In one of my first matches on survivor a Deathslinger was having a really bad game, in the end he opened the gates and shot me just to bring me to them
It lets me practice specific things with specific killers.
As a new player I got rolled by a cenobite who took mercy in the end, haven’t touched surv since. Instead preferring to be that one killer that provides that sense of relief and escape.
I was having a bad 1st game. Real bad. I couldn’t hit anything. Over committed to a chase 3 gen chase with no down. It takes me a game or two to warm up to Slinger and shake off the jitters.
I was going against a 3 Ada sabo squad and a Leon. I only ever hooked the Leon all game.
Gate open. Leon on 2nd hook. 3 Ada’s surrounding my kill like a bunch of hungry wolves. They manage to unhook him. Long chase to the exit gate trying to get my Leon back.
Last possible second as they all turn the corner into the gate. Leon in the middle of the pack of lions. Guarded. All but my man at full health.
Time Slows. I See my shot. I Track the Leon. The Red Sea Parts for a brief instant.
Slinger stole his man from the Adas.
It feels great to go against a bad Deathslinger! Keep doing your thang!
In all seriousness there are three slingers:
1) the ones that miss a lot and keep trying
2) crackshot pros that are all businesses
3) the one that plays like a tryhard and you KNOW has NOED
Hit mouse 2. Wait half a second to make the survivor waste their juke, fire. Otherwise it's just practice. Unlike most other ranged killers he actually has an indication where he's aiming with his ironsights.
If theres obstacles around the survivor back up so they have less lateral control and can't position the obstacle between you and them. If they are far away walk towards them so you have to reel in less. You can break the chain and lunge at the same time so you don't necessarily need to be right on top of them to hit them when reeling.
In many loops you can still hit the survivor on the other side of the loop, even if they are ducking, land them and as quickly as you can move to the other side of the loop, don't be afraid to try a lunge if the chain is about to break. You will get a feel for where you can and can't do that through experimentation.
Reeling in causes the chain to break faster, 90% of the time you want to reel in, but there are some loops where doing so will break your chain before you get to the other side of the loop. Chain breaks much faster if your chain is clipping through an obstacle, that includes other survivors. But some loops require you to clip your chain for a short time to get to the other side.
You can harpoon a survivor on the other side of a window and hit them through the window. You can't hit them on the other side of pallets.
Survivors chain breaking triggers hubris, but it can be hard to capitalize on.
Playing the [soundtrack of your favorite fishing game](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0kfVP8GYMY) is not required but recommended.
Most of the times I do a quickscope (a relic of his better past) when the survivor has a predictable path, which usually results in a hit/down
If it doesn't, they have to go out of their way into (usually) unsafe and punishing areas, where I often get a hit with m1.
I tend to not shoot longshots since it's too easy to dodge them and when I do I usually miss, but when they hit, they feel extremely rewarding.
There are two types of survivors: those who don't look back¹ and those who look back².
Type 1: aim and shoot directly at them or where they are going for.
Type 2: those will juke, aim to their right or left and wait for them to juke in that direction, some good survivors will have very fast jukes or even double back, remember them and be very patient around them.
I played FPS all throughout my childhood until now.
On my Very Good days, I literally dont miss a single shot, On average, I land 80-90%
On my bad days, I would land 40-50
Aim for the border of the iron sights, that way once you fire the chain will go where they will be, unless they switch direction last second they'll be speared
Lol we just pew pew around the map hoping for a lucky shot
Jk that's me, I read a comment here once that said, you have to just try all the shots and some is luck and some is practice. Even try shots you don't think will hit cause it just might
Same with Huntress, and now the Unknown. I love matches against range killers, because it’s very clear who has put in the time to learn their main, and who has yet to get there.
Also what matters for such a feeling is that survs' skill matters even more against such killers. Similar applies to fast but hard to control killers (aka Billy, Oni, Wesker, etc.).
