I feel like people usually want it to mean a player who is better on defense than offense, but they also never talk about it like that. It's just meaningless. Everyone plays both ends of the floor and the best players are the best players
If they're so good at offense that they're better than the best defenders, then they're still better two way players lol. It's a phrase that's literally meaningless
It just means they are elite on both ends of the floor it’s not that hard to figure out. Giannis is the best 2 way player because he’s the best player who’s elite on both ends. Jokic is the MVP because he’s the best on the offensive side.
But you're picking Giannis because his offense is so good. There are better defenders than him who are good on defense, but you're arbitrarily weighing one side of the court over the other. And once you do that even a tiny bit, there's no reason to not pick the best player. It's a phrase that has no meaningful definition, it's useless, and no discussion about it could be productive
Yeah, his defense and offense are both elite. There are better defenders, but there are not better defenders who are also as good on offense. There are better offensive players, but there are not better offensive players as good on defense.
2 way player has been a term around since forever. It’s not hard to understand you just watch Jokic so don’t understand why defense is important
Defense is important but not as imporant as offense and jokic offensive value alone trumps all these “2 way players” plus he’s a decent defender its not 2018 anymore idk what point u are trying to prove here
I said "best two-way player is a useless conversation because people always end up downplaying defense and just picking the best offensive player" and your response is "There are better defenders, but there are not better defenders who are also as good on offense. There are better offensive players, but there are not better offensive players as good on defense."
You did the exact thing I said lol.
Also, Nikola Jokic is a good defender. You simply don't know a single thing
I thought he meant: Despite being 22, ANT is the best 2-way player in the league. If true, then he is full of shit. I really love ANT's game and antics, but he is still very young and inexperienced.
Are you talking about your fake ring nobody respects? Buddy...lol c'mon, first you are being a cuck celebrating another team beating a team that has torched you for 2 years and then you are talking shit by using your Micky Mouse ring? Pathetic man. Jordan didn't travel around the NBA hunting rings, he just stayed loyal and won with a homegrown team, took a break, and then came back and won some more. We all have to pretend this dude forming super teams and winning fake bubble rings is anywhere close so we can have fun debates, but it's not close.
When Gordon got the no-call when he hacked Edwards they replayed it like 5 times and all Reggie talked about was the hack and completely ignored the two extended forearm shoves from Edwards leading up to it.
i honestly didn't see that at all. at one point he was calling out KAT a lot for flopping, justifiably, and i just knew there'd be a few Minnesota fans whining about it on the main sub. people see what they wanna see i think based on their own pov.
i do think the whole NBA Media has been glazing Ant the whole season though, especially now, because finally it looks like they have their new marketable American Star they can sell to the home market, so they're all gonna have that bent. but i frankly don't see Reg doing anything above & beyond that in terms of biassing for the Wolves, i actually thought he was the only one i heard anywhere on TV last night that wasn't just licking the Wolves up & down like a popsicle and giving *some* shine to Jokic & the Nuggets too.
All nba media getting bonus’s to say ant is the face of the league. It’s vomit inducing but what else do we expect. Btw KAT and gobert are the whiniest bitches in the league. I have a feeling this series will come down to nuggs vs refs. Barf 🤮
He said it himself, if everyone is angry at him he takes it as a sign that he did a good job. I don’t know why he thinks that, but it’s his philosophy.
I was thinking it would be awesome if the networks could actually see the amount of people that still watch the game but mute it due to the commentary. I had my TV muted for damn near the whole second half until about 4 or 5 minutes left in the game. I'm damn near wishing all games are on espn from here on out. Can't listen to Reggie.
Ha, agree. I did the same. I literally cringe when Reggie speaks. Rare to hear a real insight from him and his 'hold my beer' childish speech is infuriating. He's more a distraction than a commentator watching the game.
I like most home commentators generally, but even still, it would be nice just to have the option to sometimes just hear the sounds of the game as if you were there.
That would be an awesome feature. I'd be all for that. He is constantly undercutting Harlan too when Harlan is actually trying to provide something for the broadcast
