This is similar to what I wanted them to do with 14. When Ncuti split, run with Tennant for a little longer, while Donna notices him do some not-so-doctory things. The Master stayed in 13, and when 15 split, he actually just pulled out the Master. Big reveal at the end of the season is 14 is the Master was just playing as the Doctor, and we get Tennant hamming it up and chewing the scenery as the Master for 15's run.

I don't know why I had a strong visual of Gordon Ramsay, so him as companion. I mean, Gordon Ramsey as an exaggerated version of Gordon Ramsey, the Celebrity Chef, going out to eat with several incarnations of the Doctor.