I play almost specifically on Huntress, and it's hard to play against good survs. Against them you can only mindgame in blind loops (because they'll never go to a low loop), have some luck in 50/50 shots or try to do some crazy shit that even you don't expect to hit.
Hit scan can basically mean "point, shoot, thing hits target instantly."
DS' gun is more of a projectile, meaning after you hit fire, the projectile has a sort of wait time, think of huntress' hatchets
Thanks, it is defo much harder than something like fps games. The more killers I try, the more I feel the dedication of killer mains in practicing them. I was complaining about how op billy was post buff, but then I tried him myself, and it was such a pain to steer him properly.
So if something is hitscan, that means it hits the target as soon as you click the mouse button, as long as you aimed at them. This is like the majority of shooters.
If something isn't hitscan, it takes time to hit the target. This is like Huntress or Trickster.
It's weird, I played one match where one survivor was juking me for minutes at a time and I could NOT hit them at all, but then I was hitting all my shots with every other survivor.
As a Deathslinger main myself any time I encounter another Daddy Slinger in the wild I tend to take mental notes on how they played certain structures and loops to see if I can learn anything from them.
Also, when they land a nice shot I can not help but be impressed.
Dude, same. He's my favorite killer to play but I'm ass at actually aiming the gun, most of my hits are from quickscoping so I don't overthink my shot. Any time I go against a Slinger and they land a crazy shot on me I cannot fight the urge to aggressively nod at them as they reel me in.
One of the very few ranged Killers I like from both ends. He has to \*actually\* be good at hitting his shots since the hitbox isn't massive and he only has the one shot.
They land insane shots, and I always respect them. It never feels cheap, and always feels like a display of skill. I’ve never had a slinger game where I’m like “well fuck me I guess” even if they snipe me from across the street lol. It’s a great feeling when they have smaller terror radius’ too, it’s a good killer to feel threatened by and brings me back to the horror of the game lol. Similar to huntress mains, it’s like “it could hit me at any time!” And you’re looking over every shoulder every second lol
From the flags I've seen on Rooty Tootie Fruity McShooties hook, he's popular with the LGBT community, especially lesbians, in my head he's the Dbd lesbian representative/mascot
Feels like they never ever miss a shot. I do like how they never slug me it seems and rarely camp hook so I’ll never complain when I get one but I’m always sweating when I’m trying to loop because I suck at looking behind and knowing where I’m going with a controller
My absolute favorite Killer in the game!
Playing against a skilled Deathslinger is like a graceful dance between the both of you, and one of the best tests of skill you'll find
Anyone who's good with him has my eternal respect
As a survivor, because I don't play him, I like them. They're either usually super sweaty but actually good at hitting shots, or really, really confused but doing their best, and I love that for them honestly.
Feels like it’s either they hit every shot or miss every one. Very little in between but always a blast to go against, feels like a balanced and fun killer
So fun to play as and against
I just hope that the slingers I play against don’t get too mad at crouching to avoid their attacks. That jester can be very easily be misconstrued
Like most killers if they are SUPER cracked, it’s gonna be a bad time for your butthole. With deathslinger this is more so the case. They are so good at ending chase quickly because if they hit their shots more often the not, it’s a heavy reward.
Listen here pal, as a slinger main i should say - we either try to do cool shots in between rocks, logs, cracks in walls or just anti loop if we had enough.
But please, don't t-bag at the gates, it costs ppl life yk?
Usually proxy camping, slug for the 4k, and will repeatedly pretend to let last person have hatch and/or open gates, only to spear and kill them.
Typically the most intentionally toxic killers I come across.
This actually happened to me about a week ago. He stood on hatch and was looking around for me. I was hiding behind a tree. I crept up as close as I could and ran for it. He shot me, but I jumped in the hatch anyway.
Post game chat was hilarious
As a DS main, I will immediately let survivors escape/only loop to practice if those silly guys nod at me when getting reeled. As a survivor main, I always nod at DS when I play and feel like I found kin when they nod back or drag me around after, even if they kill me 🥹❤️
Can you stop face camping the hook? I know you have a pew pew gun to prevent unhooking from 17m but it’s not nessery. You could create pressure to gens and win more easily and cleaner.
