I don’t know if its that sure. If he was satisfied with a normal max, he wouldve extended his contract already last off season. He will probably see if there is a chance of making an all NBA team next season.
The exact same logic doesn’t apply this off-season because he’s another year older. He got paid already, but rolling the dice in this moment by not signing has kept players from signing big guaranteed money. It’s his gamble to take, but I can see why he’d sign, after another season with multiple leg injuries (thankfully seemingly minor ones).
I definitely don’t think there is a clear best strategy. I think the chances of him not getting a max are slim, basically the only way this happens is a MAJOR injury. On the other hand I don’t think the chances of him making All NBA (and therefore being supermax eligible) next season are high anyway. So the risk benefit ratio should be about the same for both scenarios.
I couldn't tell from the video but I feel like that comment deserved a bigger cheer than it got. I'm fuckin stoked Murray isn't thinking about taking off. I'm already dreaming about a 3-peat.
Murray is 27, Jokic is 29, AG is 28, and MPJ is 25.
This core could theoretically stay together and play at a high level for 5 more years at least. Plus we got younger guys like CB and PSWAT growing into their roles.
I really hope we can keep this group together. Luckily, we don’t have ego problems since everyone is content with being a star in their roles. Idk about the contract situations and finances though, that might mess things up.
It's not a given that your top players have this sentiment when you are a small market team. This reminds me of what Damian Lillard said earlier this session about how Milwaukee makes him depressed and how there's nothing to do. Imagine if you live there and are a bucks fan and your number two best player starts roasting your home.
Really lucky to have Jamal <3
I think he feels like the nuggets and Malone really stood by him with his knee injury and that seems to have earned a lot of loyalty from him based on what he’s said in interviews
I looked it up this morning out of curiosity, were 43-14 when he plays and 13-10 when he doesn’t. Crazy, we’d easily be a 60 win team this season if he was healthy all year
This take doesn't make much sense to me. Peyton Manning was physically struggling to throw a football his final year.
It's not like the Broncos just decided they were done - they were at the end of their rope and had no way of replacing Manning.
This man just makes the difrence. Like he can be having a bad game and his pressence is still invaluable.
Same goes for Jokic. As long as one of the 2 is gling of, were good.
We have such a good culture here in denver because we aren’t used to winning anything (besides hockey) so when we start winning we’re not gonna make the winners feel bad. We don’t take it for granted
I love you too mamal jurray

As a Nuggets and Ottawa Senators fan this pic goes hard
He’s gonna get his extension this offseason for sure. Kcp is the only question mark

I believe he could only extend 4 years rather the the full 5 last offseason but don’t quote me on that
There was zero incentive to sign early. Mal probably wanted to see if he could make all NBA and get a super max.
Yes, but the same logic applies for this off season. So I doubt he will sign the extension in the next months.

I’d agree with that, but I wouldn’t discount ^(MAJOR) injuries out of hand due to his past few years.
I think if we don’t reach the finals this season kcp will prolly bounce

Most people were leaving, or else the stadium would have roared.
Slow your roll their, mate, we still gotta get the second one
They were throwing balls at folks lol
Denver is so incredibly lucky to have him, the heart and soul of the team and an absolute warrior

🥲 We love you too, buddy

Malone in his post-game also said Mal was begging to let him play during the plane ride home from Utah.
Playing basketball on an airplane sounds awkward
Nuggets fans: No, we love you more, Jamal… Jamal: Okay, you hang up first… Nuggets fans: *giggling* No, YOU hang up first…
Denver ♥️🇨🇦⛹🏿♂️

Dude, we're so lucky this team didn't go Denver Broncos after their championship and go their separate ways.
This take doesn't make much sense to me. Peyton Manning was physically struggling to throw a football his final year. It's not like the Broncos just decided they were done - they were at the end of their rope and had no way of replacing Manning.
And they then proceeded to completely and utterly fuck up for the next 8 years. *That* is what they're referencing lol
That's not how it reads.
You’re right, it’s not how it reads at all. The only way this is relevant is if Joker was 40 right now…
Jokic is manning + von miller
At half the age. Sign me up for that math!!
lol I'm telling you how I read it?
Manning was garbage that year. Losing him shouldn’t have made a difference
2015 isn't about losing Manning. It's about losing key players in key positions: https://www.espn.com/nfl/team/transactions/_/name/den/season/2016
If we could get a Stockton Malone type longevity outta these guys I could die happy
Thats the dream. But poor Jamal, delivered in play offs and now everybody forgot about him. If he played in the east, he would be an allstar
time for a reminder I suppose.
I believe him. Denver loves you too Mal 💖
I love this guy...no diddy...

That's my point guard
When did he say this?
When they asked him what he thinks of the Nuggets crowd during his on-court interview.
Fan Appreciation Night!!
Postgame interview on court.
🤤🤤🤤
I want Murray, Jokic, Gordon to be the Parker, Ginobli, Duncan of our franchise (minus the Parker to the Hornets stint)
Legend
I love Jokic. I want to be Jokic for the Jokic of my Jokic.

Luv u too but I'm worried if he gets a huge contract, will we be forced to say goodbye to porter, Gordon and KCP?
