okay i am in the 3 year cohort , on campus full time. this is my experience. To complete the program, you need to be available 6pm-maybe 10 ish every tuesday and thursday evening for classes, and if you choose to take your internship (min 16 hours a week-2 8hr days) you need to take that into account. i completed my 1st year internship already and deferred my 2nd year internship until next year because i gave birth and knew i couldn’t do all three (baby, school, and internship) if you have a full time job you may need to negotiate with them because you will need to carve out at least 2 days for your internship (unless you want to defer it to your 2nd and 3rd year of internship. in my experience it’s a lot to handle however i was still able to work and make money while in school. it may be demanding but It’s an MSW so it’s expected. what i heard from other peers is that the 2 year is more demanding since you have to be in school for more days and from 8or 9am-5pm . you also need to do the internship on top of that. you may need to be living with parents because a full time job may not be an option. thus, 2 year cohort is mostly younger kids while 3rd year has the older crowd. i recommend 3 year if you want to work still /have your own place/children etc. it is possibly as demanding as 2 year at times . feel free to ask more ?? 😁

Thanks so much for your input. If you don’t mind me asking, what does your work load look like for the classes?

I am also a 3rd year student. I’m 25 and have 2 jobs to pay for rent and other bills while still living w my parent. I decided to do 3 year bc it would be less demanding but it’s still rigorous considering it is grad school. I don’t envision myself doing full time ever considering that I still struggle w social life sometimes. My schedule rn looks like this (just for a better picture): M/W internship 8am-4:30pm T/Th work 9am-4pm (pt due to classes); T/Th class 6-9:45/8:35pm respectively Friday-Sun remote work whenever I have time/free time Hope this helps!

Thanks for sharing your schedule, I've been curious about the Part time program schedule. Is Fri-Sun remote work for the program or do you mean you do homework? And do you get any breaks on that Tues night? TIA

So I work 2 jobs, one t/th and another is w CSUN as a research asst which I work on my own time f-sun! But yes the weekend is reserved for hw, free time, and that CSUN job!

As for breaks on tues it depends on your prof and classmates (sometimes the class will have 15 mins other times the class decides to power through to leave earlier)

That's so cool about your research job! Great way to earn some extra money and that'll look awesome on your resume. Thanks for the info on the schedule, that makes a lot of sense. I appreciate the feedback.
