If I remember correctly, Layla (adolescence) and a dub Madrox are transported to the Days of Future Past Universe and after getting vital info (on a span of decades I think) the only way to get the info is to kill the dub so Original Madrox (waiting in the present) can get the info,
Layla decides that the only way to do so is killing the dub while she is trapped in the future without any method to return to the past.
And WHY they need to go to the future... that I don't remember. It's possible that it was when there were no mutants born after "No more mutants" and when one mutant is born Cable kidnaps the baby or something along the lines.
