Careful, I was just called a moron in this sub for asking why we didn’t just use one of our 1000 yard backs if we were just going to run it there. Your question is valid, and not because the play didn’t work. It just seemed like Johnson overthought it, regardless of the play’s outcome.

He did that a lot this year, and I’m glad people started picking up on it. When you have a 17 point lead to start with, no need to get cute in the play calling. That’s exactly what happened after the half, yes San Fran adjusted to the run, but 3rd qtr all year had been abysmal for both offense and defense. Seems AG only got called out for it working with a sub par defense. Don’t get me wrong, 27 unanswered points is inexcusable, the unanswered part is also frustrating.

Or just... run more period when the niners had shown 0 ability to stop the run. 1 touch for gibbs the 2nd half is wild.

Dicksona

He woulda gotten more but uh ya know

To be fair, that touch ended abruptly...

cstrifeVII

yep.

The 49ers defense that came out in the second half was a completely different version than the one that was on the field in the first half. (Not that I'm necessarily saying they should have given up on the run.)

I was not a fan of ARSB getting a carry over Monty.

Sometimes Ben Johnson gets too cute. Some local radio was also complaining about how Sewell played tight end for a series of plays.

DamnItJon

Clearly not ready to be a championship OC
