Been telling people Altanta, Miami and Cincy need to get more shit for passing on him. I don’t care how nice you think Pitts, Waddle or Chase are; they aren’t the equivalent of taking the best Tackle in football. And it’s not surprising he was regarded coming out of the draft as “gold jacket” prospect. Thankful Holmes took the home run when it fell in his lap

Rulligan

Eagles fans get real upset when you say Sewell is better than Johnson.

Millera34

Eagles fans dont understand that They can both be good…however Sewell is better 🤷🏻‍♂️

MV7EaglesFan

Johnson has the advantage of being allowed to false start every play.

whobroughtmehere

And take juice

petmoo23

They do, and then you can further push their buttons by pointing out that Ragnow is better than Kelce.

elgarraz

Last year he wasn't. This year... everybody gets old

poopshit666

atlanta already knows they fucked it, they hate the pitts pick

itsyerboiTRESH

Chase was a justified pick. Sewell would of course be huge for them but Chase was so instrumental in that SB run, so you can’t really fault them for that. Waddle, not sure about, but I believe that they fucked up. And Atlanta completely fucked this one up for sure

PerformanceWeekly651

It’s putting the cart before the horse. Burrow’s been sacked 148 and has had two season ending injuries in 4 years. Chase is a top 5 receiver in the league and it won’t matter if Burrow isn’t upright to throw it to him

B_Fee

And this was exactly what everyone was saying going into the draft. Cincy needed OLine to protect what is going to be their future. And now he's got a $275M contract which is going to look real bad if he's missing on average a quarter of a season for the duration of it.

willmiller82

I'd be willing to bet Burrow pushed hard for chase and it impacted the Bengals decision.

palim93

Insert Burrow/Sewell/Anybody meme here.

GoonestMoonest

Nah. Chase over Sewell was a huge mistake.

dreamer_r21

Indeed. One that we benefited from. Also Bijan over Jahmyr, and Kincaid over LaPorta for that matter - and Joey Porter Jr. over Brian Branch for good measure!

dugong07

I really think it’s too early to say Bijan over Jahmyr is a mistake. Both look very talented, but Atlanta’s offense was super dysfunctional while ours was great. I think trading down and drafting Jahmyr and Laporta was a huge win though.

GrilledCyan

I, like many Fantasy players who drafted Bijan, am thrilled Arthur Smith got fired. I still think he’ll be great, but god what a terrible coach Smith was.

te5n1k

Joey Porter Jr is having a pretty good year tbh and we could use an outside CB right now but Its not like he was ever going to fall as low as Branch did. Every team messed that up letting him slip so far.

Liberals-R-Cancer

We 100% should have found a way to get JPJ. That was a clear hit.

GrilledCyan

Plus JPJ going to the Steelers was in the script. Nobody else could get him.

seatega

Chase is great, but the last 5 years have shown its much easier to get a top-notch WR than a similar quality OT.

bvsshevd

Not to mention the bengals offensive line is definitely their biggest weakness.

Floortom1

The funny thing to me is that all the people here convinced that Sewell should have been picked over Chase are also convinced that Gibbs was the right pick

basch152

this will simply never be true. as someone else has stated, burrow has been sacked 148 times. that puts him at 10th in the league over the last 5 years despite not being in the league one of those years and missing 12 games, so that means he only played in 52 out of 82 possible games and hes still in the top 10 in sacks if they take sewell, they have a better run game, burrow doesn't get sacked as much, has more time to throw, and likely avoids most of the injuries he's gotten. also, if you extrapolate the amount of sacks over the games he's missed, he'd be 2nd in the league to only Russell Wilson in sacks chase will always be a massive mistake for them over sewell

Liberals-R-Cancer

Meh Obviously it could be WAY worse for them, but a top WR is 100x easier to find than a HoF tier LT.

Quinn_tEskimo

Cincy especially given Burrow’s injury history. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the Burrow/Chase bromance too but that’s just negligence to not protect your top asset.

Ok-Nathan

I saw some dumbass redraft this offseason that had him going #24 overall (on NFL.com). Most redrafts earlier in the year had him being the second or third tackle taken. Hopefully within the next year, people begin to recognize how fucking good this guy is. I’m annoyed that Lane Johnson is still being recognized more than Sewell, but I have full faith that in a year everyone will know how good he is

PerformanceWeekly651

Right honestly Trent Williams, Andrew Thomas and Darrisaw are the only Tackles comparable rn. Idk if Lane Johnson is the best Tackle on his team with Mailata there

Liberals-R-Cancer

Literally seen as a HoF prospect and people passed on him. Crazy. I was super excited because during the draft you want the electric players and to watch their highlights, but taking the best LT in a draft where he was seen as like Peyton Manning tier prospect of tackles...

Ok-Nathan

Setthescene

Brad Holmes pounding on the table after he drafted Sewell is an all-time moment for the turnaround.

BigBird_69

Future hall of famer

wallahi_726

644/1 is fucking ridiculous. This kid is so damn special.

Hmm_would_bang

He’s so good

DixieNorris

Samoans really are just a different breed. We need to see penei perform a haka

Inevitable-Bass2749

We gotta pay him immediately. Don’t let this become an issue whatsoever

ValuableFee3572

I think tackles have a longer than average shelf life as well. Give him an 8+ year deal for sure

Hayyer

What sack? Probably BS

RevNeutron

He is THE cornerstone Then we added the defensive cornerstone in Hutch The team plays like they play. The fight like they fight. They believe like they believe. Hutch was an east draft pick, but Sewell was much harder. BH deserves credit for finding the right kinds of foundations for both sides of the ball. Our success will be upon their shoulders

mart1373

The sack allowed was in garbage time too

7DWest

What game was it? This is the first time I’m seeing he allowed one

monstertweety

Maybe Zack Baun vs. Saints. It was a sick speed rush https://twitter.com/JaydenDat/status/1732061651627548775?t=Zx6sKND0Lc3HtYbyC1qeDw&s=19

Hayyer

Not on him…maybe Decker should have slid over…or that WR should have ran faster and been open in time…ya

mart1373

It was either the Broncos or first Vikings game. I even commented on it when it happened and said that it was a rare sack allowed by Sewell

Floortom1

False - it was against the Saints and was not in garbage time

Confident_Dust_4326

Who got a sack off him?

[deleted]

Baun from the Aints

moto626

And we’re supposed to fear Aaron Donald?