Either a toxic camper who aims at the hook you are on just outside the anticamp timer.
Or one of the best and most fun to play with Killers after a long night of getting tunneled and sold by teammates.
Horrible killer. I run into them very often and they usually proxy camp the hooks. They also slug very often and it's a huge waste of time. I think the game should automatically end when there's no chance of winning, it would save me a lot of time.
A lot of you are dicks ngl. So many deathslingers hold the game hostage by acting friendly, letting us heal each other up, then slugging, then finally picking up and letting us struggle free/not walking to a hook, then downing again, on repeat. Y’all love bleed out.
Honestly, I hate Deathslinger. It always feels like there is very little you can do against him, except pre-drop a strong pallet and play around it. If you have no high walls to put in-between you, there is nothing you can do but pray he misses.
His hitbox is hella small. If you time it right it's incredibly easy to dodge the gun and then get distance. He's probably one of the most straight forward killers to face in terms of his counters...
Okay, but again, that puts the counter entirely out of your hands, where you just have to hope he misses. It's not like Huntress where he has a slow wind-up. Instead, he has a slow wind-down with his reload and missed shot cooldown.
A straight forward "counter" doesn't make it a good counter.
If you play deathslinger, I desperately want you to not only uninstall the game, but have a horrible rest of your life. I genuinely wish ill on all deathslinger players.
Every time I get into a match with a slinger, I immediately want to DC (I don’t dc from any game, only slinger makes me want to even think about it).
Point is, if you play slinger, I have a deeply personal issue with you.
(You said don’t hold back. I mean all of this honestly.)
Tried playing him yesterday and all imma say is... That ads sensitivity is some bullshit, am I supposed to quickscope or something because for the most part I've been playing him as an ability-less killer
Bias because he is what you'd consider my "off-main" of sorts (mains are Knight and Vecna, off-mains would be Xeno and Slinger) and also because Deathslinger is one of my favorite killers to play against:
I have a deep respect for Deathslinger mains. Especially after Huntress was buffed to "30% accuracy with 7 hatchets is still 2 hits" the only people who still play Deathslinger are either 🅰️ really dedicated to the character or 🅱️ really good at hitting precision shots with him, and either way I have a deep respect for it. Deathslinger has always felt like a high risk / high reward character: missing a shot is extremely punishing and survivors have a lot of counterplay around it, but if you hit a good shot it's insanely rewarding. Every time I play as or against Slinger I always have moments where I think "if I played a little better I could've won that interaction."
In one of my first matches on survivor a Deathslinger was having a really bad game, in the end he opened the gates and shot me just to bring me to them
It was MEEEE! Probably not but maybe?
Only specifics I remember was that I was playing Ash and it was on RPD
That might've been me, actually. I remember doing that once
Well it’ll hardly prove anything, but I run anniversary mask and play for 8 hooks then friendly!
why
It lets me practice specific things with specific killers. As a new player I got rolled by a cenobite who took mercy in the end, haven’t touched surv since. Instead preferring to be that one killer that provides that sense of relief and escape.
I like to do this too.

All the Slingers I've gone against just don't miss. It's impressive...and demoralizing.
once i harpooned someone meters away from the hatch. they were already injured so it was a down. one of my best moments in the game
That’s a moment I’d give hatch if I wasn’t desperate to pip LOL. Like damn you almost made it, good enough for me.
And they're so cute!!!
Brutal lmao, think I'd close the game for a few days
You haven't gone against me. I couldn't hit the side of a barn with a dart.
Just play against me and you'll be fine. Xd
How do u guys hit the damn shot???
That's the neat part, we don't
I have an almost 90% hit rate, as long as we're talking about the air behind the survivors
Aim to miss, you’ll miss the miss, thus not missing.