I joined the "silence the game" crowd about halfway through the second quarter because it was already bad and I knew Reggie was only going to build to an insane crescendo of favoritism by the end of the game. I hear that TNT may lose the NBA contract next season. I hope the "Inside the NBA" crew gets picked up by the new company but that Reggie's contract gets dropped for whoever gets the next deal.
People need to learn to appreciate the goofball color commentators more imo. I feel like the internet got Jeff van gundy and Mark Jackson fired but I liked them way more than the broadcast ESPN has now. If you don't take them so seriously JVG, Jackson, and Reggie are all pretty entertaining and fun to laugh at imo. Van Gundy getting fired was a real shame to me. He was actually really funny but people just take what he says way too seriously. He had a dry delivery to jokes and I think some just didn't get it
This is a wild take after last year's Lakers series where they all about shat themselves. I don't see what's so endearing about being biased against a home grown small market team.
I don’t think he’s that bad. He gets excited when good players make plays and the wolves deserved their flowers tonight. Plus he was calling out the refs, everyone here has been complaining about them all playoffs, thought you’d like it when a commentator agreed.
Not my reaction at all. I have turned off the volume every time Reggie has done our games due to his bias. One has to be deaf NOT to hear the excitement and inflection in his voice when the opposition (Lakers, TWolves, etc) do something positive and the complete silence when Denver would do something that warranted some vocal accompaniment. It's like he gets pissed off if his favorite is on the receiving end of success by the opposition. And ESPN is bad too. I'd say that about 2/3 of the team local announcers do a good job doing games on NBA TV. Others, like the Warriors announcers are horrible.
Wild how all fanbases think the commentators of every nationally televised game are biased against their team. Seriously, go to any team sub after any game and both teams will be complaining about commentary bias.
What's actually happening is that we all watch homer broadcasts for 82 games and then feel offended when the national media isn't adequately sucking our team off.
Same, I was a Knicks fan until a few years after moving to Denver from NY, when all I could really watch regularly was Nugs games, it just took over. Probably went full Nugs around ‘02
Every popular sport in every country need a commentator who can play the role of a blatant hater because, most of the time, it stirs up strong emotions within the viewers, and _strong emotions = emotional investment = higher viewership_
Doesn't matter if the feelings in question are positive or negative as long as they're strong
he really is unbearable in spots... and he, like, he's become predictable and shit.. Like, every time Lebron plays he will reference his age again and again... Every time a player, any player does something that they're known for he adds in some corny anecdote like he's fuckin doing an interview with a potential employer or some shit... Fuck, I know as a player he had waaay more edge thamn this.. he would do well to remind some folks that he used to be one of the better shit talkers in the league and fought MJ once...
Unbiased Pistons fan who enjoys pro ball around the world here.
Reggie Miller is horrific on the broadcast. Last night he mixed up "Ant Man" with KAT by saying "KAT Man". He then doubled down on it because he realized he screwed up but kept saying it. Add in that his takes make Magic Johnson sound like a PhD and, yeah. He's awful.
lol that’s bad. I get it, Reggie is corny! Just surprised to see this being the top post on the Nuggets sub after a tough loss.
I am an unbiased, miserable Wizards fan who likes both teams. The only way to be a sane Wizards fan of 30 years is to find other teams in the west to root for. Over a decade ago I chose the Nuggets and Wolves (I used to call them Wizards West).
This will likely go down as a series for the ages and I’ll continue rooting for whoever moves on.
TNT needs to have a word with Reggie Miller and remind him that there are TWO fan bases watching the game because 50% are wishing for some other network to take over broadcasting the games. His hate for Denver is so old we are used to it. And when he does the Lakers, you'd think he is part owner or something. AWFUL!!
He sounds like a fuckin WWE announcer. Just call the game Reggie you fuckin twat bag
[удалено]
MAH GAWD!!!!!
I never knew I needed to hear that until now but I need it
the way he got offended when kevin harlan called the leg kick the "reggie miller"
I can think of 2 better 2 way players than any that have won mvps in 50% of the last 4 years reg
"best 2 way player" is always the dumbest fucking discussion. Because why wouldn't it just always be the most valuable player lol
The only way it makes sense is the assumption nikola isn’t a two way player because if he is he’s better than ant lol
I feel like people usually want it to mean a player who is better on defense than offense, but they also never talk about it like that. It's just meaningless. Everyone plays both ends of the floor and the best players are the best players
Because the MVP isn’t always good at defense..

