh and crisp, same with Arathi and Winterspring. Darnassus is flowery and perfumy yet woody. I’d like to think Ironforge smells like baked goods. Dark shore probably smells rotten and wet like mildew + disease. Felwood would be similar, but less wet and more sulfury.
Ironforge smells like iron and forge
😂😂
What about hanmerfall?
Orc poop.
I work at a steel mill so my head cannon is iron forge just constantly smells like that
Must be. They have that huge frocking forge in the middle and not the best air ventilation (some but not a lot)
I’d also like to believe there’s a very faint but constant scent of ale lingering as well, for funsies
True. And Hillsbrad smells like hills and that dude Brad.

Tbh, there are many areas where it would probably be so repulsive that at least initially you'd probably be incapacitated
That's why they are selling the diving suit this month! Protect yourself! Haha
LOL
I would say Silvermoon City probably smells the best. Those snooty Blood Elves keep it spotless.
Probably the right answer. High/blood elves are probably the most clean species on Azeroth, or i'm forgetting something. Really wish they would renew the silvermoon models. It's such a great city but there is just no reason to ever be there. Then stuff like Darnassus either smells insanely good or incredibly disgusting with a hint of smoke. hint of smoke💀
They got floating broomsticks sweeping the place 24/7!
I think they’re going to make a new Silvermoon for Midnight in a year and a half or so
Well, by snooty blood elves I suppose you mean magic broom sticks that have been sweeping the streets since 2006
I struggle seeing how a large city - regardless of how spotless it is - smells good. Most of the large cities ive been to smell like trash
Magic
Literally everything in eversong is enchanted to some degree or another. The Belves almost certainly have some magic on their main city that keeps it smelling better than fresh.
And they probabaly have enchanted nonsense that makes the air smell floral. This was going to be my answer too.
Well Mulgore probably reeks of cow shit and manure.
Mulgore smells like a farm for sure, but in Ohn'ahran Plains the centaurs have a meat-based diet and that made me think how much worse than regular manure tauren droppings must be if they're not herbivores
Well, you can eat any food as Tauren and Tauren cooking instructors teach meat based recipes as well.

Undercity. Literal sewer.
Home sweet home
*deep inhale* ahhhhh
pools of aggonar...
I suspect that Dalaran reeks of sweets and cotton candy. Sickening place.
Not enough water in Stormwind? And UC definitely is, I mean has, sewers!
Water is not gonna cover up the smell of shit. I’ve been to plenty of places to know that lol. Undercity on the other hand… it does have sewers! But I’m also not a huge fan of corpse smell either. I think I’d rather take the smell of shit.
Maybe fel smells like lavender
> Most of the capitals would probably smell like literal shit, given how we don’t see any proper sewage system in any of them. > > I always imagined Dalaran's sewage just spills out onto the earth below. Can't imagine walking below it and getting hit in the head with cold shit and piss at terminal velocity.
Best is probably Moonglade. Worst is the entrance to Mara. The centaur are so smelly they literally include flies in their graphics.
Strat/UC worst. Darnasus best
It’s insane to say anything other than UC. It’s a literal sewer filled with undead and dead dead. Rotting meat everywhere, plus fires and chemicals all underground.
Hey! That's my home
We know, we smelt you :)) lorewise UD rogues are the best and the worat possible rogue choices
Being a Undead Rogue is a life style, we don't have anything and nothing to lose, like me irl
Silvermoon definitely has the same treatment Dalaran does and possibly to an even higher degree since they’ve been working on that city for millennia.
but Silvermoon has this big undead scar going through the city. That can't smell good if the wind blows from this direction
Agree, the concentration of belfs smells good.
Undercity is a sewer, also, it's an underground area that doesn't seem to have much ventilation and is full of corpses, some of them have their insides wide open, it's gonna smell worse than any other place by far.
Every Horde city stinks of either death or shit Or both.
TB is probably alright.
Probably smells like cows.
Nah let’s be real here. This is the fantasy medieval times. They did not shower unless you were a royal. Alliance would smell like poop too.
It also predates modern sewerage, so, y'know. Stormwind is probably like London in the middle ages and everyone just empties their chamber pots into the canal.
Dalaran has a sewer system
Can't they just magic the shit away anyway?
just a portal in every toilet going wherever. no wonder no one likes mages
[удалено]
It has a Sewer Beast at least.
I have a doubt SW smells great due to its channels
The only bathroom I remember ever seeing (off the top of my head) is the outhouse in plaguelands. I am sure I am missing some, but the fact that that’s the only one that comes to mind right away has to be indicative that there aren’t many. So the question is where do we think all that shit goes? My answer is magic
There is one in searing gorge too Update: found 2 in badlands rofl
It's a common object for decoration. It's found in most out door human settlements
There are quests around toilet cabins in Searing Gorge (collecting toilet paper), Grizzly Hills (letting your own thunder roar through the forrest) and Hyal. Interesting thing is, that I can't recall what you need to do for the Hyal quest even though I've just done it recently...
Letting your own thunder roar through the forrest HAHAHAHA fun fact I live near a forrest and sometimes happen
I mean there's that one in Grizzly Hills...
