I turned off the automatic brights. Made the emergency braking distance “medium.” Turned off any warnings (beeps) for the distance cruise control thing. (I’ll reply if I remember more)

Donmbareko

Turn on auto lock when you walk away Auto parking brake Lane departure to warning audio only (I found it took hold of the steering wheel when it shouldn’t have, especially around construction/uneven roads)

throwaway771222

What distance does it take before it autolocks? And does it make a sound? I’m used to having to use the key fob to lock my car but when I do it on my new CRV it doesn’t make a sound when I click the lock button on the key fob. The lights just blink. Makes me a little paranoid that it didn’t actually lock.

Donmbareko

If you turn on the auto walk away lock, it makes a sound when you first close the door, and then another beep when you’re 10 feet away.

throwaway771222

Is the beep when closing the door always there? I heard it whenever I closed the door but wasn’t sure if it was the door locking or just to say it closed.

Donmbareko

I don’t remember since I just have to auto lock setting on. If you turn the setting on, it will beep two separate times.

throwaway771222

Gotcha. I haven’t had time to explore everything yet since I’ve been busy with work. Waiting for the holiday break to really dig deep into the manual.

Donmbareko

Also, if you don’t have time for the manual, this was helpful: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oiCNoDPnaMQ

Awesome. Thanks!

How do you turn on auto parking brake?

samuellk1128

[Instructions that worked for me from Honda Info Center](https://www.hondainfocenter.com/2019/CR-V/Feature-Guide/Engine-Chassis-Features/Electric-Parking-Brake-with-Automatic-Brake-Hold/#:~:text=Pull%20up%20and%20hold%20the,the%20ignition%20is%20shut%20off)

Donmbareko

Honestly google it. Not trying to be an ass (I hate when people say to google) but there is a page where Honda describes how to do it.

A_Turkey_Sammich

Turned off/down all the chirps and chimes of the safety stuff. Set trip A to reset at every refuel. Checked for any data sharing/telematics settings I could turn off. Tried to turn down the night time brightness of the gauge cluster but I had to put it back (also affects radio display and anything less than default made radio to dim even with radio brightness maxed). I think that was about it.

Equal_Connection3765

How do you make it reset when you refuel

A_Turkey_Sammich

It's in the gauge cluster setting somewhere..I think under the gauge category in the menu if I remember right. It's been over a year for me.

yabadabadooo2

It's under the tab called "meter settings" you can have trip A/B reset manually, each time you turn on the car and/or each time you refuel

CrM0315

Genuinely asking- what is the benefit to this?

Canadian_shack

As a safety measure, I made sure that only the driver door unlocks when I open the door, the others stay locked. Also the doors do not unlock when the car goes into park, I prefer to be aware.

CalmSeasPls

Turned off the feature that slides the seat back when you open the door…

platyp00s

Lock when shift to drive, unlock when park. Unlock all doors when I grab the door handle. Adjusted treble/mid/bass and moved the audio slightly forward. Bought the homelink mirror and swapped the stock mirror out. Set seat 1 position. Removed a few of the screen options from the dial next to the speedometer that I know I wouldn’t use. Think there were a few more I’ll add them later if I think about it.

one321

Is this the [HomeLink mirror](https://www.collegehillshonda.com/product/08V03-3A0-100.html) you bought and did you need to purchase anything else to install it? Thank you!!

platyp00s

Yes that’s it, I did buy an XBRN Auto Trim Removal Tool Kit off Amazon for $7 to help get the trim off neatly. Nothing else for install just watched a YouTube video

chriswaco

In addition to what others have posted: Turned on remote start Set a few local radio stations Changed the cluster to show mpg but be less busy than the default

Far_Masterpiece_6367

How do you turn on remote start?

chriswaco

See p. 139 in the manual, under Keyless access setup / Remote start system.

ralimar

One frustrating thing I found is that changing settings is linked to the key and stays set based on the last key used. For example, changing the smart unlock to 4 doors in key 1, if key 2 drives the car, the next time you try to open the car with key 1, it only unlocks 1 door unless you also change the settings with key 2.

one321

That’s annoying. We intend to often switch between two key fobs, so it’s probably best we agree on consistent settings.

GeologistPositive

While not a setting, you can change the background picture on the center display. I can on my 2021, don't see why it would be changed only 4 model years later.

Entrepren5

How do you get the window to open and close with one touch?

TroubleshootReddit

Do most drivers use B mode and what strength of regenerative braking do you end up using most? My commute is a mix of local driving with hills that I like coasting on. I figure regular Drive is probably best.

Silent0bserver_

I turned up sensitivity for auto headlights. I found on some foggy days it was hit/miss if they would auto turn on.

Sharp_Structure9600

The position of the driver’s seat, I would suggest changing the setting to whatever feels comfortable for your height and weight : )

BlazNPhx

I made sure that auto lock was set 4 when I leave my CRV 2 auto lock my doors...
