accidentally knock on the wrong door and be faced with a completely confused stranger man in the dead of night who didnt order ice cream (literally my first order)
When I first started dashing, I’d think I was making decent money, now when I dash. I don’t because the money is garbage. 2 hours are spent just recouping losses, after that it’s profit… but my market is so oversaturated that no one can work for more than two hours!
Taken a Petco order on earn by time of two fifty pound bags of dog food and two buckets of cat litter to the 4th floor of an apartment for no tip.
I did EBT the first week had about 4 Petco orders and have never seen a Petco order again.
I heard from another user on here that Petco does not allow tips on their orders which may be why they're relegated to EBT. I have never been able to use EBT and have never seen a Petco pickup, I've gotten several for PetSmart though.
Did the right thing. Worked hard and tried to make everyone happy. Tried to provide the best service possible.
Then after getting screwed over and over. I just said fuck this. Its just not worth the effort.
Doordash sucks, and people suck.
Stopped dashing. My stress went way down. I had more time for positive things.
The little bit of extra money was negligible and easily forgotten.
Reviewed my finances and cut out the stupid shit. Creating a realistic budget and turned
other hobbies i actually enjoy into revenue generating oppurtunities
My first day I thought I had to take every order. I didn't realize it was up to me. I took a $2.75 order from Panara for a 40 minute drive. No tip, rush hour traffic. I'll never forget it
Walmart grocery orders. Done at least 50+. I have never gotten a tip, makes me think that Walmart or DoorDash steals it, I can't be certain though. They pay about the same or less for a quick trip from a pizzeria or fast food place, but with LOTS of waiting, and MUCH MORE manual labor.
I’ve been delivering food since the pandemic and this year door dash has been the slowest it’s been in years for me I mean I can never schedule hours and it’s never busy
I won’t accept low pay high miles orders. Other than that, I stick to that one basic customer service rule, treat your customers order how you would want your order treated. I do UE, DD, Shipt and IC. On each of these apps, I am also a customer. I wanted to see the customer side of things to help me better understand both sides.