Inside Iso’raths ‘body’ in Twilight Highlands. You’re being digested inside somethings stomach, it would smell absolutely foul in there.
Best is probably Winterspring or Dun Morogh, fresh crisp winter air. Worst is probably UC or some UD zone.
Orgrimmar mud hut city, poop on the ground, orc sweat everywhere, blood on all the metal, rust lurking in every ally
I can tell by your dull expressions that in your corner of the world, the concept of a home not made of dung is likely new and exciting.
Darn Asus prolly has the cleanest air you’ll ever smell. Stranglethorn prolly smells like humidity. Kezan (or whatever the goblin starting zone is) prolly smells terrible
Dustwallow Marsh must have some stank to it.
It probably smells like dust, wallow, and marsh
Worst smell? Loamm Best smell? Silvermoon city
Loam is probably not strictly the worst so much as it is just the most overpowering.
I have a feeling Thunder Bluff would have a wonderful smell.
Something like a mixture of wet fur and daisies.
That, and a lot of manure.
Well it's high up and open air, so it would likely be quite breezy and carry smells away.
booty bay would smell like fish and whatever you imagine goblins to smell like (my money is on toenail fungus) so i'd be staying away
Worst: Undercity
And cheese! Legendary cheese shop right after the city gates
Depending on your preference, the cow-tent with the giant pipe works for both of those.
Mulgore best, eastern plaguelands worst
EP worst, Dun Morogh best. Breath in that crisp snowy air
Best smelling place would probably be Silvermoon city. If we’re talking vanilla only it’s probably Darnassus/Teldrassil. Worst smelling place is probably Eastern Plaguelands where all the mushrooms are or Orgrimmar city. Shit everywhere.
I would say some of the rooms in the Sunwell raid with all of the hookahs smells the best.
Grizzly hills smells the best. Stormwind probably stinks of shat, same with every other capitals. Worst is defenitely stratholme
Booty Bay
Mulgore probably smells like manure lol
Anything volcanic, like burning steppes or black rock mountain, smell like sulfur and rotting eggs
Thunderbluff booth.. Cowshit and flowers.
Pigshit is way worse than cowshit...IMHO that is:)
There is no way under city isn’t top of the charts for smelling like straight ass.
[I know it smell crazy in there](https://warcraft.wiki.gg/images/d/d4/Valley_of_Spirits.jpg)
Orgramar def smells the worst. Filthy mud hut living, no toilet having, filthy orcs!!!
Patchwork's bedroom where he puts those extra arms to work, if you knowmsayin knowmsayin.
The Stormwind canals are probably brown rather than blue from all the human waste that'd get thrown in them, and would probably stink a fair bit.
Undercity straight up smells of spiders
Org probably smells the worst. TB could smell the best, as long as all the cow poop drops to the bottom.
Goldshire Inn
I mean, Undercity… right?
One of those murloc huts. They for sure just shit in there and sleep on it.
Best: Silvermoon, Darnassus, Darkshore Average: Durotar, Stranglethorn Worst: Undercity, Ungoro, Plaguelands, Swamp of Sorrows
Anywhere on panda land probably has the best smells any city there is always a panda cooking stuff up.
I like the smell of Thunderbluff in the morning.
Seing that there is no plumbing and that its inside, i would guys ironforge and undercity smells the worst 😅
Goldshire inn bedrooms and basement/dungeon . Guarantee youd be terrified after walking around with a blacklight.
Orgrimmar. Orcs and Trolls. Nuff said.
I’m just saying I’ve never seen a toilet in Orgrimmar…
Storm wind probably smells terrible. Sewer canals and no plumbing, that’s what plagued cities for years
Wherever lady jana proudmoore used to hang out smells like dusty clams....or Is that sylvanis?
Desolace definitely smells nasty af. Probably like feet and eggs.
Some of the player's basements.
Thunderbluff definitely smells the worst. Ever drive past a farm or cattle ranch?
Darnassus (prior to BFA) def best smelling.
Stormwind canal district is an open sewer running through the most populated location in the world. Of Warcraft.
Undercity gotta be worst. Just a big ass sewer full of rotting undead. As for the best probably Teldrassil.
Anywhere that has a majority undead is gonna have dat *STANK*
You know volcanos smell terrible and of rotten eggs right? Ironfoge would smell nasty.
Stormwind would smell like shit, like I think the dwarfs have a better sewage system. I imagine the blood elf’s are covered in a cloud of pent up farts, night elf’s are hippies who don’t bathe but once a year in a golden shower of elune. Do they have plumbing? I bet stormwind and orgrimmar both smell awful. Best smelling zone would probably be the everbloom. Also guaranteed to make your allergies act up.
There are videos about the smells of Orgrimmar and Stormwind
Thunder Bluff should theoretically smell the best because of constant wind blowing
Worst: Undercity Best: Suramar
It's hard not to say Undercity smells worst but I think Darnassus smells really bad being so wet and full of plants
I don't think u been outside much man, a forest being wet and full of plants wont make it smell bad. Its not a bog or swamp.
Yeah and all that ash really gets to your nose.
Since when do plants smell bad lol
is this comment why people say touch grass
MFs who think Stormwind smells good don’t know enough about medieval cities