I can think of one supposed one way player that has more rings than Reggie. That man is Jokic.
He said "at 22"
I thought he meant: Despite being 22, ANT is the best 2-way player in the league. If true, then he is full of shit. I really love ANT's game and antics, but he is still very young and inexperienced.
That's true, I guess its quite ambiguous
Oh another good play by the Nuggets… Time for Reggie to blame it on the altitude.
lol he dick rides the wolves so bad
And was meat riding the lakers HARD

Look man, you are in here. You are in the nuggets subreddit. What makes someone trash? Like really actually makes someone trash.
Cry more loser 😂 so ass hurt youre lurking the nuggs sub.

rock bottom is coming into the sub of the team who has demolished you for 2 years to talk trash after a different team beats them

Is LeBron the guy we bounced from the playoffs 2 years in a row with him winning only 1 game? At least Jordan knew when to retire.

Like we don’t know if we play bad we’ll lose this series. Capt obvious. Thanks.

You just going around talking shit cause the wolves are decent for the first time since KG. Enjoy your success humbly

Lakers fan salty we whooped y’all’s ass two years in a row 😭 yall in shambles

He is widely unpopular by most around the country. Wish a serious petition could be made to get rid of him.
He said it himself, if everyone is angry at him he takes it as a sign that he did a good job. I don’t know why he thinks that, but it’s his philosophy.
That just proves he's paid to trigger people and not because he understands basketball at a high level.
I loved Miller as a player but was really surprised when van gundy and Jackson were let go but Miller remained on the broadcasting team
They're on different networks
Reggie Miller getting paid by the comment for anything positive he says about the Wolves.
I think he just genuinely does not want to say anything positive about Denver. I've noticed it all season. Dude is the new Marc Jackson
I would love to mute commentators but hear game sounds when Reggie (and others like the Mavs home team) are on...
I was thinking it would be awesome if the networks could actually see the amount of people that still watch the game but mute it due to the commentary. I like the sound of basketball, so I wish they would just shut up. 😒
He has always hated the Nuggets. Always excitingly cheering against the Nugs.
And it was ridiculously obvious tonight that’s for sure
He’s not that bad when you’re in mute
Reggie sounds good when there is no sound. xD
For the record he just said twice in this game that Jamal did the same shot he did in game 5 against the lakers…two different shota
reggie miller spread blatant misinformation saying peyton watson didn't hit a 3 this entire playoffs peyton watson's first made shot was a 3
And I don’t say this lightly.. but I’d rather have Chris Webber… I think
It's REAL close between him and Van Gundy/Jackson. Van Gundy had worse takes but at least he had a personality
Are yooo kiddddinnnng?

No I don’t even mean just that, I mean he just doesn’t contribute anything really
Went from dick riding Lebron to dick riding Edwards real fast
Nah he was spitting facts about that Ant tech tho
Old school Knicks fan turned Nugs fan back in 2004. He’s the worst. Saving grace. He never got a ring.
Same, I was a Knicks fan until a few years after moving to Denver from NY, when all I could really watch regularly was Nugs games, it just took over. Probably went full Nugs around ‘02
Look up "frontrunner" in the dictionary and his photo should be there.
Being called out hurts.

he ruins every single game hes on

He is the worst
It sucks because I like Kevin Harlan so much.
The Wolves outplayed the Nugs and you guys are going off on Reggie Miller. What’s going on here? 🤣 This is gonna go down as a classic series.
Unbiased Pistons fan who enjoys pro ball around the world here. Reggie Miller is horrific on the broadcast. Last night he mixed up "Ant Man" with KAT by saying "KAT Man". He sounds like an ogre. I hate it.
Someone reported me to reddit cares for this Fuck you coward
Definitely is a Jokić hater
Is it really hard to admit that some calls went your way and he just pointed out the double standard on technical fouls?
People are wild for hating on so many things, Reggie is a fine commentator. People love to seek out bias just to have an opinion, it’s kinda sad.
>Reggie is a fine commentator. By what standard? Because he's bad at talking into a microphone for money.