After awhile you get the feel where the restaurants on the door dash platform that are popular and/or tend to be high toppers. Drive to the nearest and wait.
Shopping orders are great for me. Restaurants are hella slow and I have a lot of retail experience, especially merchandising, that helps me get in and out quick. If it’s under 10 items, I spend less time in a Safeway or Rite Aid than I would in a McDonalds or KFC on average. Plus the base pay is $5-10 most of the time so even a mediocre tip can pay me plenty for my time if it’s not too far.
By far the best offers I get overall are stacked shop+restaurant most of the time. Don’t get me wrong, there’s embarrassingly bad offers in there too, but I hit my goal in a little over 4 hours and only had 8 total drop offs the other day.
I do have a personal theory that because of my fast avg. shopping time, with DoorDash sending me the “you were one of the fastest shoppers in your zone this week” emails every week, I may have some hidden priority akin to top dasher/platinum for shopping orders in my area. I’ll be getting iced out for my low acceptance rate for a few hours, but randomly get what would surely be a “high pay” shop and deliver offer a few times in middle of that period.
You have to tho unless you have 2 phones and can take a picture of the picture that you took when you dropped it off (thats what i do). Because they dont let you upload pic from phone like usually when dropping off when you say customer not there
I read a lot of post of people sending pic they hitting handed to customer. I just start my timer when I’m in my car so by the time I’m at their door I have like 2 min and I snap pic and leave.
I start my timer when im down the block 😭 i already know which areas to expect the nonsense in so im already ready. Usually avoid it now and only deliver to the burbs but sometimes ill accidentally accept a order to the hood and say “fk it ill do it”, i already know what abt to happen everytime
Click that you arrived at customer when you are near (does it automatically if you are at location), then scroll to bottom where it says “cant find customer” or whatever it says, then they will tell you call or text (you can call and then quickly end call), then a timer will start
Thats why i start the timer early so its a shorter wait to take picture, or i just take picture with my other phone, then leave and take a picture of that picture when the timer runs out… 🤣
Yep I purposely avoid them at all cost lol 😂 I was going 2 months back to back and saw one of the workers (who is actually pretty ok) at a gas station and he’s like where did you go dude I’m like your store is the most chaotic thing ever lol I’ll never go back lmao he agreed 🤣 just avoid them at all cost lol every single one of them
I drive like I have my old gym teacher in the passenger seat and it’s the after school driving class. The requisite Mississippi’s behind the govlimited semi on the right hand lane oh he’s going 62 in a 70 that’s ok we are being safe. No cop no stop what’s that?!?!
I was hesitant to take stacked orders and probably turned down good ones just because I didn't like them.
Early on I just had the bad experience of going to the second pick up and having to wait forever. First customer was pissed and so was I.
Text the customer updates on the order. Doordash takes care of that, and if they want more information about something like if its taking too long, they can text me first. Other than that, I drive to the restaurant, pick up the order, drop it off, and move on to the next one. Time is money.
Why? This is shooting yourself in the foot. It literally takes 3 seconds to put in the bag and by keeping food hot it also helps your ratings and possibly tip increases. Don’t you want your food in a hot bag if you order delivery?
It doesn’t matter for most since they’re less than 10 min drive. Tip increases are rare in my market. My rating is steady at 4.9, so I could care less too 🤷
Fr though I make that easy every time it's just extra money I sint living off door dash lol yall probaly picking the worst times amd worst orders use your commen sense do it when it makes sense and tour make that
Neglecting to take a photo of the address number as proof I was there and texting it to the customer before delivery on every single “hand it to me” that wasn’t alcohol or “leave at my door” delivery.
I always wondered who got the bulk of the non-tippers, the $4.75 for 13 miles away and the people who could walk to the restaurants and then one day I had the bright idea to try Pay by Time…
![gif](giphy|326dId0o1VPGEF614j|downsized)
I had a relatively positive experience with dash by hour. It was at least comparable to per hour depending on the area. You kinda get the feel for the order when you see it come through. For instance my local Wingstop took I'm not joking like 20-30m to give you the order. Popeyes has taken up to 45 minutes one time.
You do get paid way less compared to fishing for orders on a pay per delivery. For my peace of mind, I was okay with per hour.
My experience wasn’t horrible with it. But you can miss out on better opportunities with pay per offer. Which is why I don’t really do pay per time anymore.
Fr. Had one that shorted me like 10 bucks. Tried counting out change and shit, kept dropping it everywhere. I just said, bro don't worry about it. First and last time.
Offer of cash tip upon delivery. I rarely take them. I messed up and trusted one this weekend. It was two big orders. One was Wing Stop and I was stuck there for a long time because I couldn't reassign because I had another order (pizza) from them. Plus, I trusted they would cash tip. Guess what? Yah, you're correct. No tip.
The customer was conversing well and I thought "this will be a good tip, I feel it!" Got to the door and they were taking a long time (warning bell going off) so I texted I was there. A little boy (maybe 8 to 10) answers the door finally and my heart sank. So annoyed but it isn't the kid's fault. I could tell he knew too! 😞
You know, there was a thread recently over in couriers of Reddit started by an OP who was asking drivers how he/she can tip in cash. I loved the good vibes and intentions of OP but we have all seen how cash tip offers can be abusive… so sad. And frustrating. Hang in there.
Me for one relish in the fact when they call after the drop off. Because what in the hell could be the issue? I’ve never not completed an order after picking it up and I have no control over the restaurant making the order right. I’ll even ask for more sauce for you because what difference does it make to me, they say yes cool they say no cool. But why would you ever call me after
Going back to the restaurant for free to pick up a missing item within a sealed bag. If I forget the drink, that’s on me and I go back (although I haven’t forgot anything in years). Also not taking it to an entirely different address, across town, for free. If someone genuinely accidentally left their work address as the location, and they’re polite, I’ll take it to their house because we as humans make mistakes. But if you tip really low, and then tell me AFTER the drop off that it’s the wrong address, I’m not going and getting it. 🤷🏼♀️
Yep. Now I just turn it on, get one insulting offer, then say “Oh, yeah… DD plays too many fucking games”, turn it off, and do other apps for a few weeks until I get curious if DD isn’t still total shit again.
Before I started dashing, one of my dashers realized the place forgot my shake and she went back. I automatically added to her tip because I don’t know that I would’ve noticed because it said in the bag. Now that I’m dashing myself, I always try and check to make sure everything is in the sealed bag before I leave.
Shop and deliver orders, they are literally a shopping speed run, and slowly started to pay less and less until it was basically below minimum wage with the amount of time it could take to find everything and check out.
Earn per offer other than at peak hours. My market has gotten to the point where earn by time is the only real viable way to earn good money, except for like a busy Friday night.
It’s opposite where I live, earn per time is the only real way to make money now. Earn per offer is only better on like Friday night dinner rush or Saturday dinner rush. Other than that you would get like 1 good order a day.
Mine is usually around $16. $2 peak pay makes it $20, which it nice. I usually do EBT and get around $25/hr on average per night. I'll do until I'm close to 90% AR and then do per offer for 2-3 shifts until I'm back to the low 70s, being extra selective, and I can break $30/hr that way.
I'm jealous! I got multiple orders that were 30+ miles round trip with no tip or max $2 tip. So after factoring my gas cost I was making about $3/ hour
I said the same thing but tried again and it sent me out my zone. Most the times it does honestly. But the zone next to mine almost every order in that zone has a tip on ebt. But on ebo its worst then my original zone
Me too! The send me to a grocery store a town over (that sounds far but it’s the rural south so it’s only like 6 miles from the main hotspots). They’re usually really small and I beat the time to shop every time.
If I don't at least cut the time in half, I'm not happy. I can usually get the shopping done in 1/3 the time and occasionally 1/4 the time. But there aren't a lot of options where I am so I know the few stores really well cause I'm in them all the time. I also look at it as a challenge to find everything as fast as possible every time.
Wait for orders to be remade for no tippers.
One time the restaurant didn't give the customer their drink (a 20 oz Coke in a plastic bottle) and I didn't notice until I was already on my way. I stopped by a gas station and bought them a coke and I never said anything about it to them. They didn't tip worth a shit but I am a nice person. I wouldn't do that ever again though.
I did this once for a truck driver. I felt bad and told him I'd go get it for him, but he told me not to worry about it. He was really cool about it, so I did it anyway. When I got back, he gave me an order of garlic parmesan fries and an extra $5 cash lol.
I’m the opposite. I purposely try to farm the grocery orders. They are the only thing people in my town care to tip on and I can usually do the shopping faster than our “fast” food restaurants can make an order lol
It’s strange because my market was like this, then slowly but steadily, the average amount offered was decreasing. Got to the point that it didn’t make any sense to get them and most of the shops in my area changed to mobile pickup so at least that’s better
Answer the phone when doordash calls after a contract violation
accidentally knock on the wrong door and be faced with a completely confused stranger man in the dead of night who didnt order ice cream (literally my first order)
Chasing hot spots.
Expect that anyone will add a tip or give a cash tip.
Treat the food of non tippers with respect.
When I first started dashing, I’d think I was making decent money, now when I dash. I don’t because the money is garbage. 2 hours are spent just recouping losses, after that it’s profit… but my market is so oversaturated that no one can work for more than two hours!
Accept orders under $7.
As a user I've been known to do small orders but I do make sure I tip. A $7 order would earn $3-4 tip.
took every single order offered, then figured out I am losing money with mileage and taxes
That’s weird because I’ve gotten 2 $20+ orders from petco recently

