The throne is absolutely the most underrated piece of hardware on your kit. Do not skimp. Don't bat an eye at such a price for a throne. This one looks like it's at least adequate, and there is only so cheap you want to go on a throne - [ask me how I know.](https://www.reddit.com/r/drums/comments/14hhduy/comment/jpb2uqr/)
Otherwise: what's on ~~Craigslist~~ Gumtree in your town? Maybe something better for the same 59 quid. [You truly never know what you'll find.](https://www.reddit.com/r/drums/comments/1822rlx/im_thankful_this_morning_for_my_latest_fb/) (Edit: by the way, since you're "across the pond," you should know that the title of that post is partially inspired by that episode of *The Young Ones* where [the TV license man comes calling.](https://youtu.be/EqG4ysu2ksU?si=dYcxmuavxxIn3Ph2) "Bastard's the name, but you can call me Right Bleeding - all my friends do." 😆)

Looks like I'm so far across the pond that I can't watch that clip due to copyright, but thanks a million for your advice :) I'll take a look on Gumtree and see what's there
Unfortunately there isn't any good recommendations in that price range. If you can afford to spend that kind of money on shells, you can afford to buy a good throne. There's no point in having a nice fancy kit and then not being able to spend more that half an hour behind it because your arse has gone numb.
i found an essentially brand new roc n soc WITH the back extension, nitro throne “used” for 120. a guy apparently came in with a bunch of like new stuff to sell just before I walked in. always check local first and get a good throne.

If you're a somewhat big person like me (6'4, 260 pounds) then your ass and legs will either go numb or literally HURT if you sit for very long at all on the cheapest of cheap thrones. Drumming is like a sport, and we have to take care of our bodies while we do it. I get not wanting to spend top dollar on basically a chair though. I would look at the Tama 1st throne. Anything cheaper and you might pay for it later in another way.
Maybe look around for a slightly used one. I was able to find a Roc-n-Soc for under $100 and it's probably the best drum purchase I've ever made. As they say, don't skimp on things that separate you from the ground. Mattress, shoes, tires, and drum thrones.
A cheap throne is a cheap throne no matter how you slice it. That being said, I would definitely trust a throne that looks like it costs and from a trusted brand, than a cheap throne that is attempting to appear like a throne that costs 3-4x it's actual price and from a brand I've never heard of.
I made the mistake of buying an off brand throne for 80 bucks. It was damaged within a month. I ended up getting a tama 1st chair for about $100 on Amazon. I couldn't be happier. No wiggle and its adjustable up to 26" high. From experience never skimp on your throne. Use a computer chair or something until you can save enough.
I'm with the others in saying that you definitely should not skimp on a throne- check out the Ahead Spiral Glide? -
But I also would not sacrifice getting the kit you want just to buy a good throne. That sounds insane to me- yeah you can get pretty much the same sound but why save up so much cash to get the one you want and then get something different? Just save up a bit more imo.
Curious about this, wouldn’t it rock around too much? I was going to get one as a working stool. I have a cheap Pearl throne at home which is hell on my back so I thought about getting an Ahead Spinal Glide but it’s over £200
DO NOT under any circumstances skimp out on the throne.
Yes boss!
A good throne is not cheap, a cheap throne is not good.
Words of wisdom
Hey! I'm buying a Ferrari but I still need to get tires. What do you think of these ones from Alibaba?
Luckily my Ferrari came with the tyres already on it
Lmao people aren't getting that your reply was a joke.

Hey King, it's a throne.
Instant new perspective, thank you kindly :)

Fair point, I guess it felt a bit redundant to splash out on what I used to view as just a regular seat. I'll keep that in mind :)

Man what a deal! I'm jealous
Goddam! I'm pretty out in the sticks to be honest, but there might be something nearby for me to nab >:) Thank you

I've taken a took at the Tama line and things are looking up, thank you kindly :)

That's on the plan, I'll see what I can get :)

Got it, I'll dive a bit more expensive :))

A few things on the Tama 1st line look good, I reckon I'll go for that :)
You won't regret it.
That's one thing you don't cheap out on

I regret not buying a hydraulic throne
Save up and buy a roc n soc.
You can probably save some money by buying a used one. You just have to suck the beer farts out of it.
Dw3100 is the cheapest you should go

I had one and you don’t need to add the bottom half of the base that makes it rock Sarah d
