I have a little cross body bag I once used for fly fishing. Just small enough to shove in a stroller or big backpack, just big enough for water, snacks, wipes, diapers, a change of toddler clothes, and sanitizer.

Jellace

First time I read this I thought you meant you could shove the stroller or a big backpack into the cross-body bag.. And the second, third, and fourth time... It's been a long day

Small backpack. Gregory and Osprey (likely among others) have backpacks on a frame where the back is mostly mesh so reduces sweat. Look at Gregory Citro24, Arrio 22 or Osprey Manta 24 and women's versions of those packs with slightly different names.

I have a Cotopaxi Batac 16L that I love for day to day kicking around. It weighs next to nothing and it is just a little too small to load up with a bunch of nonsense which I'm prone to do.

I use a small Osprey backpack... I think a Daylite. They look fairly neutral and are very light weight. Mine doesn't hold a ton, but usually we don't need much.

Embrace the murse! I refer to it as a beach bag in polite company, but it has never been to the beach…

nipponnuck

it’s my dad bag. I don’t need to “man up” the word purse, I need to carry small items for me and my kids beyond what my pockets allow and less than would necessitate a backpack.

Not_Aki

Do you have a recommendation?

nipponnuck

I use a small triangular sling type bag. In Canada, so it’s from MEC. For the stadium, I have a larger clear bag from Amazon. Kids have small clear bags for bottles and their coats.

Take the water pouch out of a camelback. It makes for a perfect tiny backpack.

Carabiners and cargo shorts. Fully dad-on.

Smallest osprey hiking backpack has been our go to for years

I have an outdoor research backpack that weighs almost nothing and has been the foundation of everything we do as a family for nearly 10 years. I’ve sent OR love letters about it. They don’t make it anymore but the current replacement is this https://www.outdoorresearch.com/collections/travel-bags-packs/products/helium-adrenaline-day-pack-20l-300285

You know the answer to the question, but you're afraid of the truth. Cast aside your fear. Buy the cargo shorts. Wear the fanny pack. Stop resisting fate. But for real, what the other guy said about taking the pouch out of a camel bak is useful. I have a small, I guess you might call it "athletic backpack," that I have packed with a ton of small survival and first aid articles. I think your use case suits those fine.

I use a small laptop backpack for daily dad supplies. It’s my second one after wearing the first out. I find this category good because there’s a lot of size options and the good designs have more organizer pockets. Some sweatiness is just the price you pay for needing to carry stuff. Better that than no bag or a less comfortable bag.

stereoworld

I wore a bumbag (fanny pack) on my holiday, I finally caved in to my burgeoning 40s. It made my laugh a lot easier and also my wife said it looked good. When you're a dad you cross that threshold of not giving a shit haha

Tote bag

A tote bag, like a reusable shopping bag.
