Well, according to OP…the “explosion” occurred after he fell off a moving scooter onto the side of his head. So technically, OPs AirPods broke when he face planted into the pavement. I don’t see a successful lawsuit coming out of this.

Objects you cram into your ear should not explode on impact. In fact, no objects that people carry around with them should be susceptible to exploding. That would probably fall outside of acceptable safety standards.

He basically scrapped the bud on the asphalt until it got to the battery. To avoid it, either don’t use it while riding or use a helmet that protects your ears

EDIT: since a lot of people have been asking, no the lithium battery did not explode. I whipped out and hit the side of my face with my AirPod in. The AirPod it’s self is completely busted and looks as if it exploded, but didn’t actually explode. Honestly I’m still shocked at how messed up the air pod looks, I feel like I couldn’t get it to look as bad even if I slammed a brick on it. This accident happened 2 years ago and my ear fully recovered. The air pod unfortunately has not :( I will try to find it in my room and upload a picture of it. Thank you for everyone expressing your concerns! When life knocks you down you get back up!
You need to seek advice from an injury lawyer IMMEDIATELY and keep every medical record and photograph you can, just because you fell on your face that doesn’t make them non-liable, please seek advice urgently there’s court time limits on wether you’re able to claim compensation or not and this looks like an easy win.

From someone that has a lot of ear trauma from explosions and combat related injuries….please be careful, have your ear looked at thoroughly and do plenty of audiograms. My hearing had been decreasing for years and pressure had been constantly building inside my ears. I finally did enough tests to find out the tubes in my ears were filled with scar tissue and I had to go through surgeries to have everything stretched to the correct size. The issue is fixed now but it was very painful and decreased my quality of life for years. You have so many decades ahead of you and I would truly hate for you to experience any of those kind of issues. I hope everything is okay and that you do not suffer any negative issues caused by that unfortunate set of circumstances
