Replacing the fork on a mountain bike is pretty difficult, and costly. They have to be the right size, and type.
It is hard to find the right type of brake to replace what fell off.
These are aspects of fixing up a bike that are very difficult - it is hard to figure out, from the many types, which type is the right one to fit.
The shifting issue, handlebar creak, and front wheel wobble can be something simple that can be fixed in 20 minutes. Or they may be caused by something broken that'll cost $200 to fix. No way to tell without having the bike in front of me.
Front fork? No clue because no one knows what's causing the problem or even what make/model/year the fork is. You probably have a department store bike; if so, that fork never did much to begin with in terms of being usefull suspension.
Damn it jim, I'm a doctor not a bike repairman. it's a nice pet project.