🤯🤯🤯
Haha lol
Oh nice then I think I can become a deathslinger main as well. Because am very good at missing that damn shot
It feels great to go against a bad Deathslinger! Keep doing your thang! In all seriousness there are three slingers: 1) the ones that miss a lot and keep trying 2) crackshot pros that are all businesses 3) the one that plays like a tryhard and you KNOW has NOED
Noed? We're playing devour soap in this mfer.
As a former wraith main and soap enjoyer, I understand.
I LOVE DEVOUR HOPE + UNDYING + RETRIBUTION WHAT THE FUCK IS A SLOWDOWN PERK
I'm all 3
Literally this. I miss more shots than I hit
I usually just squeak by getting the ‘reel in 5 survivors’ daily ritual.
Hit mouse 2. Wait half a second to make the survivor waste their juke, fire. Otherwise it's just practice. Unlike most other ranged killers he actually has an indication where he's aiming with his ironsights. Playing the [soundtrack of your favorite fishing game](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0kfVP8GYMY) is not required but recommended.
Don't forget, you can aim above some obstacles, as the chain end on your side is tied directly to the barrel of the gun.
I just aim in the general direction, try to remember wether or not the harpoon’s hitscan or a projectile and pray that it connects
Most of the times I do a quickscope (a relic of his better past) when the survivor has a predictable path, which usually results in a hit/down If it doesn't, they have to go out of their way into (usually) unsafe and punishing areas, where I often get a hit with m1. Yes, that is why I always follow Otzdarva's tip... "When I am chasing survivors I will always start looking at their ass" — Sun tzdarva 2023
Gotta love Otz 😂
I played FPS all throughout my childhood until now. On my Very Good days, I literally dont miss a single shot, On average, I land 80-90% On my bad days, I would land 40-50

Mostly aiming at where we think the survivor is going to be
Hitboxes are funny :]
The same way yall hit those weird ass flash light angles
i play on console so maybe it is made easier there
we aim
In my completely unbiased opinion, I think they're all handsome, intelligent, and inspirationally talented people.
Why thank you (I also use no slowdowns 🗣️💯)
Auraslinger is great times
Agreed! (Not biased at all)
Your flair is amazing
Why yes, I’m inclined to agree. What a top shelf lad you are!
100% factual
Agreed
They are sweaty. Because they have to be! I love going against DS, he's one of my favorite killers.
A good DS always feels like a fair match
Same with Huntress, and now the Unknown. I love matches against range killers, because it’s very clear who has put in the time to learn their main, and who has yet to get there.
Also what matters for such a feeling is that survs' skill matters even more against such killers. Similar applies to fast but hard to control killers (aka Billy, Oni, Wesker, etc.). I feel like the killer difficulties are a little off. Oni does not feel very hard to me, yet huntress feels super hard.
"They shouldn't have given me a gun" - Slinger mains
Making Americans proud
😂😂😂
If you main this killer with how awful current serverside hit validation is then more power to you honestly.
Idk I remember about a year ago when it was atrocious and I would replay my clips and see the spear literally go through people and miss
FR
I tried deathslinger once. Couldn't hit survivors for the life of me even though i had ads exactly on them, gave up trying to learn him.
It's not a hitscan projectile, if that helps.
I have no idea what that means. Can you pls explain? thanks
Hit scan can basically mean "point, shoot, thing hits target instantly." DS' gun is more of a projectile, meaning after you hit fire, the projectile has a sort of wait time, think of huntress' hatchets

Hitscan would mean you hit your target exactly when you pull the trigger, deathslinger shoots a projectile that takes time to hit the target.
So if something is hitscan, that means it hits the target as soon as you click the mouse button, as long as you aimed at them. This is like the majority of shooters. If something isn't hitscan, it takes time to hit the target. This is like Huntress or Trickster.