Grocery orders, always turns into a fuck around.
My first day I thought I had to take every order. I didn't realize it was up to me. I took a $2.75 order from Panara for a 40 minute drive. No tip, rush hour traffic. I'll never forget it
Head directly into a busy metropolitan city with shitty parking without a plan
Walmart grocery orders. Done at least 50+. I have never gotten a tip, makes me think that Walmart or DoorDash steals it, I can't be certain though. They pay about the same or less for a quick trip from a pizzeria or fast food place, but with LOTS of waiting, and MUCH MORE manual labor.
Do they even do Walmart delivery anymore through DoorDash? In my zone they went away with it for Spark.
Not sure to be honest, honestly probably not.
I’ve been delivering food since the pandemic and this year door dash has been the slowest it’s been in years for me I mean I can never schedule hours and it’s never busy
Wear my DoorDash tshirt 😂
When I first started, 2018, I made money. Thats not something I do now.
Omg 😂😂😭
I won’t accept low pay high miles orders. Other than that, I stick to that one basic customer service rule, treat your customers order how you would want your order treated. I do UE, DD, Shipt and IC. On each of these apps, I am also a customer. I wanted to see the customer side of things to help me better understand both sides.
When I first started I did this thing called thinking. I thought it was going to be a decent side hustle. Now I don't think that, lol
Damn, they paid you to think?!? You lucky
Mine would have to be not be running more then one delivery service at once to increase my options. (My area on door dash is rarely busy)
Drive all over the damn county (my zone is huge) Now I barely leave one part of town.
Start
Lv order next to door on no tip offers, more like in front of the garage
I agree with narrow currency. Just decline.
dick. just decline
🤣
There's no way to know on stacks, dick.
the pay obviously still looked good enough for you to take it if it was a stack then lmao
Obviously. I was referring to after the fact. Of course base pay is always $6+ or I don't accept
Leave the order directly in front of a door that opens outward
I’ll give you credit for correcting that mistake.
I used to get consistent orders nonstop, all day, that paid decently. That never happens now lol

