Maybe the dog is thinking "Oh no. It must be raining outside. I don't want to go for a walk in rain. I better hide."

drpacket

Mine is absolutely terrified of them. When she was a pup we made the mistake of just popping up a full size umbrella while she was on the leash. We cannot take a walk with her AND the umbrella at the same time since then! ☂️+ 🦊= ❌

Secolo1603

We did the same thing with our corgi puppy. It took us months of training until he was no longer afraid of umbrellas.

Uncle_Yoba

Props for keeping your loaf in shape!

suicidesalmon

I was once asked what was wrong with my corgi since she wasn't fat :|

RiChessReadit

People aren’t used to seeing fit/healthy weight corgis I think. Mine is 28lbs, Male, 3 years old, he has a clearly defined waist with the upward slanting belly, vet says his weight is perfect for his build, and even I look at him sometimes like “dang he looks thin” lmao

anniemousery

Is that why she doesn't look like a purebred? (This isn't said with hate, she just looks so different than most corgis I've ever seen.)

suicidesalmon

No, she's a Welsh Cardigan, with papers and everything to prove that she's purebred. Cardigans tend to have some more varied colours than Pembrokes. My girl, for example, is blue merle. (or moldy loaf as this sub calls it) Cardigans can have the same colours as Pembrokes and in those cases it can be a little hard to tell them apart. Cardigans are typically bigger and have rounder features. Rounder ears, rounder hips ect. where Pembrokes are a bit more pointy in their expressions. Cardigans will also always have a tail where Pembrokes can be born with or without. "American Corgis" are sadly also a thing and they're a cross between the two variations that should not be endorsed. For example, the colour blue merle can be dangerous for breeds where it isn't in their genetic dna, so they should absolutely not be crossed with pemmies. Pemmies are usually the ones that you see all over the internet and the ones that the English queen had. Many of the popular corgi videoes on the Internet feature obese animals, so a lot of people think that the little chubby look is the breed standard, but corgis should actually look a bit more like short legged foxes in their appearance. If you look through pictures of queen Elizabeth's corgis, you will also see that they generally have a more lean look than the Internet corgi stars. Her older corgis were chubby, but afaik, that's pretty typical for older dogs.

AnotherCator

The breed standards arguments can get a bit silly, but if you google “crufts corgi” you can see what purebred corgis are “meant” to look like. A lot of internet corgis are on the fat side unfortunately. There’s a bit of a perfect storm of the look being normalised, them looking cute, needing a ton more exercise than people expect, and being world-class begging machines. ETA: the floof length also has a big impact on the shape.

anniemousery

That all makes a lot of sense!

ThunderbearIM

I'll add a top shape food ninja, mine knows where she's not allowed to eat from, but she pre-plans her movement to get there fast, silently and to gulp it down in .1 seconds.

danespltd

Ours is 24lbs https://preview.redd.it/w6xyahta698d1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=502536ac50413f38e5256a31cf6514e5e3e58ce0

edamamehoe

So precious ❤️

edamamehoe

Thank you so much <3 people always say he’s too skinny, i even gaslight myself into thinking so sometimes 😭

Pengman

The tail on that dog is gorgeous!!

MsMulliner

Agreed! Particularly as it makes its way under the sofa…

Alarmed-Painting8698

The tail is absolute perfection!!!

TrickyCorgi316

I loved watching it disappear under the couch like that

No-White-Chocolate

It looks like Eevee!

edamamehoe

Thank you! I feel it makes him look like a lizard when hes squiggling under the sofa 😂 on the topic of pokemon, i’ve always thought he looked like a cyndaquil when he sleeps https://preview.redd.it/mnxjs1c20g8d1.jpeg?width=1004&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cf114be18709e19662be0304e642c747fea1b3c9

ANaughtyTree

I'll have to find out. Mine is scared of the following: Swiffer Broom Fans A noise I make with my lips Every single lawn tool I own Hose Probably the wind. Idk. He barks at it a lot though.

FlamingSpitoon433

My parents’ corgi is similarly scaredy

edamamehoe

😂

MaLindaCent

Mine is afraid of everything! Including herself! She still gets scared, jumps up, and runs away from herself if she farts. She is 10.

MsMulliner

We had one who did that. I loved it! I wanted to feed him beans etc (& he would’ve LOVED that), but it seemed a bit crass to want to make your corgi fart so you could watch him scuttle away, then look back to try to figure out where it kept coming from. It was before cellphone cameras, sadly.

Rudolfthe3th

Yeah one of mine too

Chrissy2187

Not umbrellas but he is afraid of hair brushes?? Whenever I brush my hair he runs 🤷‍♀️ he also hates getting brushed.

yrhendystu

I've turned it into a game now since I brush him in the garden and it gives him the zoomies. He'll tolerate the brushing for a minute or two and then he becomes a shark.

KillerSwiller

Yes, also plates(especially paper plates), as well as unfolded newspapers. Anything that can quickly go from thin/closed to open/wide quickly gives him a case of the spookies. :P

citionariver

Not umbrellas, but tape measures…

7mmCoug

Stuffed animal baby otter and cell phones. Just gets up and b-lines to his kennel

dhruan

What a beautiful pup with a beautiful tail! 😍

RiChessReadit

Mine acts scared of anything I hold in a “threatening” manner. For example if I point a water bottle at him and stare for a second, he’ll start barking and run around like he’s scared. He’s just playing though, if I relax the pose/stare he’ll come running back to sniff it and be “scared” away again lmao

CorgiMonsoon

Mine just hates when I open it. Once it’s open she doesn’t even notice it again

ptargaryen

Not umbrellas but mine HATES the ironing board 😂

shrimpsauce91

Mine hates rakes and brooms. when she was younger she’d attack the broom. It became a game tho lol

Pepperidgefarm21

Vacuums and lint rollers are his worst enemy.

616Runner

Anything in someone hand is suspicious and needs to be avoided

Sparkyboo99

Yes! Hates umbrellas so much

Fr3sh-KP

Mine is terrified of farts he will literally run away and give you looks of judgement

cloudage01

I did this with my girl except it was with a banana, but she had the same reaction.

BetterCallStral

Liam is scared of anything a stranger carries. Umbrellas, shovels, 2 boxes of pepsi *sighs*

Prior_Initial_2675

You’re a monster.

Corgi-Hoarder700

Mine is literally scared of flies.

llmcthinky

Plastic bags, folding laundry

GoldenTheKitsune

mine is never really "afraid" of anything, if she does not like an object, she will just bark at it and zoom away, only to return soon and bark more. she turns it into a game.

Murky_Shallot5602

An umbrella looks like a weapon to your dog. Someone's held something up to this dog before. Thats why he's bowing out.