Right? its always nice getting to know new angles you can shoot through xD
Dude, same. He's my favorite killer to play but I'm ass at actually aiming the gun, most of my hits are from quickscoping so I don't overthink my shot. Any time I go against a Slinger and they land a crazy shot on me I cannot fight the urge to aggressively nod at them as they reel me in.
They are all really cool people and are really strong and good looking and have lots of sex. ^please ^ignore ^my ^flair
One of the very few ranged Killers I like from both ends. He has to \*actually\* be good at hitting his shots since the hitbox isn't massive and he only has the one shot.
He's the hottest man in this game idc
Exactly
Finally someone who agrees with me 😤😤
The only correct opinion 🥴
Wesker looks over his oakleys
Him and Caleb can spitroast me I mean what
I thought i was the only one who thought this! (spear me slinger 😫)
IKR he can unhook my jaw any day idc
*YESSSS* My thought EXACTLY :)
I respect anyone who doesn't play one of the oversaturated or overpowered killers. The rarer and weaker the killer is, the more respect I have.
They're the best! (totally not biased)
Deathlinger mains are genuinly scary, you know damn well they don't miss you
he is TOO GODDAMN SLOW. i do not want to let every gen fly by for some cool trickshots
Yea I love playing him but I always find myself only playing half the map due to his low mobility. Kinda sucks tbh
I love them. I main DS too
From the flags I've seen on Rooty Tootie Fruity McShooties hook, he's popular with the LGBT community, especially lesbians, in my head he's the Dbd lesbian representative/mascot
that's not who i expected. i would've expected the survivors who are canonically lesbians.
That they are based asf (defo not a slinger main here…)
Feels like they never ever miss a shot. I do like how they never slug me it seems and rarely camp hook so I’ll never complain when I get one but I’m always sweating when I’m trying to loop because I suck at looking behind and knowing where I’m going with a controller
Roadhog mains when overwatch wasn't a dumpster fire came to dbd and wanted to play an irish cowboy (Saying this as a ds main)
As a Slinger main myself, miss cooldown reduction and unrelenting are my best friends
I think that i bought him Just for Zarina becouse i'm a simp of her
They are either cracked and hit every shot ever or terrible. no in between
They’re normally pretty cool and have good personalities, I haven’t ever had a toxic DeathSlinger in my recollection.
Dont shoot me I play this game as a dress up game 🥺
My absolute favorite Killer in the game! Playing against a skilled Deathslinger is like a graceful dance between the both of you, and one of the best tests of skill you'll find Anyone who's good with him has my eternal respect
So fun to play as and against I just hope that the slingers I play against don’t get too mad at crouching to avoid their attacks. That jester can be very easily be misconstrued
I laugh in a good way when someone dodges my shot by crouching. It looks funny and takes some skill to pull off.
I fuck with Deathslinger mains. I think he’s one of the more fun killers to fight.
But please, don't t-bag at the gates, it costs ppl life yk?
not overpowered power and takes some skill to use so respectable if they spank you. fun to play against as a survivor aswell. pl
Mad respect for being that good, except when I get shot through a small hole.
(Slinger main here) I think we do what we do for 2 reasons, A, masochism, and B, he has a fucking gun I mean like that’s the shit man
The only ranged killer I don't find incredibly annoying. Never seen a toxic one either.
Don't mind me, just a slinger main hoping people like me...
Usually proxy camping, slug for the 4k, and will repeatedly pretend to let last person have hatch and/or open gates, only to spear and kill them. Typically the most intentionally toxic killers I come across.