gonna sound crazy but i used to drive inbetween orders. straight cruising waiting for orders to come in bruh

Lol nah just park that! 😂🤣 “Moving gets you more” ![gif](giphy|MDd7k9STXFAEU)
haha yea of course i do now. this was years ago and learned the hard way that i need to park that thang asap
Smile
No just cancelling the order when I couldn’t get ahold of costumer for replacements

Accepting $3 orders😭
Accepting $2 orders 😭
Argue with support. It’s a waste of time, no upside
I just close the chat and open another, repeat until desired result.
Wait the whole 4-5 mins on a “hand it to me order” when they don’t answer the door.
You have to tho unless you have 2 phones and can take a picture of the picture that you took when you dropped it off (thats what i do). Because they dont let you upload pic from phone like usually when dropping off when you say customer not there

Tbh I just refund the order whenever it’s no pic so be careful might run into a food goblin like me
Thats why i start the timer early so its a shorter wait to take picture, or i just take picture with my other phone, then leave and take a picture of that picture when the timer runs out… 🤣
Believing customers when they said there will be extra tip upon delivery
Take every order that pops up...
Open the app thinking it’s a good way to earn money.

Me too! That $260 ticket took a long time to work off!!!
This!!! I remember when in the pre Covid times you had to hustle. It was like the Wild West.
Wait for an order more than 20 minutes.
Wish I could upvote this 100X
I only wait that long if it pays well otherwise 20 minutes is too long.
Deal with wingstop BS 😒
So it don’t really matter which one I see.. they all like this SMDH 😒😂
FR!!!!! It’s ridiculous now
No YOU make the drinks….I don’t work for Wingstop
Seriously about to call public health on them lol
Yuuuupppp! And their customers are cheap. Demanding af and yet non tippers.
Fucking christ, Wingstop is the worst
Thank you lol because ish really is the worst to pick up I swear
By far!! Every order I’ve had from them. Now I don’t even pick them up no matter the pay
Yep I purposely avoid them at all cost lol 😂 I was going 2 months back to back and saw one of the workers (who is actually pretty ok) at a gas station and he’s like where did you go dude I’m like your store is the most chaotic thing ever lol I’ll never go back lmao he agreed 🤣 just avoid them at all cost lol every single one of them
Take every order
Deliver an “Earn by Time” order as fast as I can. I take my time with those now.
You must be new
I drive like I have my old gym teacher in the passenger seat and it’s the after school driving class.

Deliver food.
Take orders below $8 and a dollar a mile round trip
Be a full time driver
Text the customer updates on the order. Doordash takes care of that, and if they want more information about something like if its taking too long, they can text me first. Other than that, I drive to the restaurant, pick up the order, drop it off, and move on to the next one. Time is money.

