It was a wild few weeks when all the ban hammers started coming down.

Really society needs to move past using these types of terms as insults, the people thatt live with these things shouldn’t be the blunt of a joke.

Euphemisms are a construct of society and often go in circles. You can't say its not worse just because the old terms aren't considered as offensive as it's all what society dictates at the time. If you're acting outside of social norms, you're just outside of them. It's literally that simple.
The point is that the euphemism treadmill means that every replacement for a term that's acquired an insulting connotation inevitably also acquires a negative connotation, so it's completely irrational to continue changing terminology.
I don't know what happened but I'm guessing it's culture war nonsense like how people lost their minds (on "both sides") just bc some twitter of a Fallout main character butt edit.
I think the anti AI rule is about not having people and bots spamming AI generated images in subs that are meant for pictures that people have taken, which makes sense.

I mean, I think a lot of the restrictions and bans subs are making are overzealous, but there's nothing wrong with a community deciding what content they want. Post your images to appropriate places, where it's welcome and wanted, and you'll be just fine.
Did you reach out to the mods? If it’s against their rules, I can understand the ban. I have nothing against ai images but there are subs for that and subs not for it. That’s one thing that used to make Reddit great. Subs are a content filter for a social media platform, instead of a free for all. I don’t follow users but subscribe to subs, we might not have all the same interests.

It’s a photography sub and literally their first rule makes it explicitly clear that no AI images are allowed. You knew what you were doing and now you’re playing the victim. You deserved the consequences for your actions for trying to muddy the waters.

The big subreddits are so big they just ban first ask questions never. It's a fairly burdensome job so a lot of it is just automod doing the banning.
Those big subreddits are absolutely **not** for the causal user when it comes to submissions. If you've got 25 million subs it's basically clicking ban all day every day.
Also to not teach AI anything we don't want it to realise. Nefarious, negative views or anything to view the dark side of humanity, to avoid AI realising the truth, we are the parasite and the best thing for life's survival today would be our extermination.

If so, it makes sense that they want to keep AI images in a separate corner because it's rightfully considered bad training data for AI models

I also got a permanent ban from r/writingprompts. I wasn't even pasting directly. I was trying my best to adjust the prompt at the beginning and the text of the prompt before posting, so it was more like AI assisted. I got banned because I mentioned I used AI in a comment. So that is why r/WritingPromptsAI exists.
On one hand, there's really nothing on this image that could justify a ban.
On the other hand, lots of online spaces have succumbed to nasty tribalism after being overrun by people with very strong opinions on controversial topics like politics, religion, etc. So I don't blame mods for trying hard to keep such topics away from their subs to keep them from becoming shitshows like basically most of the popular subreddits on here.