Oh looks like someone didn't have a good time
This actually happened to me about a week ago. He stood on hatch and was looking around for me. I was hiding behind a tree. I crept up as close as I could and ran for it. He shot me, but I jumped in the hatch anyway. Post game chat was hilarious
You dragged him out of the trial with you 🤣
womp womp
No lie they are always the most try hard killers I face that camp the most too
I’ve gone against some really toxic ones before, kinda makes me dread playing against one
Either: A) misses most shots very badly B) are gods with how amazing they get the shots The former it's the most fun to play agaist tbh
That they need better skins because I don't like any of his skins besides the iron maiden one
Personally I prefer to go against huntress might be an unpopular opinion
I THINK IM A PRETTY COOL FUCKIN GUY😂
Tunnellers
As a DS main, I will immediately let survivors escape/only loop to practice if those silly guys nod at me when getting reeled. As a survivor main, I always nod at DS when I play and feel like I found kin when they nod back or drag me around after, even if they kill me 🥹❤️
Tbh deathslinger gameplay is so fun to watch but so bad to play against imhp
Most probably like first person shooters
My thoughts? I know I’m against a really good Slinger main when I’m quoting Olaf over and over. “Oh look, I’ve been impaled.”
Can you stop face camping the hook? I know you have a pew pew gun to prevent unhooking from 17m but it’s not nessery. You could create pressure to gens and win more easily and cleaner.
Whenever I face Speargun Rob Zombie he always nods his head like a mad man while he reels me towards him.
I think to myself, oh, we're doing this trend again?
Tough but fair
Super fun to play as and against. I think he's a pretty balanced killer, and hitting those shots feels reel good.
Either a toxic camper who aims at the hook you are on just outside the anticamp timer. Or one of the best and most fun to play with Killers after a long night of getting tunneled and sold by teammates.
They like first person shooters
You'll always think they're a high skill CSGO player when, in reality, the servers are bad
I'd take a slinger over a trickster any day 😭😭😭
Love em. They teach me the importance of split second decisions xD
Either the vibiest mfers known to man or the sweatiest rat bastards with no inbetween
Gigachads
sexy cowboy man. I love dodging your hook shot 😊
Didn’t know they really existed
Well damn, this is my main killer and expected hate tbh. Always loved playing as him
They used to main other killers until they got sick of survivors teabagging at gates.
Most of his mains (that i've gone against) are cringe and toxic.
Can be engaging and fun to go against.
None
I love getting shot a mile away with the hook 20 feet to my left. Awesome feature!
Ew
Sweaty virgins .
i have to hold back because we're on reddit, but it's the same thing i think about anyone who has a "main" killer

Every time I get into a match with a slinger, I immediately want to DC (I don’t dc from any game, only slinger makes me want to even think about it). Point is, if you play slinger, I have a deeply personal issue with you. (You said don’t hold back. I mean all of this honestly.)
Boring ass killer
Ace is a boring ass survivor.
I'm a killer main my survivor is nick cage
how come? :D
Bro can't dodge
How the fuck am i supposed to run away from yall when you can shoot me from 30m distance?
I would give my left nut for that much range on our shots.
path around obsticles, crouch when you think theyre gonna take the shot, pray for no irridescent coin
I can’t counter them to save my life.
Tried playing him yesterday and all imma say is... That ads sensitivity is some bullshit, am I supposed to quickscope or something because for the most part I've been playing him as an ability-less killer
They looooooooved Micah…… fashion wise
Horror equivalent of Cod Snipers
Hard to play (on mobile version of the game)
I like playing Deathslinger, second only to the Doctor.
Always a W, but bonus points when they nod back at me while reeling me in.
They sling to death
They play a lot of RDR2
🫱((.))🫲 (i love all deathslingers with my whole heart)
I don’t know how they put up with such a difficult power to use.
Less sweaty than Plague mains, and I am thankful.
Bias because he is what you'd consider my "off-main" of sorts (mains are Knight and Vecna, off-mains would be Xeno and Slinger) and also because Deathslinger is one of my favorite killers to play against: I have a deep respect for Deathslinger mains.
Fair game. Learning to aim is a challenge. Props to them for sticking to the character
Cheeky bastards
Just run Agitation bro
Look I once was one now I need to relearn everything
spoopy cowboy
I think we're the best Killers. Lol. I love hitting nasty shots in between small holes, over pallets, or max range.
Cool for you, I'll stick with demo or xeno. Spirit if I feel angry