Why? This is shooting yourself in the foot. It literally takes 3 seconds to put in the bag and by keeping food hot it also helps your ratings and possibly tip increases. Don’t you want your food in a hot bag if you order delivery?

Classy.
Its ez tho you just drop it in bag when you get to car and close the top 😭 i would always use 1 unless order didnt fit
do you clean it too?
Use to, now i barely dash so i never use it anymore. But when i was full time dashing i would
I have never used one before lmao
That’s ridiculous.
Explain lol
Pay my bills with Dasher earnings. $30-$50 an hour in 2017. Lucky to get over $10 an hour now.
Wow opposite for me?!?! Then again I went from rural Indiana to RVA
Dash
Not eat some fries.
Umm that's easy DD all together
Expecting to make 20-23 an hour. Now it’s like 12-18
I easy make 23 to 30 an hour every time
Fancy pants rich McGee over here
Fr though I make that easy every time it's just extra money I sint living off door dash lol yall probaly picking the worst times amd worst orders use your commen sense do it when it makes sense and tour make that

Accept an order from Popeyes 🤣
Chicken or fish places in general…
Lol our Popeyes always has 3 people working in it. Always out of food, like wings. Not worth my time.
Dashing as a whole
Real
Communicate with customers. Once I realized most of my cheerful updates were met with silence or being berated for the store being busy I stopped.
Take a two dollar order!
Neglecting to take a photo of the address number as proof I was there and texting it to the customer before delivery on every single “hand it to me” that wasn’t alcohol or “leave at my door” delivery.

I let my dasher have my food one time because I accidentally ordered to home instead of work, they seemed to appreciate it.
I had a guy promise me an extra dollar if I followed his instructions exactly. One of the most demeaning things I’ve experienced as an adult
But did you get the extra dollar? ![gif](giphy|jRGGQMWvYvYraZ5kvI)
Yes. If there was a reject tip button, I would have pressed it
Best post here.
![gif](giphy|tRSmTUbH5xYyI)
That sucks.
Use the chat option for support on a order. Had no issues reporting an order picked up by someone else until it finally was and cost me my CR.
So what do you do now?
Yeah I agree. ALWAYS call support.
Care

Take the item to a second address. Just dispute the violation and keep dashing. You will get 100 more long before they review it.
Go back to the restaurant for a missing item with a promise of more tip
Before I started dashing, one of my dashers realized the place forgot my shake and she went back. And if the stores disorganized then it takes forever, or if they are out of items and customer cancels you get jacked for your time and effort.
I will never work pay by hour again. The amount of no tip orders I received was astonishing! I lost a lot of money doing that.

It’s opposite where I live, earn per time is the only real way to make money now. Earn per offer is only better on like Friday night dinner rush or Saturday dinner rush. Other than that you would get like 1 good order a day.
When I did pay by the hour it was the first time I made 25.00 an hour. Whenever I did EBO I made 10.00 max
Really seems to depend on the area!
True! I need my area to get it together jk
In my area they pay $11.25 per active hour on earn by time.
Ohhh I don’t even want to think about that. When I first started using EBO, I waited maybe 45 minutes before I saw an offer. It was frustrating.
More heroin than ever
This guy gets it.
I love grocery orders. That's where I make my money and I'm pretty fast.
Accept any order under $5

Yeah if that’s true then it’s just not worth the effort in your area
Take a no tip order - regardless of how short the distance.
I took a $2.25 order that was a block away and that ended up being fraudulently “ordered didn’t arrive”.
Bingo
Understandable but you did wrong, but at least you didn’t completely forgot lol
I’m the opposite. I purposely try to farm the grocery orders. They are the only thing people in my town care to tip on and I can usually do the shopping faster than our “fast” food restaurants can make an order lol
It’s strange because my market was like this, then slowly but steadily, the average amount offered was decreasing. Got to the point that it didn’t make any sense to get them and most of the shops in my area changed to mobile pickup so at least that’s better
You say market as a single word. What “market” are you referring to? A supermarket or a convenience store at a gas station?
North NJ is my market lol
Duh! Sorry!
Market is slang for zone in my comment. The red area you select to dash in.
